GTA 6 PS5 vs Xbox Pre-Orders: Is the 8:1 Sales Gap Actually True?

Rockstar Games appears to be gradually gearing up for a new round of Grand Theft Auto VI promotion. Although the company has not yet revealed the full soundtrack lineup or the specific identities of all the actors involved, a series of recent clues has already brought GTA 6 community back into the spotlight.

Travis Scott, Future, Metro Boomin, and other musicians have posted artwork featuring game-related elements, Miami has begun preparing a massive Vice City advertisement, and Steven Root has confirmed his involvement in the voice cast. GTA 6's marketing campaign seems to be gradually expanding from online information into the real world.

Next, EZG.com will take a look at the latest clues that have appeared so far, including the music lineup, voice cast, and the latest developments in Miami's real-world promotion.

Musicians

The musicians connected to Grand Theft Auto VI are not limited to American rappers. As artists from different countries, speaking different languages and working across a wide range of styles, have begun posting related content, GTA 6's music lineup is attracting even more attention.

The biggest name right now is still Travis Scott. He posted new artwork across his platforms featuring a GTA 6-style design, with a dancer and a prominent VI logo. He said that returning to games would require Rage and a lot of dancing, adding that he would see everyone soon in Grand Theft Auto VI.

The reference to returning to games naturally reminds many players of Fortnite. Travis Scott previously held a famous virtual concert in Fortnite, so his latest statement has led players to speculate about whether he could be involved in a similar event in GTA 6.

The artwork itself also contains an interesting clue. The scene appears to be connected to the strip club Jack of Hearts in GTA 6. While there is currently no way to confirm whether Travis Scott will appear in the game as a character, such a location reference seems somewhat unusual if he is only providing music for a radio station.

He also wrote Phase One in the post. This wording could suggest that there will be a Phase Two, or even that more musicians will gradually reveal their involvement with GTA 6.

Travis Scott is not the only musician to post related artwork. Hendrix Smoke also shared an image featuring Jack of Hearts as the background and tagged Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and Kodak Black, along with the caption Let's ride. This promotional style has led players to wonder whether these musicians could be involved in GTA 6's music content in some form.

Future and Metro Boomin also posted artwork in the same style at almost the same time. Earlier, 2025 Grand Theft Auto VI Extended Look showed Boomin inside Only Raw Records studio.

Most players did not connect the scene with real-world musicians. Now, some have begun speculating that DJ or musician inside the studio could be Metro Boomin.

The speculation mainly comes from the character's appearance, especially the headband, which bears some resemblance to Metro Boomin's past looks. While this is not enough to confirm the character's identity, Rockstar Games has previously brought real-world musicians into GTA universe. In 2021, Dr. Dre officially appeared in GTA Online and had his own recording studio.

Besides Travis Scott, Future, and Metro Boomin, other musicians have also started posting content that could be connected to Grand Theft Auto VI. Morgan Wallen shared an image of an empty swimming pool, a scene that had previously appeared in GTA 6 Trailer 1.

Keith Richards posted an image of an iguana, although it is currently unclear whether The Rolling Stones as a whole will be involved or whether only Keith Richards' work will appear in the game.

Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro posted an image of a pink flamingo. CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso shared images related to a superyacht, while PinkPantheress and Fred again also posted content connected to the same yacht. Yung Lean shared the artwork previously used by Future and Metro Boomin.

There is currently no official explanation for what each of these images represents. They could be connected to different radio stations, or they could simply be teasers for upcoming GTA 6 music projects involving these musicians.

Rockstar Games previously mentioned that it would use more creative marketing methods in the future. The series of game-related artwork posts from these musicians could be part of that strategy.

Steven Root

Actor Steven Root confirmed in an interview with Associated Press that he will provide voice work for Grand Theft Auto VI, playing a character named Brian Heder.

