The second round of Expedition has just ended, and the third round of collection requirements is already upon us. How to collect all the required items as quickly as possible is now the biggest question for all players who want to continue participating in this project.
While many ARC Raiders players focus on farming specific buildings or areas to consistently obtain loot, new observations reveal that the real secret to achieving higher rewards lies in map conditions and lucky loot drops.
After studying hundreds of containers across various raid types, we have gained a clearer understanding of how loot is generated and how players can increase their chances of obtaining valuable items such as weapons, blueprints, and keys.
How Container Loot Works?
Before discussing map conditions, understanding the container loot generation mechanism in ARC Raiders is crucial. Each time you open a container, the game's background processes perform three distinct steps:
Number of Items Generated
First, the game determines how many items will appear in the container. Each container has its own range of item quantities.
For example, a locker typically generates 2 to 4 items, and the specific number of items each time the container is opened is randomly selected within this range. Different types of containers have different item count ranges, which explains why some containers are more valuable than others.
Randomly Generated Standard Loot
Next, ARC Raiders determines the specific types of items. Each item slot randomly draws items from the container's regular loot pool. For example, the regular loot pool for a locker in a building differs from the item pool for a toolbox or other container.
Randomly Generated Lucky Items
Finally, the game performs an additional random draw to determine if a container will drop lucky items. ARC Raiders Lucky items are special because they don't come from the container's regular loot pool. Instead, they are drawn from a completely separate loot pool.
This is why sometimes containers have a higher item count. If a locker that usually holds three or four items suddenly drops five, the extra item is almost certainly a lucky drop. Lucky drops include:
- Weapons
- Keys
- Blueprints
However, it's important to note that not every lucky drop is incredibly valuable. Sometimes you might only get low-tier weapons like Hairpin.
Map Conditions
From the moment you set foot on Speranza, you know that blueprint drops vary depending on map conditions. Testing shows that Lucky Loot Pool also varies depending on map conditions.
For example, in a normal raid, Lucky Weapon drops might only be low-tier weapons, such as the basic pistol or the starting weapon.
However, under certain special map conditions, the value of Lucky Weapon Loot Pool increases significantly. Some map conditions can even yield blue or purple quality weapons from Lucky drops.
Testing
To study the interactions of these map conditions and to present the data to you more accurately, we scavenged over 200 containers across multiple map conditions. All tests were conducted on Buried City, with a focus on Space Travel and Research to ensure consistency of results.
Day Raids
Day raids had the lowest loot drop rate, with only 15 Lucky drops out of 176 containers, a Lucky drop rate of approximately 10%.
Besides the low drop rate, the biggest problem is the quality of the items. Most lucky weapon drops are low-tier firearms, including basic pistols and starting weapons, with only the occasional slightly better weapon appearing out of sheer luck. Other lucky drops include:
- 5 keys
- 1 blueprint
You can see that daytime raids provide a large amount of crafting materials and common loot, so they are not ideal for farming high-value weapons, keys, or rare blueprints.
However, if you're not concerned about drop quality or want to do regular map farming, this type of raid is acceptable, but if you're looking for higher-value gear, you might want to consider other types of raids.
Cold Snap
Cold Snap yields some very interesting results. Out of 180 containers, the lucky drop items are drastically different from daytime raids:
- 11 keys
- 11 blueprints
- 6 weapons
This map condition seems to be very favorable for key and blueprint drops, especially high-level accessory blueprints. The lucky drop rate is also higher than daytime raids, reaching 15%. While many keys are not very valuable, some are quite useful. For example, some keys can open rooms containing high-level weapon spawn points or extra blueprint containers.
Hurricane
Surprisingly, the drop results under Hurricane conditions are inconsistent. Under the same conditions, the number of lucky drops is as follows:
- 3 Blueprints
- 1 Key
- 5 Weapons
While the number of blueprints is small, they are all high-level accessory blueprints. In Patch 1.18.0, the developers nerfed First Wave Caches, which are only available under this map condition, but now it seems the nerf was too severe. Compared to Cold Snap, the overall results are disappointing.
Night Raid
Night Raid offers a slightly unique experience. In testing with 178 containers, the following noteworthy lucky drops appeared:
- 6 Keys
- Multiple Weapons
- 2 Wolfpack Blueprints
- 1 Tempest Blueprint
Wolfpack blueprints are particularly important because they can only be obtained through Night Raid. Another interesting detail is the weapon tier. When green-quality weapons drop in Night Raids, they may appear as Tier 2 weapons, unlike similar weapons dropped in other map conditions, which are usually Tier 1.
While Night Raids may drop fewer blueprints and keys than Cold Snap, they are still ideal for high-value farming, especially when combined with key room loot.
Optimal Farming Map Conditions
Based on testing, the current drop value for various map conditions is roughly as follows:
- Locked Gate: Best pool of lucky weapons for Epic gear
- Cold Snap: Great for farming keys and blueprints
- Night Raid: Drops unique blueprints and higher-tier weapons
- Hurricane: Drops higher-tier attachments, but less consistent drop rate
- Day Raid: Stable base drop rate, but lower value for lucky drops.
The only drawback of Locked Gate is the limited number of containers, so we won't elaborate on it above.
After reading this guide, you should have a general idea of how to find the items you need in ARC Raiders. Choosing the right places is more important than hard work, so don't waste your time. Happy looting!
