Dune Awakening Beginner Guide: How Should You Survive On Arrakis?

When the new PvP zone, Deep Desert, was released in Dune Awakening, player opinions were mixed. Players who enjoyed intense combat were very satisfied, but those who just wanted casual exploration scoffed at it. Although the developers made several adjustments afterward, the results were minimal.

As time went on, fewer and fewer players remained in the game, and the combat type in Deep Desert gradually transitioned from PvP to PvE, with its main function being the farming of regular loot. As a result, many players have begun to build their own bases in this area to achieve stable development.

If you have this intention but don’t know how to start, this guide to building a versatile and effective base in Deep Desert, which can both attack and defend, is one you absolutely shouldn’t miss. Let’s start with the materials we need to build the base!

Required Resources & Overview

While building a base in Deep Desert is less expensive than in Hagga Basin, you may need to pay special attention to certain materials since this project involves building an Advanced sub-fief console using Atreides Stronghold. For example:

• 2 Pentashields
• 2 Steel
• 20 Cobalt Paste
• 6 Calibrated Servok
• Some Salvaged Metal & Fuel Cells

Regarding the size of the plots, the optimal recommended size is 9x7, because there aren’t many flat plots in this exploration area, and this is the most suitable size for survival and building a base. Once you’ve chosen your base location and orientation, you can place a Pentashield as your strongest support.

For your long-term development, we recommend building this base in two phases: first the main structure, then placing the utility facilities. Of course, if you can gather all the necessary materials and complete the upgrades in a single raid, you can build it all at once, but this is quite difficult for regular casual players.

Ground Floor

First, some strategies are needed to lift the base of this Advanced sub-fief console two layers off the ground, such as walking along the edge or placing the console near an absolute edge or corner.

Alternatively, you can pick up some Salvaged Metal from this area and place it on the edge or corner of the area where you want your base to be located, and build a 7x9 ring foundation according to its location.

Next, fill the entire central area on this foundation with Atreides Floor Pieces. This is mainly to reduce the consumption of Plastones, since they will be of great use later. After laying the floor, remember to place the door to the trading post in a corner.

Although player-to-player trading has declined, it doesn’t mean you can’t earn a small amount of Dune Awakening Solari through trading to survive, so it’s still very necessary. Next, you can use the walls or windows you have to fill the gaps between the doors and beautify the appearance of your building.

By the way, it’s best to place a ramp connecting to the ground along the long side of your base for your off-road vehicles to pass through. And Fuel-Powered Generator is also an essential in-game item, ensuring you have enough survival resources in the early stages of base construction.

Hangar

Next is Hangar, which requires you to first add a set of stairs at the back of the site, and then fill the gap between the doors with any walls or windows you like. After you have set the height of the hangar, simply raise the rear stairs until they are flush with the wall.

One thing to note here is that you must build a four-block-wide ceiling at the top of these walls; this will be the gap between the stairs and the hangar. Also, be sure to build a 3x1 block above the gap in the roof staircase to enclose the staircase and ensure that the roof exit is not affected by sandstorms.

Utility Facilities

After you complete all the above construction steps, the first stage will be finished. Next, we will focus on building utility facilities, which are mainly used to cultivate Plastanium Ingots, one of the most important resources for your survival in this Deep Desert region.

You need to build some storage space first, and then put all the items in your aircraft into it so that you can freely build using the construction tools later. For turbines used for power generation, you can choose to place them on top of the cantilevered part of the door or on the roof, where there is ample space.

You can place wind traps and water storage wherever there is enough space. The location for building medium-sized chemical refineries and medium-ore refineries needs to be carefully considered. They cannot be too conspicuous, but the space must be large enough, which may take a lot of effort.

Although the operating costs required for these facilities are very high: a large wind trap requires four particulate filters per day; a wind Turbine Directional requires 96 low-grade lubricants per day; and any fuel-powered generator requires 24 fuel cells per day, believe me, the returns they can bring you are immeasurable.

With the help of this base, you can produce at least 241,000 units of water and store 450,000 units of water every day, easily collect Titanium Ore, and make Plastanium Ingot - all of these are no longer a dream. The combat in Dune Awakening can be mainly divided into melee and ranged, both of which are very powerful combat methods, but because of the existence of Holtzman shields, a little balance is made, so ranged attacks are not completely dominant in this game.

The reason for choosing melee is that Holtzman shields cannot block slow objects, so you can use melee to do the most damage. And some characters’ skills are very helpful for melee, so whether in PVP or PVE, melee is worth trying, and the following is a build based on Swordmaster’s skills.

