AION 2 Gear Upgrade Guide: How to Improve Gear without Wasting Resources?

As the global release of AION 2 enters its final pre-launch phase, NC America is building hype for the new servers with a two-week Creator Competition.

Titled War for Atreia, this event invites 60 content creators from North America, Europe, and Latin America to compete, centering on the long-standing conflict between Elyos and Asmodian factions in AION series.

The event runs for approximately two weeks and features Legion rankings, Campaign Bounties, Viewer Recruitment, Hidden Bounties, and viewership rewards.

War for Atreia Overview

War for Atreia is a major creator competition held during the lead-up to the global launch of A2, featuring 60 creators, 3 regions, and 6 captains.

The 60 participants will join either Elyos or Asmodian faction. With 20 creators from each region - split evenly with 10 per faction - the setup results in six regional Legions.

This structure maintains direct competition within each region while allowing teams from different areas to collectively contribute to their faction's global progress.

Because the competition begins during the game's launch window, early character progression will also matter. Creators will also be progressing their characters during this period, leveling up, improving equipment, gathering materials, and building up A2 Kinah alongside their War for Atreia activities.

The event features two parallel competitive tracks: Global Faction War and independent rankings for each Legion/Team. Campaign Bounties and Viewer Recruitment will affect both competitive aspects.

Draft Time

War for Atreia's first major broadcast will take place on September 23 at 10:00 AM PDT, with AION 2 streaming the draft live on Twitch and YouTube as all six captains build their respective teams.

The draft here refers to the official team formation process. Participating creators have already been confirmed for the draft pool, and captains must select their teammates from the candidate list for their respective regions.

Six Captains

All six captains have been announced, with two representing each region.

• North America is led by Stoopzz and Sonii;
• Europe's captains are Baggins and Wakayashi;
• Latin America is led by captains Rakin and Tixinha.

Each A2 captain is a key content creator representing their specific region and faction, and they will be responsible for assembling their full rosters.

Draft Rules

In addition to the six captains, the remaining 54 creators will be divided into three regional draft pools, with 18 candidates per region.

The two captains from the same region will take turns making picks; each will select nine teammates to join themselves, forming a 10-person Legion. This results in 20 participants per region - 10 for each faction - bringing the grand total across all three regions to exactly 60 people.

The draft process will be livestreamed, allowing selected creators to react in real-time. AION 2 also encourages captains to campaign for their target players prior to the stream, giving the draft itself the feel of a competitive show.

Once all picks are finalized, the name and sigil for each Legion will be revealed.

Event Start Date

Scoring does not begin immediately after the draft. Official competition kicks off on September 30, coinciding with the start of A2's Advanced Access period.

The global launch is scheduled for October 5. Consequently, the first half of War for Atreia covers the early access phase, extending into the first week or so following the official launch.

For participating creators, those opening days will be especially important for establishing their characters, collecting gear, building up Aion 2 Kinah, and preparing for whatever Campaign Bounties appear during the competition.

Officials currently describe the event as a two-week competition, though the exact end date and time have not yet been announced.

This means the 60 creators will be competing almost from day one of the global release, while players joining after October 5 can still follow the event rankings.

Scoring System

It has been confirmed that War for Atreia will track results across two categories: Global Faction War and Top Legion/Team standings.

Creators can advance their standing in both competitive tracks by completing Campaign Bounties and securing Viewer Recruitments during the event. Progress on a single activity could simultaneously help one's Legion climb the team rankings and contribute to the overall faction score for Elyos or Asmodians.

However, as of September 22, A2 has not released a full points or scoring table, nor has it specified the point values ​​for different bounties, PvP activities, or Viewer Recruitment tasks.

Consequently, it is currently impossible to determine the specific scoring methods for various Campaign Bounties or the relative weight of points assigned to Viewer Recruitment versus other types of missions. 

This information may still be provided during the draft on September 23 or in subsequent rule updates prior to the start of the competition.

Viewer Participation

While the competitive slots for War for Atreia are limited to 60 content creators, the event also offers opportunities for viewers to get directly involved.

AION 2 officials have confirmed that watching your favorite streamer will earn you exclusive rewards, and that Viewer Recruitment itself will affect the competition's progress. Hidden Bounties will appear midway through the event, and exclusive Twitch Drops are also planned.

