With the reset of ARC Raiders Expedition 2, that familiar yet painful feeling returned: your collection is gone, all your hard-earned blueprints are gone, and the grind begins again.
As if the reset wasn't painful enough, the newly released Patch 1.18.0 brings another major adjustment: the blueprint drop rate in Hurricane First Wave Caches has been significantly reduced. For players who rely on these high-yield caches to quickly rebuild their arsenal, this change forces them to change their strategies.
So, in the current environment, how can you efficiently replenish your blueprints? This guide will lead you through a detailed analysis of the current situation and the best farming route for you.
Patch 1.18.0
ARC Raiders officials stated that they never expected players to find so many First Wave Caches so quickly. Frankly, the first player to discover that you can identify Caches by sound is a genius. This method is incredibly efficient.
Sadly, the developers didn't address First Wave Caches' mechanics in the patch; instead, they directly nerfed the blueprint drop rate. Previously, you might find 3 to 5 blueprints in a single crate; now, it's roughly halved.
However, to compensate for this significant drop, the developers increased the drop rate of high-grade materials from supply crates. Overall, the value of First Wave Caches loot remains unchanged; it's still an effective way to acquire blueprints.
Besides the adjustments to First Wave Caches blueprint drop mechanism, Patch 1.18.0 also includes several important fixes:
- Fixed a vulnerability that allowed weapons to be placed in Safe Pockets without Safekeeper Augments.
- Fixed an issue where Snaphooks could be placed in Safe Pockets.
- Added a hotfix to Dam Battlegrounds' Controlled Access Zone.
Safe Pocket vulnerability fix has a significant impact on PvP balance. This means you can no longer safely store newly acquired weapons mid-raid without proper reinforcement. They will all be at risk of being lost until you evacuate.
In other words, acquiring blueprints now requires better positioning, more precise timing, and wiser evacuation decisions. Remember, don't be greedy; knowing when to stop is the first rule for blueprint acquisition.
Blueprint Acquisition Methods
Currently, the most efficient way to obtain blueprints is by searching under specific map conditions, especially Hurricane and Cold Snap. These conditions each have their advantages and are highly efficient.
Hurricane
Even after the nerfs in Patch 1.18.0, which reduced the drop rate of rare blueprints, Hurricane map conditions remain very efficient because higher-level crafting materials have appeared, increasing the overall value of loot.
If you've just reset for Expedition 2, then looting under Hurricane conditions should be your top priority. It consistently drops:
- Bobcat
- Tempest
- Vulcano
- Bettina
These rare weapons, previously obtainable only through specific events or extremely low-probability container drops, now appear all at once in First Wave Caches, making them the best way to replenish your rare weapon inventory.
However, due to the discovery of the Safe Pocket vulnerability, looting during Hurricane now inevitably carries PvP risks. It is strongly recommended that you team up, otherwise your hard-earned blueprints may be looted by raiders.
Cold Snap
If you prefer stability, then Cold Snap is a must-try. Unlike Hurricane, Cold Snap doesn't rely on special event-specific containers. Instead, it increases the value of all loot across the entire map. This increases the drop rate of blueprints in regular containers without having to concentrate all your actions on specific supply crate locations.
While it doesn't offer extremely rare items and blueprints as frequently as before, its quantity and consistency of loot are still undeniable. And for early reset players, consistency is often crucial.
In Cold Snap, one building stands out: Research & Administration building on Dam Battlegrounds. While everyone is probably still busy treasure hunting during Hurricane, the level of competition in this building is moderate, making now your best time to search this loot-rich building.
Here you can find:
- Lockers
- Multiple breakable rooms
- Grenade cases
- Weapon cases
With a bit of luck, you can loot a large number of blueprints and weapons in this compact vertical building. Since the impenetrable containers are all on the upper levels, it's recommended to rush upstairs immediately upon entering and loot those containers first. Once you control the main spawn points, you can safely clear the breakable rooms for even more value.
Even without hurricane-level rare blueprint drops, Cold Snap provides a steady stream of blueprints, powerful mid-tier weapons and attachments, etc. If you loot quickly enough and know the spawn point locations well, the rewards will be even greater. Getting 10 blueprints in three runs is definitely achievable.
Hurricane vs Cold Snap
The choice depends on your risk tolerance.
Hurricane offers access to rare blueprints and increased high-tier material value. It is explosive, lucrative, and highly contested.
Cold Snap offers consistency, stability, and repeatable farming within predictable structures like Research & Administration.
For players rebuilding after Expedition 2, stability often wins. A steady stream of two to four blueprints per run may ultimately outperform a volatile Hurricane that ends in PvP defeat.
This concludes our guide to optimal blueprint farming routes in Expedition for ARC Raiders. Whether you prefer thrilling but highly profitable or stable and repeatable farming, remember that a methodical approach to resource acquisition remains the true key to victory. Good luck with your farming!