Mentat’s skills are not needed here, but if it is a ranged build, it may be needed. In battle, you need to flexibly use the three abilities of Crippling Strike, Inspiration and Knee Charge, which can close the distance with the opponent and quickly destroy the enemy’s balance.

Melee Attack Tips

Melee attacks have 4 types of attacks: light attack, thrust attack, heavy attack and slow blade attack. The first two have the advantage of fast attack speed, but the damage caused by the attack is not high. The latter two attacks are very slow to attack and the damage is very high, usually 4 to 8 times the damage of light attacks. Your specific damage depends on your weapon and the armor provided by the opponent’s Dune Awakening items. This mainly shows that you need to try to hit the enemy with your slow blade attack and heavy attack in the melee.

If you want the heavy attack to hit the opponent, you must make the opponent unbalanced. Under the protection of Holtzman shield, the opponent is usually not so easy to unbalance. You need to hit the opponent three times to make him shake. If your opponent has a passive skill that can reduce the damage of balance, then he can withstand more attacks.

You must strictly manage your stamina in combat and be sure to avoid frequent sprints and meaningless attacks. Learn to conserve a certain amount of stamina in case you cannot dash in a critical moment.

Two weeks after Dune Awakening went live, the game has received its first major patch, which has made timely changes to many player feedback issues and greatly optimized the current end-game experience.

This change mainly involves Deep Desert, turning almost half of the area into a PVE area. Are players satisfied with this change? Let’s have a look below.

Deep Desert

The biggest change is the change to the PVP area, which is Deep Desert. Before the update, the best equipment that players could get in the PVE area was only around T5, and Dune Awakening items required to make T5 equipment also needed to be got from Deep Desert area.

In Patch 1.1.0.17, the PVP area in Deep Desert was reduced by about half, and now the PvE area has been adjusted to the entire southern half of Deep Desert map, from area E2 to area A will now become a PVE area. You can now explore or build bases in these areas without worrying about being besieged by other players.

Control Points and Shipwrecks in PVE areas will still be a small PVP area, so if you encounter other players here, you must be vigilant.

PVE players can now come here almost safely to collect level 6 materials, and the richest areas are still in PVP areas. You can find spice fields and Control Points in PVP areas.

Here are the changes to resource points in Deep Desert:

• The number of medium spice fields has been reduced from 8 to 5.
• The number of small spice fields has been increased from 20 to 22.
• The number of resource nodes in Deep Desert PvE section has been reduced.
• The respawn time of Titanium and Stravidium has been increased to 45 minutes.

Although the resources in Deep Desert that have become PVE areas are less than before, it is still much better than blocking PVE players from Deep Desert area.

Is This A Pleasant Change?

PVE Players

First of all, this is definitely a good thing for PVE players. PVE players are basically single players. There are only two reasons which they don’t join in PVP: they don’t like PVP content, and they are worried that their weapons and equipment are too backward to beat PVP players.

The number of PVE enthusiasts in Dune Awakening is significantly higher than that of PVP. According to the published data, global players have consumed over than 120 million building parts, manufactured 517,000 ornithopters, and collected 6.11 billion grams of spices. The total area surveyed by players reached 25,529,505 square kilometers, 56,253 milliliters of blood were extracted from enemies, 66,000 players died in sandstorms, 816,000 died in sandworm attacks, and 628,000 died in Deep Desert.

This update allows most PVE players to get better materials, equipment and unique item schematics. They only need to take a little more time than PVP players to get top-level Dune Awakening items.

PvE players with top gear can now go to the PvP area to steal some materials from time to time. However, players who plan to do this must remember that your ornithopter must be at least T5, and you’d better prepare a spare ornithopter in your base, or at least prepare more parts, because you may be shot down by other players at any time.

PVP Players

Many PvP players have complained about this change, thinking that this change will ruin the content of PvP, but in fact, when the change officially takes effect, almost no one complains about this.

Because shrinking the PvP area is also a good thing for PvP players. In the previous Deep Desert PvP area was too large, and you could not meet large-scale PvP players in most areas, and this update compressed the PvP area, making it easier for PvP players to meet each other and then have a random battle.

Although such changes are worthy of recognition, the problem of cheating players rampant in the game is still serious, making it difficult for PvP enthusiasts to get a good gaming experience. Just adding a few PVE areas will not completely solve this problem. Further measures are still needed to combat cheating and improve the gaming environment.

Other Changes

In addition to the changes to the PVP area, there are some adjustments to optimize the gameplay, which will also affect PVP combat.

