Starting June 5th, EA FC 26 will launch a two-week event - Path to Glory. This is the first event in EA Sports' Festival of Football series, meticulously crafted to coincide with the 2026 World Cup.
Path to Glory not only features event mechanics closely related to the real-world World Cup, but also offers players a large number of powerful player cards and an interesting player card upgrade system.
Without further ado, let me introduce this event in detail.
Event Gameplay
Basic Rules
Path to Glory event will last for two weeks (June 5th to June 19th). During this period, FC 26 will release a large number of special player cards related to World Cup participants in two batches; these will be referred to below as PtG player cards.
The first batch of player cards will be available on June 5th, 2026, and the second batch will be available on June 12th, 2026.
These cards already have strong initial abilities, but their most enticing feature is that they can receive multiple ability upgrades based on real-world match results. In other words, if your real-world team wins, your in-game player cards will become stronger.
It's important to note that after the event ends on June 19th, while you will no longer be able to open new PtG players from card packs, this will not affect the upgrading of existing player cards.
In other words, until the player corresponding to the card is eliminated in real-world World Cup, or until World Cup final ends on July 19th, your owned PtG player cards will have the opportunity to upgrade.
Therefore, the potential for appreciation of these PtG player cards is very high and should not be missed.
Upgrade Rules
According to information from FUT 26, player cards can be upgraded when a team participating in World Cup wins 1 group stage game, 3 group stage games, reaches Round of 32, Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, or Final.
Some upgrades grant the player card a 99 Sub Attribute, while others permanently increase the player's OVR by 1 point. Furthermore, when a team reaches the quarter-finals, the player card will also gain five-star Skill Moves and five-star Weak Foot.
Of course, player cards receive even greater upgrades when a team reaches the finals. Upon reaching the finals, a player card gains 99 Face Stat; when the team wins, the player card gains 99 Face Stat and an OVR boost of 1 point - making it an incredibly powerful card.
Furthermore, when a team wins in extra-time, certain player cards gain 99 Composure and 99 Stamina; when a team wins in penalty shootout, player cards gain 99 Composure, 99 Penalties, and 99 Stamina.
This upgrade system will make FC 26 and World Cup incredibly fun. Imagine sitting in front of TV or computer, intensely watching World Cup, and as your favorite team wins, certain player cards in your hand upgrade accordingly.
How to Obtain PtG Player Cards?
In FIFA 26, there are several main ways to acquire these players with unlimited potential.
Packs
This is the primary source of most player cards in the game. During the event, you'll have a chance to obtain PtG player cards currently in your lineup from card packs. Of course, which ones you get is entirely based on luck.
SBC and Objectives
During Path to Glory event, EA will release additional event players through Squad Building Challenges (SBC) and Objectives.
In SBC, simply submitting a player lineup that meets the specified conditions will give you a chance to obtain PtG player cards for this event. This is a good way to reliably acquire player cards during the event.
In Objectives, you need to complete World Cup-themed missions introduced by FC 26 - their content is closely related to World Cup. Completing these missions will reward you with some PtG player cards.
So, if you don't have enough card packs to open, or if you're unlucky, don't worry, you can directly obtain PtG player cards through SBC and Objectives.
Transfer Market
This is the most direct method. Other players may put tradable PtG cards they've opened from card packs on Transfer Market, which you can then acquire directly using FC 26 Coins.
However, predictably, players from some of the favorites or star players will be very expensive. If you want to acquire their PtG cards this way, it's best to have enough Coins prepared.
Player Roster Predictions
World Cup has 48 participating teams, each with 23 to 26 players, making over 1000 professional players eligible to participate.
However, not all of these players will have PtG cards in FIFA 26. EA's experts usually try to select one or two players from each country and create PtG cards for them. In special cases - when a team from a particular country is considered a favorite to win - the number of PtG cards may increase.
Below is a list of players who may have PtG cards, discovered by players through data mining. This list is not official information and should only be used as a reference.