The character is a veteran drug smuggler from the golden age of smuggling, operating mainly around Leonida Keys, which are based on Florida Keys. He continues to run his business through a dock with his third wife Lori and has become accustomed to letting other people deal with his problems. Players may be able to take missions from him and receive GTA 6 money and other rewards.

Steven Root also revealed that we may have already seen the character in Rockstar's previously released promotional footage. Since many viewers recognized his voice from King of the Hill, he believes players had already figured out his GTA 6 identity, making it difficult to keep the secret any longer.

However, the identities of the actors playing Jason and Lucia have still not been officially confirmed by Rockstar. Lucia in particular has been the subject of numerous player theories, but Rockstar has yet to reveal the answer. As GTA 6 marketing campaign continues to expand, it remains to be seen whether more actors will reveal details about their roles.

Miami Kaseya Center

GTA 6's real-world promotion in Miami is also showing clear progress. Over the past few weeks, Rockstar Games and Tetu have been working on a large promotional campaign that will place Grand Theft Auto VI advertisements across Miami.

The massive billboard on top of Kaseya Center, home of Miami Heat, has now entered the installation stage. The words Welcome to Vice City, GTA 6 logo, and the classic Vice City font can already be clearly seen on the billboard.

The related components had been prepared outside Kaseya Center for some time, with workers carrying out the final organization and installation. Recently, new progress was also captured by a drone, showing that the entire billboard is now almost complete.

If the plan moves forward as expected, more GTA 6 promotional material could appear across Miami over the next few weeks. Rockstar has previously used real-world cities for large-scale marketing campaigns. GTA 4 placed extensive advertising across New York, while GTA 5's city-wide promotion also left a strong impression on players.

Now, Grand Theft Auto VI is once again connecting real-world Miami with Vice City, and this type of marketing fits the game's setting particularly well.

The advertising campaign previously faced opposition from some Miami officials. However, a related vote this week ultimately passed by a 4-3 margin, allowing the advertising campaign to continue.

Besides Kaseya Center, some umbrellas in Miami Beach could also be transformed with a GTA 6-inspired design. If the current plans continue to move forward, Miami streets could gradually begin filling up with more Vice City elements.

The music lineup is starting to reveal new clues, Miami's real-world advertisements are gradually taking shape, and Steven Root has confirmed his character. All of these signs suggest that GTA 6's marketing campaign is beginning to produce more new information. It remains to be seen what Rockstar will bring next.

GTA 5 created a highly distinctive narrative structure with three playable protagonists: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.

Players could switch between them, each with their own lives and troubles, making the three-character setup one of Grand Theft Auto 5's most memorable features.

GTA 6, scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, is taking a different approach. Rockstar has reduced the cast to Jason and Lucia, with their relationship set to play a much larger role in the story.

Where GTA 5 Fell Short?

A Rockstar studio head recently mentioned that, following Grand Theft Auto 5, the team discussed increasing the number of protagonists, even considering a four-character structure.

Yet, the more characters there are, the less time players can devote to each one, and the more likely players' emotional connection with each character is to be diluted. Ultimately, the team decided to scale back to just two protagonists: Jason and Lucia.

This highlights the limitations of GTA 5's three-protagonist structure. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor were all distinct, and their dynamic fit Grand Theft Auto's fast-paced satire, chaos, and storytelling style particularly well. 

The problem was that players' attention also had to constantly shift between three different lives. Just as one character's story began to build emotional momentum, the game could hurry on to someone else.

This sequel has more room to keep Jason and Lucia connected through shared missions, everyday activities, and even the way they earn and spend Grand Theft Auto 6 money together, allowing their relationship to develop naturally over time.

What Arthur Changed?

Red Dead Redemption 2 offered a different answer.

Arthur Morgan bore almost the entire emotional weight of the story on his own. After the botched Blackwater heist, he fled with Van der Linde gang, gradually forced to choose between his personal convictions and his loyalty to the group.

