Want to know what materials you need and the best time to complete Weather Monitor System project? Don't hesitate, read on!
Weather Monitor System Project
Weather Monitor System Project is a five-part plan revolving around scavenging ARC Raiders items, battling new ARC Enemies, and targeted searches of key areas such as industrial, security, technological, and residential areas.
Unlike Expedition, this project is ongoing and doesn't reset upon death. However, the timing of its completion has a huge impact on its value, especially for players currently planning to undertake Expedition.
Step One
Step One is very simple, using materials that most players have. Here are the required materials and their corresponding rewards:
- 25 Plastic Parts - 5 Durable Cloths
- 15 Metal Parts - 5 Great Mullein
- 5 Arc Alloys - 5 Antiseptics
- 3 Oils - 3 Vita Shots
These rewards can be used immediately to craft medical items in the early game. You can craft Herbal Bandages, Antiseptics, and Vita Shots. As an introductory step, this step has very low risk and is very quick to complete, making it perfect for new players.
Step Two
Step Two will introduce your first real battle. Here are the required materials and their corresponding rewards:
- 1 Snitch Scanner - 10 Processors
- 3 Wires - 5 Advanced Electrical Components
- 3 Sensors - 3 Ziplines
- 1 Comet Igniter - 1 Raider Hatch Key
Snitch Scanners can be obtained by killing Snitches. They are easy to acquire, usually found in Security or Technological locations, and are a very common type of Arc Roberts. Comet Igniter comes from the newly released Comet ARC Enemies.
This machine will roll towards you and explode upon contact. If it self-destructs, you will not obtain Comet Igniter; to pick it up, you must kill it before it explodes.
You can completely destroy it by firing 5 to 6 bullets with a medium-powered weapon such as Renegade, followed by 2 Seeker Grenades.
Interestingly, all these rewards seem to have a theme. If you look closely at Workshop, you'll find that crafting Raider Hatch Key requires Advanced Electrical Components and Processors, so you can craft 5 more keys from these rewards.
Step Three
This step focuses on combat with ARC Enemies and targeted scavenging. Here are the required materials and corresponding rewards:
- 5 Arc Powercells - 3 Medium Gun Parts
- 5 Canisters - 2 Complex Gun Parts
- 5 Steel Springs - 3 Advanced Mechanical Components
- 1 Fine Wristwatch - 1 Renegade III
Fine Wristwatches spawn in Commercial and Residential locations, especially concentrated in the old residential area of Buried City. You can also check the red lockers at the back of the first floor of Hospital; there are always a few Fine Wristwatches there.
As you can see, the rewards in this step are all related to weapon maintenance and upgrades, so completing this step is highly recommended.
Step Four
Step four focuses on mechanical and industrial exploration. Here are the required materials and corresponding rewards:
- 10 Duct Tape - 10 Explosive Compounds
- 3 Rusted Bolts - 3 Showstoppers
- 1 Water Pump - 3 Trailblazers
- 3 Wasp Drivers - 1 Extended Barrel
Rusted Bolts typically appear in industrial mechanical areas, especially around vehicles, on car hoods, and in Blue Gate checkpoint area.
Wasp Drivers are generated by Wasps and can be forced to spawn using Snitch Scanners. Additionally, ARC Couriers drop Wasp Drivers, ARC Performance Steel, and other valuable components.
This step offers particularly generous rewards for players focusing on explosives and weapon mod optimization.
Step Five
Finally, you'll need to defeat another new ARC Threat: Firefly. Here are the required materials and corresponding rewards:
- 3 Camera Lenses - 1 Medium Shield
- 1 Damaged Heatsink - 5 Surge Shield Rechargers
- 1 Firefly Burner - 3 Sterilized Bandages
- 3 Voltage Converters - 1 Tactical Mk.3 Revival
After defeating Firefly, Firefly Burner will drop reliably without requiring special kill conditions. Tactical Mk.3 Revival regenerates 1 health point every 5 seconds and pauses for 30 seconds after taking damage, making it a powerful sustain option.
Upon completing all steps, you'll also receive 250 coins and a backpack charm in the form of an anemometer. The rewards aren't particularly generous.
When to undertake this project?
If you're planning to participate in Expedition, now isn't the best time to undertake Weather Monitor System project. You can wait until your account is reset to zero before doing it, as it's a long-term quest, anyway.
Expedition officially launches on March 1st, at which time all items in your inventory will be reset. After this project concludes, Weather Monitor System is an excellent quest for quickly replenishing your required items.
It's simple and doesn't require much of your time. Most importantly, the materials, weapon components, medical supplies, and usable items it provides will be invaluable during your initial exploration.
However, the biggest drawback of Weather Monitor System project is the lack of blueprint rewards. So, if you don't care about these rewards, you can complete it before Expedition.
Even small rewards are still rewards. Doing a relaxing project after Expedition is beneficial for your mental and physical well-being. Have fun playing!
