MLB The Show 25 Moonshot Program: How To Make Progress Of Program?

San Diego Padres’ starting lineup this season is not optimistic. Yu Darvish, who is injured on the elbow, has repeatedly conveyed the news of his return. Can the 38-year-old pitcher save Padres’ decline? It is still unknown at present.

MLB The Show 25 launched the Yu Darvish Evolution Program on July 1. Let’s follow the footsteps of this program and review Yu Darvish’s growth history from MLB to now.

Yu Darvish Evolution Program Includes three free player cards, all of which are Yu Darvish cards. Yu Darvish also has a Live card that was released on March 13th, and this card only requires 400 MLB The Show 25 stubs.

The three cards represent three different periods of Yu Darvish in MLB, and his attributes are getting higher and higher.

85 OVR Rookie Yu Darvish

• Stamina: 94
• H/9: 80
• K/9: 90
• BB/9: 53
• HR/9: 78
• Pitch Clutch: 83
• Control: 66
• Velocity: 90
• Break: 99

85 OVR Rookie Yu Darvish represents his time as a pitcher with Rangers in 2012. He left Japanese National Baseball Team in 2012 and joined Rangers. He won his debut against Seattle Mariners and was selected as an All-Star that year.

This card ranks 151st among starting pitchers in MLB 25. Although he has 5 pitching methods, his Control attribute is too low, which makes his pitching not very stable and easy for opponents to walk.

90 OVR Veteran Yu Darvish

• Stamina: 91
• H/9: 85
• K/9: 75
• BB/9: 86
• HR/9: 80
• Pitch Clutch: 93
• Control: 86
• Velocity: 99
• Break: 96

90 OVR Veteran Yu Darvish represents his last year as a starting pitcher for Chicago Cubs in 2020. Because of the impact of the epidemic, he performed poorly at the beginning of this season, but he quickly recovered and won several high-quality starts for the team.

This card ranks 61st among starting pitchers. Compared with his Rookie card, his Control attribute has increased significantly, but some other attributes have decreased. Although his BB/9 attribute has increased, the decrease in K/9 will make him more likely to be struck out in the game.

95 OVR Standout Yu Darvish

• Stamina: 97
• H/9: 101
• K/9: 85
• BB/9: 88
• HR/9: 81
• Pitch Clutch: 100
• Control: 90
• Velocity: 99
• Break: 99

95 OVR Standout Yu Darvish represents his time pitching for San Diego Padres in 2022. Although he joined Padres in 2021, his defensive data in his first year was not very good, but he won 16 games in 2022, the same number of wins as when he first came to the major leagues in 2012, proving that time cannot make this pitcher’s level decline.

This card ranks ninth among all starting pitchers. From the attribute point of view, it has no many weaknesses. Only K/9 attribute is slightly lower than his Rookie card. The attributes of its five pitches have also become more perfect.

On May 23 update, 68 new player cards were added, 30 of which are from Team Affinity Color Storm. This series is the same as Team Affinity. All players in this series cannot be obtained through stubs trading, but need to get Team Affinity points.

The OVR of these 30 new cards is 91 or 92. They each represent a team, and each card can become an important force on your team. Let’s take a look at the completion conditions of the 15 teams in American League.

Each team's mission is independent and its rewards are also different. You can get MLB 25 card packs, but you can't get MLB The Show 25 stubs.

That’s all the quests and rewards for the 15 teams in American League. Every player is worth collecting because they are better than most players who need stubs. But it takes a lot of time to complete all the quests.

MLB’s Rivalry Weekend kicks off this week, and the fierce competition between the teams this week will revolve around geographical location. Juan Soto returns to Metropolitan Team, and the battle between Yankees and Mets this weekend will be very exciting.

At the same time, MLB The Show 25 did not miss this heat and launched Rivalry Weekend Program. Players can get rewards in this program by earning points.

In addition to regular card packs and MLB The Show 25 stubs, this event In addition to the rewards, the two most concerned rewards are 90 OVR Hunter Brown and 91 OVR Adolis Garcia. It is a bit regrettable that there are not many reward players in this program. Many players think that there will be at least 3 players as rewards in this event.

90 OVR Topps Now Hunter Brown

• Stamina: 87
• H/9: 97
• K/9: 81
• BB/9: 71
• HR/9: 99
• Pitch Clutch: 103
• Control: 73
• Velocity: 92
• Break: 99

Hunter Brown is the starting pitcher of Astros. He made his debut in September 2022 and won the world championship with the team in the same year. From April 3, 2025 to April 27 games, Hunter Brown set a record of 28 scoreless innings.

Hunter Brown’s statistics as a starting pitcher are very good. He has 5 pitches, with his 4-Seam Fastball being his best, followed by his Knuckle Curveball. His 2-Seam Fastball has a lot of velocity, but lacks control.

The right-hander ranks 13th among 483 starting pitchers in MLB 25. He only has two quirks, and if he had more, his ranking might move up a few spots.

91 OVR Topps Now Adolis Garcia

• Contact Right: 90
• Contact Left: 88
• Power Right: 92
• Power Left: 90
• Vision: 48
• Discipline: 40
• Clutch: 95
• Bunt: 35
• Drag Bunt: 25
• Durability: 95

Adolis Garcia is a center fielder for Texas Rangers, and can also play left and right field. He made his major league debut in 2018 and was traded to Rangers in 2019.

In May 2021, he won Rookie of the Year award and was selected for All-Star Game. In 2023, he was selected for All-Star Game again and won World Championship with the team.