Players spend time hunting, camping, riding, and chatting as Arthur, while also seeing how he reacts to strangers, minor events, and everyday life.

After spending dozens of hours together, a simple line of dialogue, a moment of silence, or even a subtle gesture can carry significant emotional weight.

Rockstar aims to bring the depth of Red Dead Redemption 2 world, its sense of interactivity, and the emotional bond players formed with Arthur into GTA 6.

This means quiet, everyday moments are just as important; only when players have grown accustomed to living alongside the characters do the subsequent dangers and conflicts truly pack a punch.

Why GTA 6 Chose a Couple?

The biggest difference between Jason-Lucia duo and Grand Theft Auto 5 trio is that players focus not just on the individuals, but on the relationship between them.

The official site has already outlined the direction of their story: after a heist goes wrong, they are swept up in a criminal conspiracy engulfing Leonida, forcing them to rely even more heavily on one another.

Jason's character profile even suggests that meeting Lucia might be the best - or worst - thing to ever happen to him.

This adds a relational dimension to the dual-protagonist structure. Players will care about what happens to Jason and Lucia individually, while also constantly watching to see where their relationship ultimately leads.

In a sprawling open-world game, this relationship can play out across countless mundane moments, rather than relying solely on key plot beats to drive it forward.

Whether they are planning their next job, scraping together GTA 6 money, or simply exploring Leonida together, these everyday moments serve to shape their relationship.

Romance Isn't Enough

However, simply making Jason and Lucia a couple won't autogenerate the kind of emotional resonance Arthur Morgan achieved.

Whether players ultimately care about them won't depend on the level of a relationship bar or the number of romantic interactions.

Character development in Red Dead Redemption 2 wasn't confined to major plot points; much of the emotional depth emerged from seemingly ordinary moments.

Jason and Lucia need that same kind of gradual development.

How they interact day-to-day, who backs down first during a conflict, and how they face each other after a failed mission - these details may prove more significant than any scripted romance mission.

As long as players feel they are witnessing a relationship evolve over time, even ordinary scenes can serve a narrative purpose. 

Arthur Set the Standard

Arthur raised the bar significantly regarding player expectations for Rockstar's protagonist characterization.

In the past, many players were satisfied if a Grand Theft Auto story was simply entertaining. However, after experiencing Red Dead Redemption 2, they now expect a protagonist with a fully realized character arc - someone who leaves a lasting impression.

The challenge facing Jason and Lucia is even more complex.

With Arthur, Rockstar mainly had to make one character work. GTA 6 must make Jason work, make Lucia work, and make their relationship feel convincing as well.

If one character lacks substance, players might easily view the other as the true protagonist; if the relationship lacks credibility, the extensive shared narrative could suffer.

Ultimately, the dual-protagonist structure risks repeating a problem seen in GTA 5: having more perspectives can actually result in players forming deep emotional connections with fewer characters

Conversely, if the structure succeeds, Grand Theft Auto 6 could effectively bridge two distinct design philosophies from Rockstar's past.

GTA 5 demonstrated how multiple protagonists can expand freedom in missions and storytelling, while Red Dead Redemption 2 proved the immense emotional payoff that comes from spending a long time with a single character.

For GTA 6, players will certainly still care about mission rewards, vehicles, weapons, and Grand Theft Auto 6 money; yet, what ultimately determines whether the story leaves a lasting impression will likely be Jason and Lucia themselves.

With GTA 6 now deep into its pre-release campaign, Rockstar has continued to spotlight the main game while saying almost nothing about GTA 6 Online.

Rockstar has handled online launches very differently in the past. GTA Online followed Grand Theft Auto V only two weeks after its September 17, 2013 debut, while Red Dead Online arrived roughly a month after Red Dead Redemption 2.

In this instance, however, while GTA 6 is confirmed for a November 19 release, the developers have yet to announce the new online mode's official name, core gameplay mechanics, or even a tentative launch window.