This means that beyond simply watching the stream and tracking the scores of Elyos and Asmodians, players can engage with the competition by watching their favorite creators, supporting them through Viewer Recruitment system once its details are announced, and claiming Drops.

Meanwhile, players entering A2 themselves can follow the same early-game progression taking place on stream, including leveling characters, upgrading equipment, gathering materials, and accumulating AION Kinah for their own launch progression.

Specific requirements regarding watch time, reward details, Twitch Drop dates, and the mission criteria for Hidden Bounties have not yet been fully disclosed.

AION 2 players interested in participating should keep an eye on the draft event on September 23; the full Legion rosters, names, and sigils will be revealed during this broadcast, and subsequent event information will probably center on these teams.

How to choose a class in AION 2? Class strength is certainly important, but it is not the only factor that should determine your Main. In the current class system, no class is so weak that nobody wants it. PvE, PvP, solo content, and farming all have classes that suit different playstyles.

There is actually no need to keep focusing on DPS rankings. If you plan to play one main reason for a long time, you should pay more attention to your playstyle, whether you prefer melee or ranged, your solo ability, and whether you mainly play PvE or PvP.

This AION 2 class guide will cover class roles, party composition, and actual performance to help you find the class that truly fits your playstyle.

Classes

At global launch, the main DPS classes in AION 2 are Assassin, Sorcerer, Spirit Master, and Ranger. Assassins use dual daggers and are a melee DPS, while Rangers use a bow and are a ranged class.

Sorcerer is a ranged magic DPS, while Spirit Master relies on magic and summons to fight. Brawler is also a DPS class, but it will not be available at the global launch of AION 2 and will come in a later update.

Tank classes are Templar and Gladiator. Templars use a sword and shield, focusing on defense and holding aggro while also providing offensive and defensive buffs. Gladiator is more offense-oriented and works as an off tank between a tank and DPS.

If an AION 2 party has both a Templar and a Gladiator, Templar will usually handle the main aggro.

Support classes include Chanter and Cleric. Chanter is an offensive support with moderate healing, party buffs, and a hybrid playstyle that combines melee and ranged capabilities. Cleric is more defense-oriented, with stronger healing, resurrection, and invincibility skills, while also being a ranged class.

Party Composition

A standard AION 2 party has five players, with a basic structure of one tank, three DPS, and one support. There is no particularly strict gatekeeping between classes. The main thing to watch for when forming a party is duplicate buffs. Different classes can provide additional value through their buffs, but the same buffs do not stack.

For example, Chanter and Cleric can be in the same party because they provide different types of buffs. Bringing two clerics does not provide the same additional value. DPS duplication is completely fine. An AION 2 Party can have three Rangers, three Sorcerers, or three Assassins.

If you are aiming for an optimized setup, Templar, Gladiator, Chanter, Cleric, and one additional DPS can cover more different buffs. However, there is no need to waste time chasing a perfect composition for normal dungeons. One tank, three DPS, and one support are already enough.

AION 2 does not have any completely obsolete classes, and there is no specific budget class designed for Free-to-Play players. All classes basically follow the same gear progression, and reaching the same combat power requires roughly similar amounts of Aion 2 kinah.

AION 2 class strength also cannot be judged by DPS meter alone. DPS classes usually deal more personal damage, but Tanks are responsible for holding aggro and keeping party's damage stable, while Supports maintain party's HP and provide buffs. Looking at party as a whole, personal damage does not fully represent a class's actual contribution.

Melee vs Ranged

The difference between melee and ranged is actually not as large as it might seem. Some AION 2 boss fights favor ranged classes, while other mechanics are better handled by melee. The biggest advantage of Ranged is obviously the ability to attack from a distance, which makes positioning easier in some situations.

Melee has one very important advantage: Block. Active Block responds very quickly and lasts for around 1.5 seconds. Against certain mechanics, AION 2 Melee classes can use Block to tank the hit directly instead of having to perform a perfectly timed Dodge every time.

If you simply want a class with a higher margin for error, Gladiator and Templar are more suitable because of their stronger survivability.

Combat Performance

In AION 2 PvP, gear is often one of the most important factors. If one player has a significant gear advantage, gear gap itself can matter more than class counters. Even when both players have similar gear, factors such as opening moves, cooldowns, crowd control, consumables, and skill choices can affect the result.

For AION 2 under-geared solo PvP specifically, Assassin, Gladiator, and Templar stand out. Assassins have very high burst and stealth, and can return to stealth after securing a kill, making it easier to leave the battlefield and look for the next target.

