Picking Right Class and Spec

One reason many players want to level an alt is that they find their chosen class doesn't seem to get a suitable spot in raids.

Therefore, before choosing a class for your alt, you need to consider which class and specialization will secure you a raid spot. From a guild's perspective, certain class specializations are more sought after than others.

In BCC Anniversary Phase 3, I believe support specializations will be particularly advantageous. While some classes aren't always the most popular choices, they can help you find a raid spot quickly.

Not Recommended

Rogue

If you're a Rogue player, you know how difficult it is. While Rogues possess Improved Expose Armor skill, they offer little else of value. Unless your guild specifically needs a Rogue, avoid choosing one, as securing a raid slot is extremely difficult.

Paladin

I recommend avoiding Paladin for your alts; your guild already has enough tanks. However, if you must choose him, Holy or Ret are better options, as many guilds are currently shifting towards dual Retribution Paladin lineups. However, be aware that this requires mastering Sealing Twist.

Mage

This class might be tricky in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 3. While Arcane Mage will become very strong in Phase 3, you won't have a true support specialization at this stage, so you'll likely have to rely on luck or hope your guild has available slots.

If you have enough TBC Classic Anniversary Gold, I recommend building a Dream Druid. While this build requires certain gears to be effective, it's incredibly powerful in raids.

Pre-Raid Preparation

The entry quest chain is long, requiring you to kill monsters in multiple raid instances, so you must carefully plan the quest order before Phase 3 goes live.

Your new character needs to complete the entire Black Temple access quest chain to obtain Medallion of Karabor - the physical key to enter the temple. You will need to perform the following steps:

Unlock Hyjal Access

First, you need to establish a connection with Battle for Mount Hyjal. This is a separate connection, requiring you to collect one potion bottle each from Lady Vashj in Serpentshrine Cavern and Kael'thas Sunstrider in Tempest Keep. Submitting these potion bottles will unlock Hyjal.

Start Akama Quest Chain

This is the dedicated questline to unlock Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley. Your starting NPC depends on your faction choice in Shattrath. You need to complete this quest to proceed to the next step.

Defeat Rage Winterchill

Then, you need to enter Hyjal to defeat Rage Winterchill, after which you can pick up Time-Phased Phylactery for An Artifact From the Past.

Final Cutscene

After giving the phylactery to Akama, you need to turn in items to A'dal and then to NPC Xi'ri outside Black Temple. Accept and complete the quest A Distraction for Akama. Enabling this feature greatly benefits the aggressive Dagger Texas offense. Normally, in this tactic, the receiver runs at full speed along a designated route and will fall if any obstacle is encountered. However, with Zone Window Awareness enabled, the game will unfold completely differently.

The player will crawl to the center of the field, avoiding outside defenders trying to crowd the middle, thus creating more space for themselves or other players to receive the ball centrally. Meanwhile, your third line of defense will be stretched out, giving you more freedom in setting defensive routes and player options.

These items often come with negative effects, but Ralakesh's Impatience can offset these limitations, allowing the entire Power Charge system to function properly.

Acquisition Method

Ralakesh's Impatience is not tied to targeted drops in PoE 3.29, meaning you can obtain it from Unique gear pool with a chance while farming monsters; of course, you can also choose a quicker approach: use Chance Orbs to try crafting it yourself, or obtain it directly from the trading market with currency.

Below, I will introduce this build in three parts to help players create their own builds.

Offense

The reason this build possesses high burst damage and powerful map clearing efficiency lies in flexible use of different skills and mechanics. Specifically:

Core Mechanics

core mechanism of Whirling Assault Flicker Strike Build utilizes a resource called Power Charges - a crucial resource in PoE 2 Patch 0.5.

When players consume Power Charges and use specific skills, they gain significant buffs. For example, each Power Charge consumed and a Flicker Strike used will trigger an additional attack on nearby enemies.

So, how can Power Charges be acquired quickly and reliably? This introduces the concept of Combos.

Monk's Ascendancy Class Martial Artist allows players to gain Combos from all attacks. Simultaneously, Martial Adept Skill grants an additional Combo each time a skill is used.

Building upon this, players also need to link Whirling Assault skill with Culmination II and Ailith's Chimes support gems.

Thus, when players use Whirling Assault to attack monsters, they accumulate a large amount of Combo; once Combo is full, Culmination II consumes it to enhance the attack. Meanwhile, Ailith's Chimes will grant players a certain amount of Power Charges based on the number of Combos consumed. This allows players to continuously obtain Power Charges.

Defense

Another feature of this build is its exceptional survivability - in POE 2 Patch 0.5, survival is sometimes more important than damage output. So, how does this build achieve this?

Core Defensive Skill

Whirling Assault Flicker Strike build's powerful defensive capabilities largely stem from Ghost Dance skill.

Its mechanism is: when you have Energy Shield, the system regenerates Energy Shield based on your dodge value each time you are hit.

This mechanism, combined with the aforementioned combo mechanism, allows for very rapid Energy Shield regeneration, greatly enhancing character's survivability.

Stacking Evasion, Armor and Shields

First, players need to use Path of Exile 2 Currency build to stack Elemental Resistances to 75% by acquiring equipment, affixes, and runes.

This isn't difficult for Martial Artist build, as it possesses a Passive Skill, Way of the Stonefist, which amplifies effects of glove affixes; additionally, it has a Passive Skill, Runic Meridians, which provides extra rune slots to supplement resistances.

Furthermore, through skills or equipment, you can achieve complete immunity to Chaos Damage. This means that in endgame maps, those most annoying continuous damage ground effects and Chaos damage skills are essentially ineffective against you.