If the plan were to launch GTA 6 Online shortly after the base game, the continued absence of any promotional activity suggests this goes beyond standard confidentiality measures.

Delayed to 2027?

With the base game of GTA 6 set for November 19, following the previous strategy of a multi-week gap would push the new mode's launch to mid- or late December - right in the middle of Christmas and New Year holidays.

For an online game of this magnitude, that is hardly an ideal launch window. GTA Online faced severe server strain upon its 2013 debut, and GTA 6 Online would likely face an even larger player base on day one.

Beyond login and matchmaking issues, the developers would have to simultaneously manage the in-game economy, mission progression, and potential server outages; concentrating all these pressures during the year-end holiday season makes little sense.

Consequently, if GTA 6 Online does not launch simultaneously with the base game, it is more likely that the developers will forgo the brief remaining window of 2026 and push the launch to 2027.

Launch Can't Be Bare-Bones

Another reason GTA 6 Online might require a longer preparation period is that player expectations for launch-day content have shifted dramatically.

When GTA Online first launched in 2013, its content was actually quite limited. 

It took thirteen years for the developers to gradually introduce heists, business ventures, real estate, contracts, events, and a vast array of vehicles, ultimately building it into the massive experience it is today. 

However, the strategy of launching first and gradually adding content later might not work for Grand Theft Auto VI Online.

Players have grown accustomed to the current scale of content in GTA Online. If the new title launches with only a handful of missions, vehicles, and properties - requiring players to wait years for the rest - it is unlikely to be received as well as the original was thirteen years ago.

GTA 6 Online needs to launch with a relatively complete suite of features - including properties, vehicles, heists, business ventures, races, and free-roam activities - right from the start. Its GTA 6 money economy and roadmap for future updates also need to be established beforehand.

At this stage, GTA 6 Online functions more like a standalone online game requiring long-term, independent operation, rather than just a multiplayer mode tacked onto the main GTA 6 title.

If GTA 6 Online is expected to support years of future content, spending a few extra months to build a comprehensive launch framework makes more sense than rushing to release it alongside the base game.

No Rush to Promote

Beyond development progress, the promotional timeline may also explain why the developers have remained silent on GTA 6 Online so far.

The base game of GTA 6 is substantial enough to carry the entire initial launch period on its own. Jason, Lucia, Vice City, the new map, and the narrative content are enough to command massive attention; there is no need to introduce Online at this stage and force the two components to compete for players' attention.

Separating the two is actually a more strategic move.

Letting the single-player portion of GTA 6 complete its initial launch cycle - and then officially revealing GTA 6 Online a few months later, when many players have finished the story and are seeking new content - can generate a second wave of hype, potentially creating a peak in interest rivaling the original launch.

Therefore, the absence of a Grand Theft Auto VI Online trailer right now does not necessarily mean the project is behind schedule. The developers may simply be intentionally holding it back to kick off a separate promotional campaign after Grand Theft Auto VI has been released.

GTA Online Will Continue

Even after GTA 6 launches, the existing GTA Online is unlikely to bow out immediately.

After all, the game has been running for thirteen years and still boasts a massive amount of content and stable revenue; there is no reason for the developers to shut down the existing GTA Online the moment the new Online arrives.

However, the continued operation of the original GTA Online does not mean the developers need to delay GTA 6 Online just to retain the existing player base. For many veteran players, starting from scratch might actually be the most appealing aspect of the new title.

Over the past thirteen years, many players have amassed extensive business empires, real estate, vehicle collections, and vast fortunes in GTA Online; the introduction of increasingly outlandish special vehicles and equipment in the later stages has created a vastly different experience compared to the game's early days.

Shifting to Vice City - earning Grand Theft Auto VI money from scratch, getting a first car and basic apartment, and gradually building up an empire - could recapture that sense of progression and growth that defined the early GTA Online experience, while also making money an important part of early progression.