Gladiator combines damage and survivability, while Templar has very high durability along with decent damage. Both have Knockdown Chains, and Knockdown cannot simply be removed, making them difficult to deal with in solo PvP.

Sorcerers have very high burst, but their cooldowns are longer and more fragile. Chanter has both offensive and defensive tools, and its actual performance in AION 2 may be stronger than expected. 

Cleric has excellent survivability but weaker kill potential. It can often struggle to kill an opponent, but it is also difficult enough to deal with that the opponent may simply choose to retreat.

In AION 2 Abyss PvP, many fights take place in small-scale and mid-scale battles, which can be a good environment for melee classes.

Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, and Cleric are better suited to large-scale battles, where ranged damage and ranged support provide more value within large formations. Templar can stand on the frontline and pull enemy AION 2 Ranged players into its own formation.

Chanter can provide support while also having ranged capabilities. Gladiator is more like a frontline bruiser, using defensive skills to push forward with the team. Assassins have relatively limited room to operate in large AION 2 formations and are better suited to looking for opportunities behind frontline or actively seeking smaller-scale fights.

AION 2 class balance will continue to change, and switching your main during the first month after launch is not a disaster. Most players will eventually develop alts, anyway. There is no need to search for the perfect class. Class strength is certainly worth considering, but the class that will actually stay with you is the one whose gameplay fits the way you want to play.

The first global test of AION 2 has ended. Reviews on Steam have been mixed, with Playtest holding a 69% positive rating. As the test progressed, player feedback also improved, with Combat, Game Progression, and Game World receiving more positive feedback.

AION 2 Advanced Access is scheduled to begin on September 30. If the goal is to reach Level 45 as quickly as possible, simply following main quest can easily lead to a situation where the level keeps up but the gear falls behind, slowing down the entire process.

This AION 2 1-45 leveling route works for both Asmodian and Elyos and can also be used when leveling an alt. Players familiar with AION 2, or those who have already gone through the progression in Korea or Taiwan versions, can further reduce the leveling time once the route becomes familiar, with a target of around 4-5 hours.

Level 1-21

Level 1-21 is one of the more time-consuming parts of the entire AION 2 leveling process, with many side quests, feathers, and seal dungeons concentrated in this stage. Once the route is familiar, it takes around 2 hours.

When first progressing through AION 2 main quest, keep an eye on Mini Map. Whenever feathers appear nearby, collect them along the way whenever possible. They can provide titles and other items needed during the early leveling process.

After entering a major city in AION 2, a group of side quests will usually appear around Level 16-17. You can normally pick up four or five quests at once, and completing around 6-7 side quests during Level 1-21 should be enough.

AION 2 side quests are not only useful for EXP. They also provide gear, accessories, and damage-related stats. Only following the main quest can easily lead to insufficient damage or gear during later boss fights. Repeated deaths also mean running back to the area again, and 30-50 minutes can quickly disappear on a single quest.

Seal Dungeons do not need to be completed on a separate trip. After opening Mini Map, if a question mark appears near main quest or side quest route, check it along the way. Completing it can also reward Aion 2 kinah.

During Level 1-21, newly obtained weapons and accessories should be replaced in time. If deaths become frequent while progressing through main quest, check whether better weapons or accessories are available to chase.

Level 21-45

After reaching Level 21 in AION 2, leveling should mainly focus on main quest. There is no need to clear every side quest just for EXP at this stage, as many of them are not worth the extra time.

Around level 32, some side quest rewards become more generous, but there's no need to go out of your way for them. Just complete the side quests you encounter along the main quest route. Around level 32-33, adding one or two extra quests is usually enough to make up the level gap and earn some Aion 2 kinah, then continue pushing the main quest.

By Level 45, Aion 2 gear replaced along the way should have gone through another round of upgrades. Once Gear is ready, you can start preparing for the next dungeon.

Things To Know

When Aion 2 servers are crowded at launch, some quests may have competition for mobs. Certain quests require you to kill specific spawn mobs, and you must actually land hits on mob for the quest to count. Melee characters have shorter attack ranges, making these targets harder to tag in crowded areas.

If a quest area is too crowded during the early days of Aion 2, Range characters will have an easier time handling these quests. Melee players can also group up with nearby players to complete them.

