ARC Raiders Expedition Guide: Why You Should Skip This Reset?

With new content arriving alongside a full reset, ARC Raiders players are facing a tough choice. But right now, skipping expedition might actually be the smartest way to enjoy what the game has to offer.

Apr 17, 2026 Author: EZG

The next expedition window for ARC Raiders will be open from April 29th to May 4th, 2026, with the actual departure and character reset taking place on May 5th. However, a growing number of players want to skip this expedition.

Expeditions are a core mechanic in almost all extraction shooters. They wipe out almost all your character data, skill points, hard-earned blueprints, and resources.

This guide will explain why skipping an expedition now is a wise choice, and I'll offer some solutions at the end.ARC Raiders Expedition Guide: Why You Should Skip This Reset?

Expedition Window Meaning

To start an expedition, players must deliver specific valuable items to expedition progress project. Once enough items have been delivered, expedition window will open, and you simply wait for expedition day. On expedition day, your character will be reset.

While this sounds harsh, a reset isn't entirely a punishment. It also provides additional skills, increased weapon repair rates, extra resources from raids, and exclusive expedition skins unavailable through other means. Therefore, participating in expeditions is indeed appealing, and some players genuinely look forward to each cycle.

The brilliance of ARC Raiders lies in its ability to allow players who don't want to participate to skip it. Other games, such as Tarkov, force all players to undergo a complete reset every four to six months, whether they like it or not.

I believe this optional mechanism is the main reason why ARC Raiders has a higher player retention rate than similar games. For casual players, having to do an expedition every two months is a disaster. All Blueprints and skill points they painstakingly farmed are wasted.

Reasons and Solutions

Here are the reasons why I don't recommend participating in this expedition and some solutions I personally believe in:

Time Reasons

Currently, data wipes occur almost simultaneously with the addition of new content. We're about to get a new map and a new boss line, meaning that when my save file is wiped, I'll be stepping into entirely new content with almost nothing. No blueprints, no equipment, no preparations, just a Pharaoh, scattered loot worth 100,000 gold, and bandages.

This raises a new problem: players have been eagerly anticipating Riven Tides update, and they want to experience it as soon as it's released. Even if it requires completing specific questlines or some preparation, players want to be fully prepared.

For example, if the new ARC is massive, even requiring vertical movement to reach its weak point, then I need to get Snap Hook Blueprint beforehand. Once the expedition is complete, everything is gone, and I have to retrieve it all to truly experience the new content.

So, the choice becomes: should you complete the expedition, lose all your accumulated loot, and start over? Or should you skip the expedition, keep your equipment, and truly enjoy the new content that the developers have spent a month creating? For me, the answer is clear. Skipping the expedition isn't laziness; it's the only reasonable choice at this point in time.

Solution

I believe Embark is creating unnecessary conflict for players here. If you choose not to do expeditions, you're already prepared to experience new content. If you do expeditions, you're indirectly penalized for participating in core game systems. This trade-off shouldn't exist. The solution seems simple:

Simply adjust the schedule to completely eliminate the conflict, giving expeditions their own time on the calendar and allowing new content to launch when players are truly ready for them. Right now, it feels like both systems are vying for the same time slot, leaving players caught in the middle.

Game Experience Reasons

Many players play during data resets with a win-or-lose mentality, rushing through the game, often using free packs in pointless situations just to avoid losing anything while getting the best ARC Raiders Blueprints and upgrading their crafting table to max as quickly as possible.

If you die midway, there's no penalty, so risk-free endless dungeons mean one thing: boredom. If you're constantly using free loadouts, you're ruining your game experience. Of course, the deeper issues go far beyond free loadouts.

My real complaint about Arc Raiders is its extremely linear progression; almost everything can be completed on day one. Every patch release, whether it's new weapons, items, or blueprints, everything is immediately available - you just need to enter dungeon.

If you understand the mechanics, you can have all the new content within hours of an update going live. Once you have all the new blueprints and weapons on day one, there's nothing left to strive for in the following month. Dolabra shotgun is a perfect example; obtaining its blueprint simply involves randomly looting a container somewhere in the world.

This leads to another problem: the random number generator system. This means that under this mechanic, no matter how well-prepared you are, or what weapons you're carrying, the probability of finding a blueprint from a container is completely random. Your loadout becomes meaningless.

Solution

I believe Arc Raiders should break away from this linear model and build a more rewarding progression system, such as requiring players to complete a certain number of objectives and reach community milestones to unlock the next chapter's content. This way, the community can collectively drive the story forward, and new content will feel like it was earned through hard work, rather than suddenly released.

These are my thoughts on ARC Raiders expedition. Do you agree with these points? What are your opinions?