Furthermore, in POE 2 Patch 0.5, to achieve strong defensive capabilities, you can't just stack armor; you also need to stack evasion, armor, and energy shields simultaneously.

You can first manually stack your evasion to 71%, then trigger special state of class's Passive Skill. This will easily bring your evasion to 74% or higher.

Equipment

To make Whirling Assault Flicker Strike Build effective, you'll need suitable weapons and belts - specifically, belt for synergy with Way of the Stonefist.

For weapons, choose Quarterstaff. You can add affixes, but Physical Damage is recommended as it's crucial since frost damage and armor penetration rely on the character's base physical damage.

You can also stack Critical Hit Chance and Critical Hit Bonus, as Martial Artists rely on critical hits to trigger various effects and damage.

If you're lucky enough to get +3 to Level of all Melee Skills, keep it. This affix directly increases the base damage of all melee skills, providing extremely high returns.

For belts, Mageblood is recommended. It's one of the iconic belts in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5. Its effect is to make Magic Utility Flasks in your left sidebar permanently active on your character.

Therefore, you can use some Flasks in conjunction with Mageblood. We recommend using Jade Flask for a massive increase in dodge, Silver Flask for increased skill speed, and Diamond Flask for increased critical hit chance.

Nerfs

Currently, the biggest nerf to Sorcerer in Diablo 4 Season 15 PTR remains Firewall. After the official adjustments, direct damage from Pyromancy skills will only trigger Ring of Fire Variant effects, and can other damage sources can trigger continuously no longer.

And it will now spawn on you if used from Enchantment over here. As one of the most popular Sorcerer fire builds for pushing high levels, Firewall's dominance is expected to decline significantly.

Besides Firewall, this PTR also nerfed several other important Sorcerer damage sources. These include reduced Pyromaniac Glyph damage, reduced Enchantment Master legendary node multipliers, and Elemental Constellation, which requires maintaining Ice, Fire, and Lightning skills simultaneously to achieve high multipliers, has been almost halved, with its maximum multiplier reduced by half.

These changes mean that the previous strategy of stacking damage for Sorcerers is limited, further pushing us to find new damage sources in Diablo 4 Season 15.

Frostbite Mechanism Fixed

 Diablo 4 Patch 3.2.0 PTR fixed a bug with Breath of the Frozen Sea set. Previously, when an enemy entered the staggered state, Frostbite wouldn't be consumed as intended, thus failing to immediately calculate the remaining damage.

After the fix, freezing the target will consume the entire Frostbite effect, dealing the remaining damage all at once. For Sorcerers using this set, this is effectively a significant buff.

Core Stat Scalar

The biggest change for Sorcerers in Season 15 is that Core stat scalar has been increased from 1.25 to 1.625. The developers stated that they are continuously evaluating the overall balance differences across classes, and Core stat scalar helps to address some of these differences.

This is a huge buff for Sorcerers, meaning the benefits of Diablo 4 Intelligence are further increased. The damage increase per 10 points of Intelligence has increased from 1.25% to 1.625%, and the value of high-Intelligence gear will also rise accordingly.

Frozen Orb Enhancement

Another noteworthy change is to Frozen Orb. Previously, Great Orbs of Fire Variant in Diablo 4 consumed one stack of Overpower with each explosion; now, only one stack is needed to trigger three consecutive explodes.

In Season 15 PTR, as long as Overpower mechanism can be consistently utilized, Frozen Orb's output efficiency will be improved. However, this buff doesn't reach the level of changing the meta; it's more like a feel-optimization.

Ice Spikes Enhancement

The biggest change in Diablo 4 Season 15 is actually to Ice Spikes. Frostball Variant no longer requires enemies to be frozen to generate Ice Spikes, providing a more stable output environment against bosses and Elites.

While the number of Ice Spikes spawned has been reduced from 5 to 3, and the damage multiplier has been lowered from 170% to 85%, seemingly a significant nerf, the overall gameplay experience has actually improved because of more stable trigger conditions. This adjustment is particularly significant for boss fights that have previously plagued Ice Spikes builds.

Furthermore, the developers have improved several Ice Spikes-related Diablo 4 Items. Shivering Aspect has increased the damage multiplier from cooldown effects; Frozen Wake further enhances Ice Spike damage scaling; and Blue Rose ring has also significantly increased Ice Spike damage multiplier.

Breath of the Frozen Sea set not only increases health and Barrier spawns but also adds effects such as reducing Mana cost for Frost abilities. The entire Sorcerer adjustment clearly leans towards ice-based playstyles.

Ball Lightning Optimization

While Lightning build didn't receive a significant damage boost, it received a very useful experience optimization. Orbital Ball Lightning can now be cast while moving in PTR, significantly improving overall smoothness. However, Diablo 4 developers also stated that this is merely a Quality of Life update and will not bring Ball Lightning back into the mainstream, as several core multipliers for Lightning series remain nerfed.

Player Controversy

Many players have stated that in Diablo 4 Season 14, only Firewall build could reliably complete Torment 12, but the overall gameplay wasn't particularly fun. In contrast, other Sorcerer builds either lacked sufficient damage output or had weak survivability.

Therefore, many players worry that if the current balance adjustments continue when Season 15 launches, ordinary Sorcerer players may ultimately only be able to reach around Torment 10.

Chain Lightning has lost its core feature of constant bouncing, resulting in a significant decrease in responsiveness and diminished the class's overall enjoyment. Consequently, some players have abandoned Chain Lightning and are trying other builds like Ball Lightning.