During fast leveling, weapons and accessories have a higher priority. Both can provide damage stats, while armor mainly provides defensive stats. Faster clearing is more important during the leveling process, so after obtaining new gear, prioritize damage-related stats.

As main quest progresses, Main Weapon will be replaced frequently. After obtaining a new Green Weapon, dissolve the old gear and enhance the new weapon to +5. After obtaining a Blue Weapon, enhance it to +5 as well.

For Skills, prioritize Aion 2's damage skills. Left Click, Right Click, and AOE skills can be upgraded first. Whenever further upgrades are available, increase their levels as much as possible until Level 8 and unlock Specialization. Divine Points and Skill Points should also be invested in damage skills first.

Mini Map needs to be checked frequently during Aion 2 leveling process. When you encounter a Feather, Question Mark, Teleport, or Kisk, unlock it along the way whenever possible. When returning to previously explored areas, these locations can be used directly to reduce travel time.

When the distance to the quest objective is more than 600-700 meters, prioritize Teleport. At around 400-500 meters, Wings can be used directly if Wing Stamina is sufficient. When Wing Stamina is limited, pay attention to the flight cost. Learning how to use and cancel AION 2 Wings efficiently can reduce wasted time during movement.

Teleport points should also be unlocked along the route whenever possible. Use Teleport for long distances, and use Wings for shorter distances when Wing Stamina is sufficient. This can reduce unnecessary running throughout Level 1-45 process.

New weapons, accessories, titles, and other gear will constantly enter the inventory during leveling, so the inventory should be organized regularly. Pay attention to Damage and Movement Speed stats on Titles as well. Replace the current title whenever a more suitable one is obtained.

Following these methods avoids wasting time on unnecessary quests and travel while making sure the essential side quests and gear are covered during the early levels. Once the route becomes familiar, AION 2 1-45 fast leveling can save a significant amount of time, with the potential to reach Level 45 in around 4-5 hours. The same process can also be used directly when leveling an alt.

Pre-downloading is now available for AION 2 Launch Scale Test, which precedes the global release. The test runs from September 17 to 18, serving as a warm-up for Advanced Access period starting September 30 and the global launch on October 5.

The test supports both Steam and PURPLE; participation is accessible to all, requiring no beta keys or special invitations.

However, there are significant restrictions regarding availability and content: gameplay is limited to 6 hours per day, and the character level cap is set to 37. Features such as Marketplace, player-to-player trading, the in-game store, Closet, and Founder's Pack rewards will be disabled.

Since all data will be wiped after the test concludes, these two days are best spent trying out classes, getting a feel for combat, and understanding the early-game leveling process, rather than focusing heavily on gear or resource accumulation.

Schedule

AION 2 Launch Scale Test spans two days, with 6 hours of availability each day, totaling 12 hours.

The schedule is as follows:

• September 17: 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM (PDT)
• September 18: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM (PDT)

Pre-downloading is already open; players intending to participate should configure their client, graphics, and basic controls before the servers go live.

With only 6 hours available daily, downloading last-minute updates or spending too much time adjusting settings could easily waste precious playtime.

How to Participate?

Steam players can visit AION 2 store page and get in Request Access in Playtest section. This test is open to the public; no invitation codes or prior registration lists are required.

PURPLE also supports Launch Scale Test. Players who already use NCSoft platform can participate directly via PURPLE.

Steam players should note that the test utilizes a standalone Playtest client. Once Launch Scale Test ends, this version must be uninstalled, and the official AION 2 client must be downloaded prior to Advanced Access or the official launch. PURPLE players do not need to take this extra step.

Players with slow download speeds or limited hard drive space should keep this in mind.

Test Content

The structure of Launch Scale Test indicates that it is primarily designed as a pre-launch server stress test. When many players enter the game simultaneously, actions such as logging in, creating characters, switching maps, progressing through quests, fluctuations in A2 Kinah, and changes in zone populations place significant stress on the servers.

Limiting availability to just a few hours a day concentrates the player base, making it easier to observe performance under peak loads.

Consequently, this test will not feature the full content of the global version. Features such as high-level gameplay, economic systems, and cosmetic collections will be restricted.

If your goal is to evaluate class mechanics, skill responsiveness, movement, and early-game quest pacing, these two days provide ample opportunity; aspects involving long-term progression and end-game content will have to wait for future releases.

Level Cap

The level cap for Launch Scale Test is Level 37, which is lower than Level 45 cap expected for the global launch.

