The new update for Arc Raiders, Riven Tides, launched on April 28th, bringing a twice-abandoned, desolate coastline to the west coast of Rust Belt.
From the barren Exodus port to the faded Panorama Azzurro hotel, this area hides many secrets waiting to be discovered.
Players will have to explore abandoned resorts and shipyards, while facing competition from other Raiders and a new aerial threat.
New Environmental Threats and Exploration Areas
Riven Tides adds a desolate beach on the west coast of Rust Belt to the explorable area. This location has experienced two population evacuations: the first during the desolation of Exodus, and the second when survivors of the first wave attempted to establish a settlement but ultimately failed to withstand Arc's onslaught.
From the crumbling resort to the still towering shipyard facilities, the entire area presents a unique atmosphere of desolation and remnant luxury. Players will need to traverse this exposed coastline, searching for valuable Arc Raiders Items in the ruins, while remaining vigilant against other Raiders who have already arrived on the scene. This area's design emphasizes a balance between high risk and high reward. More open areas often conceal richer treasures, but also mean greater vulnerability to attack.
Above Riven Tides, a new type of floating device called Arc Turbine begins its regular patrols. From a distance, it appears as a near-perfect inverted cone in the sunset, behaving calmly, docilely, and quietly. However, if players attempt to approach or interfere, the machine displays extremely ferocious defensive capabilities.
The official description calls it an unprecedented battle, implying that its attack patterns, movement mechanics, or phase transitions may differ completely from previous Arc encounters.
What mission Arc Turbine is performing remains a mystery, but what is certain is that defeating it requires players to possess exceptional skill, patience, and composure under pressure. This new Arc significantly increases the challenge of high-level areas and presents new demands for teamwork and tactical planning.
New Gameplay
Riven Tides introduces a small map condition called Beachcombing. During gameplay, players need to keep an eye out for the key item, Dockmaster's Detector, and use it to scan the beach area. Dockmaster's Detector's effective range covers below the sand surface, revealing various buried Arc Raiders Items.
In the complex three-dimensional terrain of Rust Belt, moving from high to low places often involves the risk of falling. This update introduces two new fall protection items: Crash Mat and Powered Descender.
These are specifically designed to mitigate damage and even instant death from height differences. However, this anti-gravity effect is not automatic; players must remain focused and accurately trigger the equipment's function during the fall.
New Event, New Project
The following introduces the new event after the update: Last Resort and the new project: Avian Alarm.
Last Resort
During Last Resort event, which runs until May 25th, experience points gained while playing on any map will be automatically converted into Merit. To gain additional benefits, players need to actively search for mini Ship Models hidden throughout the world. These Ship Models carry varying amounts of Merit depending on their rarity. Collecting enough Merit unlocks three pages of reward content.
Avian Alarm
A new Raiders project requires players to build a simple safety system to sense vibrations and atmospheric changes. This involves deploying cages at buoys along Riven Tides coastline to capture birds and use them to create Avian Alarm.
New Outfits
Riven Tides released two distinct outfits on the first day of the update. Solare Set features layered clothing and woven fabrics with a warm color palette, suitable for players who see welcoming the sunrise as a daily ritual.
Rachetta Set, on the other hand, goes completely in the opposite direction - bold colors, dynamic cuts, and a complete abandonment of camouflage, clearly designed for aggressive Raiders who rely on speed rather than stealth. These two outfits correspond to different role-playing preferences, enriching the visual expression of characters within the game.
Three more new outfits will be released throughout May. Corsaro Set is designed for tech-savvy captains who roam the high seas, its signature elements include a mechanical arm and a spring-driven prosthetic limb, emphasizing the fusion of mechanization and nautical adventure.
Castaway Set targets lone wolves who forgo hierarchy and loyalty, featuring an irregular cut and custom-made survival tools, highlighting self-reliance and unpredictability.
Sandveil Set takes a more subdued approach, with light-colored fabrics and a relaxed silhouette designed for long treks in dusty and scorching environments. Its core philosophy is that knowing when to remain still is just as important as knowing when to strike. These five outfits cover a wide range of styles, from ceremonial to pragmatic, from aggressive to covert, providing players with ample personalization options.
Arc Raiders Riven Tides update revolves around a new coastline map, Arc Turbine aerial threat, beach scavenging mechanics, fall protection gear, limited-time events and Raiders projects, and a variety of outfit sets.
These additions enhance the depth of exploration and the challenge of combat, while also extending the gameplay motivation through quest chains and resource conversion systems, injecting a significant sense of novelty into the survival experience of Rust Belt region.