Consequently, for players who already own everything in Los Santos, starting fresh isn't necessarily a burden; in fact, it might be the very reason they are willing to make the switch to GTA 6 Online.

Based on current information, GTA 6 Online potentially missing a 2026 launch does not necessarily mean the project has run into trouble.

A larger launch scope, heightened player expectations, and the need to build a new GTA 6 Money economy all provide valid reasons for a delayed release.

If the next-generation Online experience is truly intended to run for many years, taking a few months longer to prepare than GTA Online did thirteen years ago is hardly surprising.

Money has always been important in GTA series, but in the past it was mostly a reward for completing missions. In GTA 5's single-player mode, players can earn money through races, side jobs, and some assets, but the real big profits mainly come from story missions and large-scale heists.

The problem is that money earned through free exploration has little to do with plot progression. Later in the story, after completing Union Depository, the character has tens of millions of dollars, but there are few truly worthwhile places to spend it, and the importance of the economic system diminishes.

GTA 6 appears to be changing this. Current previews connect heists, stolen goods, cash, fences, and story requirements more closely, allowing money-making activities to influence both open-world decisions and story progression.

Funds and Heist System

Current Grand Theft Auto 6 previews describe three different forms of money and loot.

The first category is funds in BuckMe bank account, which is relatively safe.

The second category is cash the player carries, which needs to be deposited into the account via ATM. If the character dies, the money on their person may be lost.

The third category is duffel bag loot, representing the value of stolen goods currently being carried.

This means that after stealing something, the player doesn't immediately have usable GTA 6 money.

Jewelry, drugs, and other stolen goods obtained from stores, outposts, or other targets need to be handed over to the corresponding fence, i.e., black market dealers, to be sold before they can be converted into cash.

These stolen goods come from robbery targets of varying sizes.

The most basic are ordinary street shops like convenience stores and mobile phone repair shops, with potential profits of only a few thousand dollars. These locations may not even appear on the map as dedicated Money-Making Opportunities. Players can attempt a robbery after entering a store.

Higher-value targets can include jewelry stores, banks, and other businesses offering larger potential takes.

Criminal gangs and compounds are also high-value targets, potentially containing cash, drugs, and other sellable loot. There are quite a few of these compounds in the world. Vans appearing on the map seem to function more like smaller, random robbery opportunities.

The trailers and screenshots have also shown what appear to be large Heist scenarios, such as Jason and Lucia entering a large Vault.

However, current information suggests that this type of content is more of a story mission; whether these heists can be repeated freely outside story missions remains unconfirmed.

Money-Making Opportunities

Grand Theft Auto 6's handling of heist targets differs significantly from the traditional open-world map filled with icons.

Some high-value targets can appear directly on the map, while other opportunities may gradually emerge through story characters, NPC tips, fence messages, or exploration.

Criminal hideouts may not be marked in advance; sometimes they may simply be discovered by chance in the world.

Players can rob stores they enter, not just those explicitly marked on the map, requiring them to consider various world information to determine where to strike.

Heist Process

Once a target is found, the actual execution becomes more complex.

Some stores have back doors and hidden rooms, potentially containing safes. The passwords sometimes need to be found by the player, or obtained from other characters; in the demo, a fence even directly sent the safe combination.

The environment also influences the process. Stores may have security cameras, and employees, security guards, and ordinary customers may resist. If the player makes a mistake, NPCs may even actively try to stop the robbery.

Different entrances, security setups, NPC reactions, and safe information will make store robberies more varied, moving beyond the fixed process of pointing a gun, taking the money, and escaping.

Fences Complete The Robbery Loop

In GTA 6, different types of stolen goods must be handed over to corresponding fences. Current information mentions Drug fence, Jewelry fence, and Car fence, with other categories potentially appearing later.

These contacts won't all be available from the start; players will need to get to know them gradually as the story progresses and exploration unfolds.