Because of this level restriction, certain high-level zones, quests, and systems will naturally be inaccessible. Therefore, there is no need to obsessively rush to level up during A2 test; instead, it is better to focus your time on the class you intend to play long-term after the official launch.

You might start by fully experiencing one main class to see if the skill rotation, combat pacing, movement, and PvE feel suit you. If you remain undecided, you can then take the time to try out one or two alternative classes.

Attempting to level multiple classes from scratch can easily result in spending too much time repeating the introductory phases of the game.

Trading System

The test build will disable most economy-related features, including Marketplace, Kuna Exchange, direct player trading, Shop, Battle Passes, memberships, and all payment functions.

This means players cannot yet experience the full market and trading environment. Furthermore, the gear, materials, and A2 Kinah acquired during the test may not accurately reflect their actual value following the global launch.

Once the game officially launches, market prices will be influenced by player population, leveling speed, resource output, and shifting demand - conditions that are not fully replicated in Launch Scale Test.

Therefore, use these two days to familiarize yourself with the sources and uses of various items, rather than spending excessive time hoarding materials or farming specific pieces of gear.

Founder's Pack Availability

Even if you have acquired a Founder's Pack, the associated rewards will not be distributed during Launch Scale Test.

Items tied to Founder's Pack, such as cosmetics and mounts, are reserved for the later release stages. Players with Advanced Access can begin on September 30, giving them a five-day head start before October 5 Global Launch.

There are three key dates to distinguish:

• September 17 - 18: Launch Scale Test
• September 30: Advanced Access
• October 5: Global Launch

Characters and equipment obtained during the test will not carry over to the subsequent phases.

Closet Temporarily Unavailable

Closet system in AION 2 will not be available during Launch Scale Test; characters will be limited to default outfits.

In-game skins, transmogrification options, and other cosmetic content will not be fully showcased during this test. Players primarily interested in outfit collection and character customization should wait for Advanced Access or Global Launch to experience these features.

Progress Retention

During this A2 test, character levels, equipment, and quest progress achieved on September 17 will carry over to September 18, so there is no need to restart your character after the first day.

However, all data will be wiped once the second day of testing concludes. Character data, equipment, quests, and other progression milestones will not transfer to September 30 Advanced Access or October 5 Global Launch.

With this in mind, your goal for the test is clear: simply familiarize yourself with the game. There is no need to spend excessive time grinding for short-term gear.

Priorities

First, determine which class you intend to main in AION 2. Playing a class for a few hours offers a better sense of its rhythm and suitability for your playstyle than merely reading skill descriptions.

Next, familiarize yourself with the main questline, map navigation, and the sequence in which early-game systems unlock. This experience will save you significant time figuring things out once the game officially launches.

You can also fine-tune settings for graphics, keybinds, camera angles, UI, and performance during the test. Players planning to participate on September 30 Advanced Access, in particular, should establish their control preferences early so they can dive straight into leveling on launch day.

As for equipment, materials, and AION 2 Kinah, simply acquiring enough for your current progression is sufficient. Since the test lasts only 12 hours and data will be wiped afterward, it is more worthwhile to focus your time on class mechanics, combat, and leveling routes.

Global Launch of AION 2 is fast approaching, and this Launch Scale Test offers a brief opportunity to get hands-on experience with the game ahead of time.

For players who haven't yet decided on a class or are preparing to jump straight into Advanced Access on September 30, two days is enough time to get a feel for the early-game pacing and resolve various minor issues that would otherwise only crop up after the official launch.

The global release of AION 2 is confirmed to launch on October 5th. However, the approach taken for this international release differs significantly from what many players expected - namely, a direct synchronization with the current state of the existing servers.

Instead of porting over all the content accumulated on legacy servers at once, NC has chosen to launch the global release at a stage closer to Season 1. This allows players to experience the journey of early character progression, gear advancement, and progressing through dungeons from the beginning.

This arrangement is crucial for a MMORPG that has already been operating in Asia for some time. AION 2 encompasses a vast array of long-term systems, including class progression, gear development, dungeons, PvP, and open-world exploration.

If the global release were to launch directly at the legacy servers' current progress point, new players would be overwhelmed by gameplay mechanics, gear tiers, and system content accumulated over time; the launch experience would feel less like a fresh start and more like joining a long-established server.

