With the second round of Expedition in Arc Raiders about to begin on 25th Feb, you'll once again face a crucial choice: completely reset your account for long-term power gains, or skip Expedition and continue with your normal game progression.
While participation in this Expedition isn't mandatory, significant changes to the rewards, requirements, and progression system make this decision even more difficult.
If you participated in the first round of Expedition, the second is an absolute must-see; if you missed it, now's the perfect opportunity to delve deeper into Expedition Project.
This guide outlines everything you need to know before making your decision, helping you clearly understand the pros and cons.
Expedition Windows
Expeditions in Arc Raiders run on a fixed 60-day cycle. During Expedition Windows, players can collect specific materials and choose to voluntarily reset their accounts. After Expedition ends, the account reset takes effect, erasing most of your progress, but you'll receive a powerful long-term account bonus as compensation.
It's important to note here, some rewards in this round of Expedition require consecutive participation to obtain. Furthermore, if you participated the first time but don't participate this time, the previously earned buffs will not be reset.
Therefore, it seems better for players who have already participated to continue participating.
Item Requirements Differences
The overall structure of materials required to collect in Expedition 2 is the same as in Expedition 1, but some materials have slightly changed. This was intentionally done by ARC Raiders developers to avoid duplication.
Expedition 1 required the following items:
- Rubber Parts
- Cooling Fans
- Sensors
- Humidifiers
- Magnetic Accelerators
Expedition 2 replaces these with the following items:
- Plastic Parts
- Cooling Coils
- Shredder Gyros
- Frequency Modulation Boxes
- Ion Sputters
The total value requirement remains the same, and the materials are not difficult to obtain. However, if you previously made significant optimizations to the item acquisition paths for Expedition 1, you may need to make some minor adjustments now.
Major Reward Differences
The truly unique aspect of Expedition 2 lies in the adjusted rewards. Here are the bonuses players who have already participated in one Expedition can receive on their second attempt:
XP Boost
- Complete Expedition 1: 5% bonus XP
- Complete Expedition 2 (consecutive): 10% bonus XP
Scrappy Materials Bonus
- Complete Expedition 1: 6%
- Complete Expedition 2 (consecutive): 12%
Repair Value Bonus
- Complete Expedition 1: 60%
- Complete Expedition 2 (consecutive): 70%
Stash Expansion
- Complete Expedition 1: +12 inventory slots
- Complete Expedition 2 (consecutive): +24 inventory slots (cumulative)
It's clear that these rewards are related to the number of times you've participated in Expedition, indicating the developers are strongly encouraging players to participate in the project consecutively.
In addition to the continuous buffs, if you participated in the first Expedition but failed to obtain all 5 Skill Points, you can make up for the missed Skill Points in Expedition 2 at a rate of 300,000 Warehouse Value per Skill Point, provided you have already obtained all Skill Points in the second round.
Efficient Money Making
For players who want to quickly obtain 10 Skill Points, efficient money making is especially important. In the current map, Buried City remains one of the maps with the highest per-minute rewards. Here's a list of the best locations on this map for your convenience in looting.
Grandioso Apartments
The spawn rate for accessories here is extremely high. Various drawers and cabinets on different floors of the apartment building can spawn a large amount of loot. After looting, keep moving forward; there's a building under Highway with a room that can be breached, which also contains a lot of loot.
Space Travel & Research Buildings
Both buildings have 4 to 6 floors of lootable space. Each desk may spawn 1 to 4 different containers, not to mention the multiple lockers on each floor. Space Travel Building also has a hidden, breachable room on the 6th floor, containing a large amount of high-level loot.
These areas combined can accumulate over 100 containers in a short time, so if you're still short on cash, don't hesitate, head to Buried City immediately.
A word of caution: you can use your keys freely before Expedition, as they will be reset to zero, so use them as soon as possible.
Retention vs Reset
As seen above, participating in Expedition has many benefits, but its most troubling aspect for players is that your account will be essentially wiped clean; all the weapons you painstakingly crafted will be lost with Expedition.
Here's what you can keep or lose while participating in this project:
You Keep:
- Unlocked maps
- Codex entries and lore
- Raider tokens
- Cred and merits
- Cosmetics
- Personal event progress
- Raider deck progress
- Leaderboard records
- Expedition-earned stash slots and skill points
You Lose:
- All inventory items
- All coins
- Player level
- Skill points (base)
- Blueprint unlocks
- Workshop and bench upgrades
- Quest progression
- Stash upgrades (reverts to base + Expedition bonus)
After a reset, all blueprints will be reset, so it's crucial to acquire them again as quickly as possible. Some blueprints are only available on specific maps or under specific conditions. Below are some key blueprints to help you obtain them quickly.
- Tempest → Night Raid only
- Wolfpack → Night Raid only
- Bobcat → Locked Gate only
- Volcano → Hidden Bunker only
- Snap Hook → Electromagnetic Storm only
- Fireworks → Cold Snap only
While there's no guarantee you'll get them, knowing their drop information will significantly improve your search efficiency.
Now it's time for the final decision: should you participate in Expedition 2? If you value long-term XP growth, want more storage space, or have participated in Expedition 1, then Expedition 2 is perfect for you. However, if you prefer a stable gaming experience and dislike account resets, you can skip Expedition and still enjoy the game.
In any case, participating or not participating is for a better gaming experience in Arc Raiders. Happy gaming!