This will also influence the player's choice of heist targets. Even if a high-value location is discovered, without a corresponding way to sell the stolen goods, the loot may not be immediately convertible into cash.

Whether a high-yield target is worth pursuing also depends on the contacts the player currently has.

Therefore, a heist isn't just about successfully leaving the scene. Escaping the robbery is only part of the process, since stolen goods still need to reach the right fence before they become usable cash.

Making Money Important Again

One of the most noticeable changes to GTA 6 economic system is that money in Grand Theft Auto 6 directly affects the main storyline.

Preview reports indicate that certain story missions require players to reach a specified Cash Goal before progressing. According to preview reports, these requirements are designed not to keep story-focused players grinding for too long.

Compared to Grand Theft Auto 5, the biggest difference in this design is the greater freedom in raising money. GTA 5 often features a specific heist, such as Michael's involvement in Jewel Store Heist because of debt.

Grand Theft Auto 6, on the other hand, requires players to prepare a sum of money at certain stages, allowing them to decide how to earn it. Ordinary stores, banks, compound locations, and other high-value targets can all become sources of funds.

GTA money earned also has more defined uses. Currently confirmed spending options include clothing, makeup, hairstyles, headphones, vehicle modifications, and garages.

Players can also register stolen vehicles as Personal Vehicles, although high-end vehicles cannot be registered directly at the beginning of the game; these abilities unlock as the game progresses.

Player-owned housing appears to be more limited than in some previous Grand Theft Auto games. Preview reports suggest Jason and Lucia's fugitive status affects how safehouses work, although Rockstar has not yet detailed a traditional property-buying system.

The situation with businesses is less clear. The original video suggests that story mode may not retain the traditional business ownership system, but this has not been confirmed.

Rockstar developers have reportedly acknowledged an economic imbalance in the later stages of GTA 5: characters had over $30 million, but not enough content worth continuing to invest in. As for how Grand Theft Auto 6 will address this issue, the official details are currently limited.

Based on current previews, money appears set to remain relevant for much longer than it did in GTA 5's story mode. Compared to the situation in GTA 5 where there was too much money but nowhere to spend it, earning money in this game will be more meaningful.

After a wait of over a year and a half, GTA 6 has finally revealed its true form to players once again.

Rockstar's newly released 26-minute "extended look" lacks narration and doesn't detail gameplay systems, but the numerous gameplay clips are enough to give the outside world a clearer understanding of the game's current direction.

Of course, 26 minutes is far from enough to answer all questions, but based on the content shown, several key areas to watch in GTA 6 are clear:

How will the relationship between the two protagonists affect the plot? How vibrant will Leonidas be? How much deeper will the crime system be compared to its predecessors? And how will Rockstar ultimately take over GTA Online, which has been running for over a decade?

Dual Protagonist Core

GTA 6's story revolves around Jason Duval and Lucia Camino, and their relationship will clearly be a crucial part of the plot.

On the surface, this is somewhat similar to GTA 5's multi-protagonist switching system. Players can switch between different characters, and in some missions, the two will need to cooperate.

For example, in the demo, Jason helps Lucia escape through a window of an apartment being searched by the police.

However, this time, the dual protagonists are clearly more than just a matter of switching characters. The developers have mentioned that the relationship between Jason and Lucia will be affected by player actions.

How the player acts, how the two interact, and certain choices in the story can all potentially change their relationship.

It's not yet certain whether this will lead to different endings, but it at least shows that the developers want their relationship to be an integral part of the story, rather than simply cramming the two protagonists into the same mission line.

Therefore, rather than how to switch characters, I'm more interested in how far Jason and Lucia's relationship will ultimately develop.

Open World Leonida

After seeing this demo, I'm less concerned about the size of GTA 6 map. What I find truly significant is that Leonidas feels more lived-in than previous GTA cities.

Apartments, bars, nightclubs, rooftops, streets, suburbs, and various indoor spaces appear one after another, with a large number of characters active in many places.