Starting Fresh

Content progression in AION 2 Global will be closer to the early launch period of Korean servers. Players will develop their characters from the initial stages, gradually engaging with gear, dungeons, and various progression systems, rather than jumping straight into the advanced content stages currently found on legacy servers.

The primary benefit of this approach is a more complete fresh server experience. All players must build their character progress from scratch, allowing the gear market, material demand, Aion Kinah circulation, and the server economy to take shape organically from the early stages.

Players who enjoy racing for first clears, upgrading gear, theory-crafting classes, or accumulating resources through trading will find the experience much more engaging.

Directly syncing with the current state of the legacy servers could render much of the early-game content meaningless and force new players to digest a massive amount of mechanics in a short time. Starting from Season 1 clarifies the progression path and gives players time to familiarize themselves with the game's systems.

A Refined Launch

It is worth noting that while AION 2 Global begins at an earlier content stage, it will not simply replicate the state of the game when the original servers first launched.

NC is incorporating QoL improvements, system adjustments, class balance adjustments, and mechanical refinements accumulated during the operation of the legacy servers directly into the global release. 

In short, while the content progression in Global release starts at an earlier stage, the underlying experience is more refined and mature than the initial Korean release.

This is a crucial point for new players. Any long-running MMORPG is liable to face issues after launch - such as overly complex systems, unpolished progression paths, class imbalances, or gameplay mechanics requiring adjustment.

Since these issues were already identified during the operation of the original servers, there is no need for Global release to repeat that entire process.

Consequently, Global release can be viewed as a combination of early-stage content and mature operational experience. Players can still enjoy the progression pacing typical of a launch phase while avoiding some of the friction points encountered on older servers.

AION 2 Global to Adopt PC-Only Model

There is also a significant difference regarding platforms for Global release.

At launch, AION 2 Global supports PC only; players can access the game via Steam or NC's PURPLE platform. There are currently no plans to support mobile at Global launch. In contrast, Korean and Taiwanese releases offer both PC and mobile options, marking a distinct strategic shift for Global release.

This suggests that NC is positioning the game to appeal primarily to traditional PC MMORPG players. For those accustomed to lengthy dungeon runs, PvP, and keyboard-and-mouse controls, a PC-only model isn't necessarily a drawback.

However, it does eliminate the convenience of using mobile devices to handle daily tasks, manage resources, or conduct A2 Kinah-related transactions on the go.

In the long run, this will be a key aspect to watch. It remains to be seen how the absence of a mobile version might affect the player base, daily activity levels, and the overall server ecosystem - something that will likely become clearer after official operations begin.

Testing, Early Access, and Official Launch

Before the official opening, A2 Global has scheduled two important milestones.

A free Launch Scale Test will take place on September 17 - 18, allowing players to enter the game early. This test primarily serves to verify server stability and overall performance ahead of the large-scale launch; it also offers players planning to join at launch a chance to familiarize themselves with basic controls and game systems beforehand.

Players who get a Founder's Pack will gain Early Access starting September 30, allowing them to enter the servers several days before the official opening. Subsequently, on October 5, AION 2 Global will officially launch as a Free-to-Play title, allowing all players to officially begin the game. 

Although AION 2 Global launches with Season 1, it will progressively incorporate content from the legacy servers rather than remaining stuck at an early content stage for the long term.

This pacing preserves the experience of exploring and progressing on a fresh server while allowing players to gradually accumulate A2 Kinah and access subsequent updates to dungeons, gear, and game systems. Compared with launching at the same content stage as Korean servers, this approach makes it easier for new players to settle in.

The dungeon landscape in AION 2 Global's Season 1 differs significantly from previous regional releases: once you reach the mid-to-late stage (Level 45+), the objectives regarding dungeon rewards may shift sooner than anticipated.

In other words, you will hit the gear progression cap for Season 1 sooner, while economic gains from dungeons continue to accumulate. This raises a practical question: once you reach the mid-season mark, should you dedicate your limited dungeon time to gear, or pivot to Kinah farming earlier?

No Heroic Gear Drops in Season 1 Dungeons

Since Heroic Gear drops are unavailable in A2 Global Season 1, your primary PvE gear objective will essentially center on Crafted Yellow Gear.

Based on the current enhancement system, a Yellow +15 setup combined with a +3 Breakthrough represents the standard end-game benchmark for the season.

Pushing for +4 or +5 significantly increases both resource costs and difficulty; such upgrades are better reserved for critical slots that directly impact damage output, such as weapons and offensive accessories.