Rocket Launcher Module will cause your ornithopter to slow down, Scout Ornithopters will slow down by 20% and Assault Ornithopters will slow down by 10%. This is a good thing for single players who drive Scout Ornithopters to PVP areas to steal resources, so it is difficult for PVP players’ Ornithopters to catch up with him.

The second is that if you jump directly from the ornithopter, it will automatically land instead of gliding away. This is to prevent players who suddenly disconnect from the line from losing their ornithopters.

In short, these are some adjustments to optimize the gameplay. However, although this patch was very successful, the combat part of the game was not good enough so far. Whether it is the long-range design or the melee knife combat, it is not very smooth. This is also the reason players prefer PVE content, so I hope that the game can continue to optimize the combat feel.

Although Dune Awakening is a survival game, players need water, electricity and a base to block the sun, but Dune Awakening Solari is also very important. Many players may think that Solari, which can be got in the later stages of the game, is not much more difficult than grabbing a handful of sand. When you use Solari, it will slip through your fingers as quickly as sand.

Therefore, if you keep your resources abundant, you will not completely use up your Solari, and knowing some farm Solari methods can make you more relaxed in Arrakis.

What Can Solari Do?

Solari is the most common currency. It can be traded with merchants like gold in other games. You can find resources or part of schematics from merchants, which are very important at any time.

In addition, before you get your own ornithopter, you can also take the trade station ornithopter to various areas on the map, and each flight will consume 2500 Solari.

In addition, as a glorious citizen of the empire, you can’t escape the tax bureau that follows you everywhere. When you build a sub-fief in an area outside the south Hagga Basin, you have to pay taxes. The more sub-fiefs you have, the higher the taxes. If you don’t turn in Solari in time, your base shield will be revoked and everything inside will disappear.

How To Farm Solari?

Imperial Test Stations

There are large or small Imperial Test Stations scattered throughout the map of Arrakis. They are full of enemies and treasure chests. This can be regarded as a dungeon in other games. As long as you don’t die in it, you can get various Dune Awakening items, Solari, and schematics.

Because of the different sizes and difficulties of Imperial Test Stations, you can get 15K to 20K Solari, as well as advanced materials and schematics in some large Imperial Test Stations. If you are confident in your combat power, it is recommended to focus on farming Imperial Test Stations.

Intel Areas

Some areas on the map allow you to get Intel Points. Players need Intel Points to get more schematics to improve technology. In these areas are mini-fortresses with some guards. Clearing these areas will earn your Intel Points and about a few thousand Solari. There are currently about dozens of intelligence points. Clearing these areas will accumulate millions of Solari.

Bandit Camps

Basically, there will be hundreds of Solari in the treasure chest of each Bandit Camps. Although the number is not large, the advantage is that the enemies here are not very powerful and are everywhere on the map. Once you meet them, you can kil; them all, go in and search for items, and sometimes you will get unexpected gains.

Trading

Solari that can be got through trading is much more than you think. You must know that this game has tens of thousands of players online, and there will be many new players joining. Therefore, whether it is schematics, weapons, or vehicles, there will be players who need them, because you need to find a lot of resources to build these things yourself, which is very time-consuming.

You can sell some extra items or unique blueprints that you don’t need, because many players do this, but if you want to make more money this way, you need to understand the market trends and what items players generally need.

For now, the most in demand in the trading station is auto parts, which you can find in the Imperial Test Station or make yourself. You can make a lot of Dune Awakening Solari for each one you sell. For example, a Buggy Storage Mk5 can currently be sold for 25,000 Solari.

The second is unique items. You can often get schematics of some unique items in Imperial Test Station. If you make it, the price is usually between 20K and 1,000K. If you sell schematics, they rarely exceed 10K, which is a big difference. You can also see schematics worth 100K, but it’s hard to sell.

I recommend selling finished products, but some players prefer to buy blueprints directly because this saves Solari. You can first see which unique item sells the best and then work hard to cultivate it.

But be careful not to sell your spices. Spices are the most valuable items in the game and have many uses. You will hardly get any benefit from exchanging them for Solari.

Contracts

If you don’t want to waste your time on trading, there is another way to get Solari, that is contracts. You can think of them as side quests, and each contract reward contains thousands of Solari.

Some contracts come from trainers. By completing their tasks, you can not only get Solari, but also unlock the skill tree of the corresponding class, killing two birds with one stone.

This won’t waste too much of your time, and you can specify a farming route to search for the resources and schematics that all players need most at the moment to improve your farming efficiency.
