ARC Raiders Shrouded Sky 1.17.0 Hurricane Guide: Hidden Shield Mechanics, Energy Clips Trick & Expedition Wipe Strategy

Hidden tips and tricks in ARC Raiders version 1.17.0, such as how to use shields and shield chargers, some advice on expeditions, and another clever way to use weapons to help players better adapt to harsh environments.

Mar 03, 2026 Author: EZG

With the release of the latest hurricane, ARC Raiders has quietly introduced a series of mechanics that significantly alter how players survive, fight, and prepare for Expedition resets.

While these systems aren't explicitly stated in the game, understanding them will provide a huge advantage, especially in hurricane map conditions and high-risk raids. Below are essential tips and preparation strategies every raider should know now.ARC Raiders Shrouded Sky 1.17.0 Hurricane Guide: Hidden Shield Mechanics, Energy Clips Trick & Expedition Wipe Strategy

Shield Healing

When your shield is active during a storm, your character will emit a noticeable blue glow, making you easily spotted by enemies at a distance, let alone up close. Even with ample cover, your radiant appearance will remain undetected.

An effective strategy is to temporarily deactivate your shield when stealth is needed. Without the blue glow, you'll blend more easily into your surroundings, making ambushes and silent repositioning much safer, especially in areas with many PvP players.

Additionally, hurricane damage continuously depletes your shield value, but green-quality Shield Rechargers are no longer effective during hurricanes. Using them will only waste items and won't restore shield value.

The solution is to use Surge Shield Recharger, a blue-quality item that remains functional during hurricanes and actively restores shield energy. If you plan to loot First Wave Caches or fight within the storm area, Surge Shield Recharger is essential.

Currently, the best enhancement in Hurricane Assault is Tactical Mk. 3 (Defensive), which allows you to use Surge Shield Recharger while running and also includes a built-in Recharger equivalent to Surge Shield Recharger, with unlimited uses but a 120-second cooldown.ARC Raiders Tactical Mk. 3 (Defensive)

If timed correctly, its cooldown will naturally synchronize with the shield breakage cycle, making it the most effective defensive measure at present.

Expedition Recommendations

With Expedition data wipe approaching, timing is more important than ever. The following two projects should especially not be completed before Expedition:

  • Weather Monitor System
  • Trophy Display System

Completing these projects now will result in the rewards being wasted on your soon-to-be-wiped character. If you wait until Expedition resets before completing it, you'll receive all the rewards on your new character, giving you at least a slight advantage over other players.

If you didn't participate in Expedition or don't care about these small rewards, then feel free to skip it.Buy ARC Raiders Tactical Mk. 3 (Defensive) from EZG.com faster and more securely

Speaking of Expedition, if you were cheated on or lost gear due to the exploit, the developers will eventually return your items through in-game compensation. However, don't claim them immediately.

Let these compensation packs stack, and then open them after Expedition ends. This will give you a quick way to get free starting gear.

Weapon Tips

Snap Hook

In Patch 1.17.0, the old Snap Hook exploit was fixed, but not completely eliminated. You can use the grappling hook as usual, then immediately press 1, scroll backward, and drag the item into Safe Pocket.

Because of a possible input priority issue, pressing 1 can bypass the patch's limitation, making the previous Snap Hook function work again. Take advantage of this before the developers discover the exploit.

Spotter Relays

Spotters will now drop Spotter Relays. Previously, the only way to obtain them was through crafting, but that's changed.

Furthermore, Spotter Relays can lock onto enemy players, causing nearby ARC Units to automatically attack the marked target. This will open up entirely new trap-based gameplay, allowing clever Raiders to use the environment to their advantage against unsuspecting opponents.

Pop Triggers

Pop Triggers were originally designed for crafting Fireworks Boxes or recycling Crude Explosives. Now they have a new purpose: equip them to your hotbar so you can grab them anytime and throw them at a target. They will explode after a few seconds. While the damage is low, they are very useful in ambushes or confined spaces.

You can use them to damage small ARC Enemies or prank your teammates or other Raiders who will never know about this clever use.

Energy Clips

Frustrated by running out of energy ammo? Here's a clever solution. Place your Energy Clips in Safe Pockets. You can still use energy weapons normally, and even if you die, you won't lose ammo. In high-risk raids, using this method will ensure your precious energy ammo is always safe with you.

ARC Threat

The new ARC Roberts Comets look heavily armored, but they have a significant weakness: they automatically open their cores. You can kill them simply by targeting the exposed core. However, attacking while the core is closed will only waste ammo and time.

But if they self-destruct, you won't get Comet Igniter. Only by properly killing them can you obtain this key component for crafting Epic Weapon Deadline.

Firefly follows the same design philosophy: don't try to break the armor, but wait for their yellow canisters to open, then shoot directly. This significantly reduces kill time and resource consumption.

That concludes this episode on all the hidden tips in ARC Raiders Shrouded Sky Patch 1.17.0. Using them will have unexpected game effects. Good luck with your game!