Heroic Gear was originally designed as a long-term pursuit. These items have a drop rate of only about 0.5% to 1% but offer higher enhancement caps and an extra Manastone slot.

Precisely because of their rarity, Heroic items gave players who had already finished their Yellow Gear a reason to keep grinding dungeons in hopes of a truly massive power spike.

With this layer of long-term chase drops missing in Season 1, players will probably complete their core Yellow Gear sets much faster than before.

Once your main character reaches a stable +15 Yellow set with a solid Breakthrough, the cost-effectiveness of investing massive resources for only marginal stat gains drops significantly.

Gear farming still matters, but its practical ceiling may arrive much earlier than expected.

Will Yellow Gear Cap Make Dungeons Harder? The lower gear cap theoretically means that Aion 2 players cannot continue to stack combat power via Heroic Gear.

Consequently, within the same set of dungeon content, the stat growth achievable through gear in Global release will be lower than in the phase where Heroic Gear was available.

However, this does not necessarily mean Global dungeons are harder.

Global release has undergone class and stat balancing adjustments, resulting in an overall increase in character power compared to the early Aion 2 environment.

Higher base class power may offset some of the combat power gap caused by the absence of Heroic Gear.

Therefore, the actual difficulty of Season 1 dungeons will depend on the final stats on the live servers, team composition, class balance, and the speed at which players can acquire Yellow Gear.

The lack of Heroic Gear limits the potential for further gear progression, but it does not mean players will inevitably get stuck in dungeons due to the gear cap.

The Level 45 Watershed

Upon entering the first Conquest Dungeon, players can begin earning tradable Aion 2 Kinah. Crucially, there are currently no nerfs to tradable Kinah earnings from this type of content.

This means that from this point on, dungeons serve not only as a means for character gear progression but also as a source of income for the account as a whole.

However, when Aion 2 players first reach level 45, gear remains critically important.

A main character might lack Yellow Gear, possess a weak weapon, have yet to perform Breakthrough upgrades, or have inconsistent enhancement levels. At this stage, every piece of effective gear can directly improve dungeon completion efficiency.

Yet, as the main character becomes fully geared, other issues begin to emerge.

Once Yellow Gear approaches +15 and core slots have undergone reasonable Breakthrough upgrades, the return on investment for chasing marginal improvements diminishes significantly. In contrast, the value of Kinah does not vanish simply because a character is nearing end-game status.

A character that has essentially met its Season 1 gear goals can still use Conquest Dungeons to consistently convert playtime into AION Kinah.

This represents the most critical shift in Season 1: as the marginal utility of gear declines, the focus of dungeon farming is likely to naturally transition from gear acquisition to Kinah farming.

Gear First or Kinah First?

There is no single, fixed answer to this question; a more reasonable approach is to evaluate the player's current stage of progression in Aion 2. Early Season: Prioritize Gear

Upon reaching level 45, your main character is usually not yet fully optimized. During this phase, you should prioritize acquiring core Yellow Gear through dungeons, crafting, and other sources.

Weapons should be the top priority, followed by offensive accessories that directly impact damage output, as well as key enhancements and Breakthroughs that significantly boost combat power.

If you halt gear progression too early in an attempt to save money - resulting in slower dungeon runs or an inability to consistently clear content - you may appear to be saving resources, but you are actually undermining your long-term returns.

Approaching Yellow Gear Soft Cap: Prioritize Kinah

Once your main character possesses a solid set of +15 Yellow Gear and has undergone reasonable Breakthroughs, you need to re-evaluate the cost-effectiveness of further enhancements.

High-investment upgrades - specifically +4 or +5 Breakthroughs - are not worth the massive resource expenditure if they yield only marginal improvements in farming efficiency; chasing perfect stats is unnecessary.

If you have extra playtime, you can incorporate alt characters into your farming rotation to increase your total A2 Kinah income, thereby accumulating capital for future Heroic Gear, enhancement costs, and marketplace needs.

The most sensible dungeon strategy for AION 2 Season 1 is neither to grind exclusively for gear from day one nor to switch entirely to farming currency the moment you hit level 45.

Ideally, you should first upgrade your gear to a level that allows for efficient dungeon farming. Once the progression of your Yellow Gear begins to slow significantly, you can scale back excessive investment and gradually shift your dungeon time toward farming Kinah to prepare for future seasons.