91 OVR Adolis Garcia has excellent ability as a hitter. His left and right contact data are very good and he has almost no weaknesses. His defensive data is even better. He has 99 Arm Strength and Arm Accuracy and 86 Fielding data, but his running speed is average.

The biggest drawback of this card is that there is no quirk, but the solid data still allows him to rank 16th among 356 center fielders.

How To Make Progress?

There are 15 tasks in Rivalry Weekend Program. It is not difficult to get all the rewards. You have many ways to get points.

Complete 15 Moments (75 Points And 5 Points Each)

These 15 Moments cover pitching and batting, and are all veteran difficulty, but the difficulty is not particularly high. Some moments require you to complete extra-base hits or get on base.

Complete Rivalry Weekend Conquest (50 points)

Rivalry Weekend Conquest is a VS-shaped map. You can get the following rewards by completing this map:

• Jumbo Pack
• Headliners Packs×2
• Ballin’ is a Habit Pack×1
• The Show Packs×2
• 4500 XP
• Deluxe Choice Pack×1
• The Show Packs×4

This conquest map contains multiple card packs. You can use them to supplement your player cards, or you can trade duplicate players in the card packs to supplement stubs.

Optional Stat Missions

• Get five hits with a right fielder (5 points)
• Get two saves with a closer patcher (CP) (5 points)
• Get three extra base hits with a shortstop (5 points)
• Pitch 10 innings with a starting pitcher (5 points)
• Get five hits with a third baseman (5 points)

If you find completing 15 Moments difficult, these five optional stat missions are much easier, and you have a lot of players to choose from, without having to trade players to complete the missions.

The two players given away by Rivalry Weekend Program are not the best players, but they are not difficult to obtain, and their stats are good. You only need to spend a little time to get all the rewards. If you haven’t completed 99 OVR Scott Rolen Collection, then you need these two cards even more.

With the arrival of May, May Spotlight 1 Program is finally online. The players in focus this May are Kyle Stowers, Kyle Manzardo and Zach Agnos. As long as you complete the corresponding tasks, you can unlock the diamond cards of these three characters.

In addition to the three diamond cards, the rewards of May Spotlight 1 Program also include MLB The Show 25 pack and XP, but there are no stubs. This is a very short program, and it won’t take up too much of your time.

10. 50 Points: 91 OVR Spotlight Series Kyle Stowers

88 OVR Topps Now Kyle Manzardo

88 OVR Kyle Manzardo is a first baseman from Cleveland Guardians. He is 24 years old and only entered the major leagues last year. He has hit 14 home runs so far, but it is clear that we don’t know enough about this rookie yet.

This card currently ranks 28th among all first basemen and has only 1 quirk. His hitting attributes are very good, but still a little behind the top hitters. His baserunning speed is not fast, but his defensive attributes are OK.

This card is not the top of the 88 OVR cards, but it is enough to be a temporary replacement when you are short of a first baseman. If it can be traded, its value is about 20,000 stubs. Here are some attributes of this card:

• Contact Right: 82
• Contact Left: 79
• Power Right: 94
• Power Left: 90
• Vision: 63
• Discipline: 83
• Clutch: 85
• Bunt: 35
• Drag Bunt: 25
• Durability: 95

88 OVR Topps Now Zach Agnos

88 OVR Zach Agnos is a closer for Colorado LA Clippers. He made his major league debut on April 20, 2025.

Zach Agnos has a fast pitching speed, which has attracted the attention of scouts, and this is also reflected in this card. Although this card does not have any quirks, his excellent statistics are enough to make up for this shortcoming.

Currently, this card ranks 14th among relief pitchers. He is particularly good at Splitter and Fastball Running.

Here are some attributes of this card:

• Stamina: 25
• H/9: 111
• K/9: 80
• BB/9: 88
• HR/9: 87
• Pitch Clutch: 100
• Control: 87
• Velocity: 81
• Break: 99

91 OVR Spotlight Series Kyle Stowers

91 OVR Kyle Stowers is a right fielder for Marlins. He made his major league debut in June 2022. He originally played for Golden Eagles and was traded to Marlins in 2024.

Kyle Stowers is good at handling pitches from the right side. His Contact Right and Power Right attributes are very good. In contrast, he performs very poorly when facing pitches from left-handed pitchers. The advantage of this card is that it is relatively fast. His base running and stealing speed are very good.

This card currently ranks 17th among all right fielders, and is very similar to Christian Yelich, who ranks 20th, without the quirks, and that card is worth 110,000 MLB The Show 25 Stubs.

Here are some of Kyle Stowers’ attributes:

• Contact Right: 91
• Contact Left: 79
• Power Right: 102
• Power Left: 58
• Vision: 70
• Discipline: 76
• Clutch: 91
• Bunt: 35
• Drag Bunt: 25
• Durability: 95

• 7 hits with a primary third baseman (4 points)
• 10 home runs with a Marlins player (6 points)
• 15 strikeouts with Twins players (6 points)

Each of these missions is fairly easy to complete, as Marlins and Twins have a lot of players. 73 OVR Marlins Nick Fortes and 72 OVR Twins Ty France are both great candidates for Stat Missions, and both only require around 35 stubs, which also allows you to complete Team Affinity Mission.

Optional Collection Missions

• Collect 88 OVR Topps Jake Meyers, Gunnar Hoglund, and Daniel Schneemann for 15 points
• Collect 91 OVR Spotlight Maikel Garcia and Bailey Ober for 35 points

These are the rewards for May Spotlight 1. Although these three cards are not top-notch, they are above average and can play a role in your team. There will be new cards in the May Spotlight series, so let’s wait and see.