Vice City is still the most prominent part, but Rockstar clearly doesn't intend to just create one larger city; wetlands, towns, coastlines, and other areas will also occupy a significant portion.

However, the most noticeable element is NPCs. The differences between the passersby in this demo are very obvious - their physiques, ages, clothing, and movements are all different.

Individually, these differences can be attributed to more detailed graphics and models, but when so many people in different states appear on a single street, the feeling is quite different.

As seen in Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has always excelled at truly integrating NPCs into the world. In GTA 6, this design clearly continues to develop.

Crime System

Gunfights, robberies, car chases, and police pursuits are all still present, so GTA 6 will still feel like GTA players are familiar with.

However, judging from this demo, Rockstar has clearly refined many details. Neither the characters' actions during robberies nor their reactions to the police are as simple as the "crime - wanted - escape the police" formula of the past.

This makes me particularly interested in how GTA 6 will handle the consequences of crime. Red Dead Redemption 2 has already made similar attempts, where player actions don't just affect the immediate conflict; they continue to influence how NPCs and the world react to you.

GTA 6 is unlikely to directly adopt Honor system, given that the two main characters are criminals themselves. But if Rockstar truly wants to bring this approach to Leonidas, the focus might not be on judging whether the player is good or evil, but on how you behave.

If different criminal activities not only affect Wanted Levels but also income, how GTA 6 Money is accumulated, and how NPCs and regions react to the player, then the entire crime system will be much more interesting than before.

A New Open-World Benchmark

After this demonstration, the most obvious improvement in GTA 6 is undoubtedly the graphics.

Character facial expressions, animations, ambient lighting, crowd density, and city details - almost every aspect is far more complex than in GTA 5. If these elements remain stable in the final release, the improvement goes far beyond just looking more realistic.

GTA 5 in 2013 already pushed the standards for large-scale open-world games forward once, and Red Dead Redemption 2 later raised the bar for detail and immersion to another level.

Therefore, the real challenge for GTA 6 is that Rockstar is now trying to surpass itself. After waiting for so many years, players certainly won't be satisfied with just a larger map and a more beautiful Vice City. At least from these 26 minutes, Rockstar has indeed prepared much more than that this time.

Whether GTA 6 will sell well is no longer a big question mark. What's more worth watching now is whether it can push the standards of open-world games forward once again after its official release.

The recent leak of GTA 6 gameplay and maps has caused quite a stir. Although one of the main figures involved, Cyberleek, only released a few gameplay clips, it has already given us a lot of room for speculation about unreleased content.

The leaked clips mainly include details of the game's open-world design, environmental interactions, NPC behavior, and daily activities. While the official stance on the authenticity of the content hasn't been explicitly stated, Rockstar's repeated subpoenas to various media outlets suggest that at least some of this content is genuine.

Vice City Map

The most striking aspect of the leaked video is Rockstar's adjustments and optimizations to the environmental details of Vice City.

Unlike previous Grand Theft Auto titles, where buildings and landmarks primarily served as visual decorations or specific mission areas, in GTA 6, the developers seem to have focused on creating fully functional open spaces closely integrated into daily gameplay.

The video showcases various types of locations, including nightlife venues, beaches, shopping districts, and indoor commercial spaces.

Based on Rockstar's previously released Leonidas setting, these leaked details suggest the new map may include more diverse environments, expanding from the previous urban areas to the current coastal regions.

Nightlife Gameplay

One of the most detailed areas shown in the leaked Vice City Map video is a nightclub.

Compared to similar buildings in GTA 5, GTA 6 nightclub is much more lively. The video shows many NPCs gathered, dancing and moving around, with significantly more frequent interactions with the environment.

In previous games, NPCs typically followed simple rules, with limited interaction and reactions. However, NPCs in GTA 6 seem to have been introduced into a richer social environment, with increased interaction between crowds, animations, and characters, making the entire Vice City atmosphere feel more realistic.

