ARC Raiders Expedition 2: Stop Wasting Wolfpacks! Hornet Driver Is the Best Way to Kill Rocketeers

Want to efficiently kill Rocketeers in ARC Raiders Expedition 2? Stop wasting your precious Wolfpacks! This guide will recommend the more efficient Hornet Driver, which can be used not only as a grenade but also for a variety of other purposes.

Mar 05, 2026 Author: EZG

Are you still using Wolfpack to kill Rocketeers? That's a bit too wasteful. During Expedition 2, save your Epic weapons and use them where they're truly useful.

This guide introduces the most effective weapon against Rocketeers: Hornet Driver. It's readily available and incredibly versatile. After learning about it, it might become one of your must-have items for every raid.ARC Raiders Expedition 2: Stop Wasting Wolfpacks! Hornet Driver Is the Best Way to Kill Rocketeers

Overview

Unlike other Rare weapons, Hornet Driver can be crafted and used without a blueprint, and damaged but not fully used Hornet Drivers can be salvaged and reused. This ease of use makes it especially attractive in the early and mid-game of Expedition 2.

More importantly, Hornet Driver has extremely high resource efficiency. Compared to Wolfpack or other equipment, its deployment cost is much lower, yet it can still instantly disable or destroy a Rocketeer.

For players looking to efficiently eliminate ARC Enemies, complete Trials, or survive longer in dangerous areas, learning how to properly use Hornet Driver can significantly reduce costs and risks.

Mechanics

Many people might ask, given its power, why haven't so many players discovered and used it? That's because Hornet Driver operates very differently from traditional grenades or explosives.

Importantly, it doesn't activate immediately upon impact. Instead, after being thrown, the device enters two phases:

  • Delay Phase: After landing, Hornet Driver activates after a brief delay.
  • Activation Phase: During this time, Hornet Driver scans nearby ARC Enemies and fires an arc of electricity, disabling components within its radius.

Because of this mechanic, Hornet Driver has what players often refer to as the optimal point of impact. Landing too close or too far from the target may render it ineffective.

In most cases, when throwing the device, you should maintain a distance of approximately 20 meters from Rocketeers. This distance allows Hornet Driver to activate properly and scan for vulnerable components.

Location of Acquisition

The best place to obtain Hornet Driver is at Blue Gate, which has the largest area and the most flying drones. You can go directly to the northwest side of the map to find these two drones:

  • Courier
  • Hornet

Both drones have a chance to drop Hornet Driver. Note that not every Courier drops a Hornet Driver. Therefore, the safest method is to defeat Hornet and extract the item you want. While defeating it is difficult, destroying them will not only yield valuable Hornet Drivers but also a large amount of experience.

Uses

Hornet Driver has three specific uses in ARC Raiders.

Workshop Upgrade

One of the main uses of Hornet Driver is to upgrade your gear bench workshop. To do this, you need to collect the following ARC Raiders items:

  • Power Cable x3
  • Hornet Driver x5
  • Electrical Components x5

These materials are relatively common, except for Hornet Driver, which is harder to obtain. After collecting them, you can go to Workshop tab to upgrade your gear bench.

Trifecta Quest

As part of Trifecta Quest, you not only need to destroy two Hornets but also find at least one Hornet Driver and safely return it to Shani.ARC Raiders Hornet

Upon completion, you will receive items including outfit camos, Raider Hatch Keys, Defibrillators, and Dam Control Tower Key.

Grenade

Finally, Hornet Driver can be used as a throwable weapon, as mentioned above. Its power is the same as Showstopper's . Both can shock and stun the thrown target.

However, Showstopper detonates immediately upon direct impact, like an impact grenade. It also has a longer-lasting radar-like stun effect.

Despite these differences, in actual gameplay, you'll find that Hornet Driver is actually more effective against flying targets like Rocketeers because its aiming system can automatically lock onto nearby ARC Enemies, allowing for precise strikes.

Projection Techniques

Rocketeers have weaknesses in several areas, but the most reliable and quickest way to destroy them is to disable their two Rocket Thrusters.

Some players throw Hornet Driver from behind Rocketeers, but this will probably cause Hornet Driver to target only Rocketeers' turrets instead of the thrusters. In most cases, this will only disable one component and not destroy the entire device.

Similarly, throwing too high or directly below Rocketeers won't completely destroy enemies. The most reliable method is to approach it from the front and throw Hornet Driver slightly above it.

During the activation phase, Hornet Driver prioritizes attacking the nearest components within its range. When placed directly above Rocketeers, the two nearest components are usually Rocket Thrusters mounted on its back.

Therefore, the arc will almost simultaneously strike both Thrusters, at which point Rocketeers will essentially lose stability and fall to the ground.

Even if Rocketeers fall from the air, they may not be immediately destroyed. However, the damage caused by disabling two Rocket Thrusters is usually the most severe. If it survives the crash, there are two simple ways to kill it:

  • 1. Use another Hornet Driver
  • 2. Attack Rocketeers' wings

Under Rocketeers' wings, sometimes referred to as the shoulders or armpits, the armor is completely exposed, and almost any weapon can quickly kill it by shooting this area.

An important tip: don't rush directly at Rocketeers unless they are clearly on fire. Some players have done so and ended up being finished off by a weakened Rocketeers. Therefore, keeping your distance is usually the safer option.

That concludes this guide to using Hornet Driver in ARC Raiders. Defeating enemies doesn't necessarily require expensive equipment or rare blueprints, and this item is the best proof of that.

For players looking to conserve ammo and effectively attack ARC Enemies in Expedition 2, Hornet Driver is probably one of the most useful combat tips. Happy Expedition!
