CoD MW4 Season 1 New Maps, Weapons, and Modes Coming November 6

CoD MW4 Season 1 launches on November 6 with new maps, returning modes, powerful weapons, Apex Attachments, and a dangerous new DMZ location. Here's what players can expect at launch and later in the season.

Less than a week after the release of CoD Modern Warfare 4, the studio has already unveiled the first season, which will officially launch on November 6th. The roadmap covers new and old maps, new game modes, weapons, and Apex attachments.

This article will provide you with a complete guide to CoD MW4 Season 1 content roadmap, helping you quickly understand the season's content.

New Battlegrounds

Maps at Season Launch

Three maps will be released at the start of Season 1, but strictly speaking, only one is entirely new. Let's take a closer look.

The first map, Backstab, while officially called a new map, has been quickly noticed by eagle-eyed players to be very similar to Burgundy map from Call of Duty 2.

However, for most Modern Warfare 4 players, this map will offer a completely new experience, as many have never played COD 2's multiplayer mode, making this map feel like a new addition.

The second map is Canyon, a brand new medium-sized map situated in a canyon landscape with a winding stream. From the top-down view, this map's design reflects the studio's consistent asymmetrical, real-world-inspired style, rather than a strictly symmetrical competitive layout. Vertical space and natural cover are expected to dominate the battles here.

The third map is Shoot House, returning as a snow-themed remake. This map was previously leaked, and the addition of snow is a refreshing change, even though the map's layout itself isn't unfamiliar.

Mid-to-Late Season Maps

Two new maps will be released in the mid-to-late stages of CoD MW4 Season 1. Ministry is set in and around the embassy, while Overflow centers on the factory and surrounding farmland.

However, whether these will be standard 6v6 core maps or maps limited to gunfight mode is currently unconfirmed.

Featured Kill Block Combo

One of the most intriguing additions this season is the featured kill block combo, which places Crash in the center of the map, with three blocks remaining stationary. These blocks were carefully selected based on the most popular combos from the beta version.

Notably, this combination will be integrated into several core multiplayer modes, including Search and Destroy. This means players can experience the kill-the-block mechanic in the standard 6v6 respawn mode, which is incredibly exciting. If the response is positive, this featured combination is expected to rotate in future seasons and even mid-season updates.

Game Modes

Two Halloween-themed modes will be released before the season officially begins. Possession is a party mode where players can possess enemies after defeating them, teleport to their location, and steal their gear - sounds very unique.

Infected mode will return the day before Halloween. It has been confirmed that infected players will have built-in ninja abilities, a thoughtful improvement to the gameplay experience.

At the start of Season 1, three modes will rotate in the lineup. Grind mode returns, where players will drop dog tags after defeating enemies, which need to be collected and stored in designated locations, but all items may be lost upon death.

Meanwhile, Drop Zone mode also returns, offering another familiar goal-oriented gameplay experience.

Next, Gauntlet 1v1 is a limited-time 1v1 gunfight mode related to Gauntlet event and linked to Wager Match event. Players can use trophies earned during the event to bet on winning more trophies and unlocking items faster.

Ideally, 1v1 mode should be an optional accelerator rather than a mandatory requirement for completing the event, making it a fun, risk-reward side activity rather than a chore.

In addition, DMZ has been updated, with a new building called X01 opening, along with new enemies, bosses, DMZ-exclusive events, and FOB upgrades.

The loot inside X01 is extremely risky, but the rewards are equally high, containing rare CoD MW4 DMZ items and intelligence that cannot be obtained elsewhere, but the deeper you go, the greater the danger.

Weapons and Apex Attachments

Cronin Osprey, modeled after IWI Carmel, boasts the fastest rate of fire in its assault rifle category at 882 rounds per minute. Its Apex attachment, Cronin Helix Mark II, is a double-barreled receiver that transforms the weapon into a dual-fire platform, firing simultaneously when the trigger is pulled and released in semi-automatic mode.

Weapons with this feature have always been interesting, so this one is definitely worth looking forward to. If you want to explore its usage and practice later, you can buy CoD Modern Warfare 4 Bot Lobbies, and we'll provide assistance.

CSG35 submachine gun looks very similar to FMG9 from the original Modern Warfare 3, and is believed to be based on the real-world FDP9 submachine gun. With a rate of fire of up to 1200 rounds per minute, it's the fastest in its class, and its Apex attachment, CSG Crossfire, allows for dual-wielding, something fans have been dreaming of.

Jack 12, a fully automatic shotgun based on AA12, will be released mid-season, coinciding with an event. Its Apex attachment, Jack Barrage, replaces shotgun shells with sticky explosives that adhere to surfaces and targets, detonating shortly after impact, instead of exploding on impact like a regular shotgun.

Additionally, a tomahawk melee weapon has been added to the arsenal. Overall, the number of ranged weapons is somewhat lacking, especially considering the limited weapon selection at launch.

Finally, the new Apex attachment, Hyion Auto Apex, is coming soon, transforming weapons into true fully automatic weapons with a stable rate of fire, instead of the current burst-fire-then-automatic mode.

This concludes our analysis of CoD MW4 Season 1. Frankly, the first season looks good, but it's not particularly impressive, not as good as the first season of Black Ops 7 last year.

Therefore, the wise approach for now is to enjoy the initial content, follow official announcements for map details, and then make a full evaluation of the entire season after the mid-season update. If the studio can perfectly present the new maps, then the first season may ultimately exceed players' initial impressions.