Beach

The beach scene in the leaked footage further demonstrates GTA 6's pursuit of realism. In GTA 6, the beach is no longer just a tourist attraction, but a place full of pedestrians, vehicles, and various activities, with added details such as the movement tracks left by Jason riding his bike.

If the leaked details are accurate, this design philosophy aligns well with Rockstar's long-standing practice of creating a believable Vice City even without direct player interaction.

This same philosophy is evident in Vice City's traffic density, NPC movement, and environmental effects.

Previously released official videos showcased a highly detailed Vice City skyline, featuring dense buildings, waterways, and various modes of transportation, confirming Rockstar's claim of creating one of their most complex open worlds to date.

Besides Vice City, the leaked videos also revealed Leonidas's surrounding islands, rural areas, and wetlands, hinting at a richer exploration environment.

The expanded map could make GTA 6's open world one of Rockstar's most ambitious environments to date.

Shops

The leaked gameplay videos show a shopping area with multiple stores, including a game store and other retail establishments. These details suggest that GTA 6 may expand the influence of commerce in the open world and introduce a new commercial economic system.

In previous GTA titles, many shops primarily served to create atmosphere or provide simple interactive features. However, in Grand Theft Auto VI, shops seem to have been given more detailed elements to encourage exploration, such as replica game boxes, posted advertisements, and layout changes.

Supercars and Gas Stations

Another leaked gameplay video shows Jason driving a high-performance sports car through Leonidas, eventually stopping at a gas station.

Unlike Grand Theft Auto 5, where vehicles were mainly used for transportation, GTA 6 seems to place greater emphasis on vehicle-related immersion.

The video showcases mechanics potentially related to fuel and more detailed vehicle interactions, suggesting that driving may be more than just a means of transportation; it's a deeper part of the exploration process.

The video concludes with a chaotic conflict involving NPCs and vehicle damage, further highlighting Rockstar's emphasis on the unpredictability of open-world events.

Zombix

A video leaked by CyberLeek also features a game item called Zombix, which may be a consumable related to health restoration, temporary effects, or character status management. It's reasonable to speculate that GTA 6 might feature a more sophisticated item system and consumable mechanics than its predecessors.

This also hints at a deeper level of gameplay preparation, allowing players to carry and use different items to provide varying effects for their characters depending on the situation.

A similar mechanism appeared in Red Dead Redemption 2, where food, medicine, and other supplies played a crucial role in maintaining Arthur Morgan's condition.

Taser

An interesting video clip shows Jason infiltrating a suspected industrial facility, engaging in a confrontation with security personnel, and then using a taser to subdue them.

The introduction of the taser, a non-lethal weapon, likely indicates that Grand Theft Auto VI will no longer be limited to the traditional combat or escape modes of its predecessors.

Players may have more options when dealing with specific situations, especially in stealth encounters, rather than simply having to immediately shoot enemies.

Furthermore, during Jason's infiltration, he also interacted with vehicles, including a car theft. This may suggest a more sophisticated car theft mechanic, requiring players to bypass security systems or choose different methods depending on the situation.

Areas Still for Improvement

While the details revealed in these leaked videos have generated considerable excitement among players, they also expose several areas that require further refinement.

NPC Animations

Some NPC animations shown in the videos appear repetitive, with certain movements seeming less natural than others. Interactions with characters sometimes lack smooth transitions, and some physics-based environments show signs of unfinished development and optimization.

These issues are not unexpected for a AAA game. Rockstar's ambition to develop a more complex and expansive open-world environment and more diverse gameplay modes makes these minor flaws difficult to avoid.

Furthermore, with a considerable amount of time remaining before GTA 6's release, it's hard to guarantee that Rockstar won't make changes in these areas after this leak. The specific game environment and gameplay will only be revealed in the extended gameplay demo released on Netflix on August 27th.
