Still Working After Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Patch 3.0.3? How to Use Insane Beast in the Ice Loot Bug?

In Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, Beast in the Ice loot bug lets players force boss drops inside Infernal Hordes - turning Aether Lords into mini Beast bosses for dozens of Mythic chances per run.

May 27, 2026 Author: EZG

Have you heard? A hot topic in Diablo 4:Lord of Hatred player community lately is the discovery of a bug that forces boss loot to spawn in areas where it shouldn't.

The core setup for this bug is incredibly simple: you only need one thing - a node in Boss Ladde Skill Tree called Out of the Cold. This node causes Beast in the Ice to spawn and attack you during Nightmare Dungeon boss fight. When this happens, defeating Nightmare Dungeon boss will give you a chance to obtain equipment from Beast in the Ice's unique item pool.

See? It's that simple. But the bug's power goes far beyond that. Today, we'll introduce how the original version of this bug doubles the loot drops when defeating a boss, including the extra Beast in the Ice loot, thus doubling the chance of obtaining Diablo 4 Mythic gear.Still Working Afte Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Patch 3.0.3? How to Use Insane Beast in the Ice Loot Bug?

Activating the Bug

Here are the detailed steps to activate this bug; simply follow them:

  1. Obtain any Nightmare Sigil, quality is not important.
  2. Activate Sigil and teleport into that Nightmare Dungeon.
  3. Without leaving Nightmare Dungeon, open the map and teleport to any Boss Ladder.
  4. Once inside Boss Ladder, immediately activate your Infernal Compass.
  5. Open the map, and while remaining inside Boss Ladder, instantly teleport to the Infernal Hordes.

After activating the bug, all enemies in Infernal Hordes that are currently considered bosses will now be treated as bosses of Nightmare Dungeons. This means that every Diablo 4 Lair Boss you defeat will drop Beast in the Ice loot at your feet. Note that after entering Infernal Hordes, you are unable to leave or go back to town, since doing so will cause the bug to become disabled.

Why is It so Powerful?

In a normal Infernal Hordes raid, you might only kill one boss, maybe a Butcher if you're lucky.

But by activating this bug, you can kill dozens of bosses in a single Diablo 4 raid.

The reason lies in a Chaos Wave in Infernal Hordes. You have a chance to trigger a Chaos Wave that spawns many Aether Lords, sometimes dozens at a time. Each Aether Lord is considered a boss, and each drops loot from Beast in the Ice.

This means you can kill 30-50 Beast in the Ice-level bosses consecutively within the 60 seconds of a single Chaos Wave. Each has a chance to drop Mythic Uniques.

Besides Chaos Wave, you can generate even more Aether Lords through the following Infernal Offerings combinations:

  • Legendary Offering: Aether Lords cause hellfire to erupt around them, and Aether Fiends spawn as Aether Lords (dropping 3x Aether).
  • Inferno Offering: Masses have a chance to spawn an Aether Fiend on death.

When these two Offerings are active simultaneously, each Mass kill has a chance to spawn an Aether Lord. Each Aether Lord then drops boss gear. Imagine how amazing this chain reaction is!

Maximizing Rewards

The basic chain mechanism already provides substantial rewards, but the rewards can be doubled again through three key nodes in Diablo 4 Skill Tree.

1. Out of the Cold (Ladder Boss Tree - 1 point)

This can be considered the trigger for this bug; it only requires 1 point to activate.

2. Total Chaos (Infernal Hordes Tree - 2 points)

Total Chaos is located to the right of the central purple Skill Tree. It makes Chaos Waves appear more frequently and reduces the number of Infernal Offerings required per wave.

3. Fearless Conviction (Nightmare Dungeon Tree - requires 3 points to reach)

This node is a hidden gem. Normally, while in a Nightmare Dungeon, killing elites and champions grants stacks of Conviction. Getting hit by elites or champions removes a stack. At the end of the dungeon, a Conviction Chest spawns, and you use your stacks to open it for bonus loot.

Here's the trick: this also works in Infernal Hordes runs when the glitch is active. There's no on-screen tracker like in Nightmare Dungeons, but the game is still tracking your Conviction stacks behind the scenes.

Just run around picking up the little green orbs that drop from elites and bosses. At the end of your Diablo 4 Infernal Hordes run-after defeating the final boss - a green Conviction Chest will spawn. Open it to get a massive amount of bonus loot: materials, gear, seals, and Charms.Buy Diablo 4 Items from EZG.com to increase your damage to improve your monster-killing speed during this bug

What will You Obtain?

Besides the thrill of grinding, what else will you get through this looping bug? The answer is: every Items that can drop in Beast in the Ice.

  • Beast in the Ice Unique Items - all of them
  • Boss trophies for Beast in the Ice
  • Mythic unique Items - at the same drop rate as farming the ladder boss

If you farm a Chaos Wave full of Aether Lords, killing 30-50 Aether Lords in one go will likely result in a Mythic item dropping. In fact, it's possible to obtain multiple Mythic Items in a single wave.

Furthermore, you will obtain dozens or even hundreds of ancestral unique items. If you are specifically farming Beast in the Ice's unique items, this is currently the most powerful farming method in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, bar none.

Still Useful?

This bug was discovered before the release of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred patch 3.0.3 on May 26th. This patch fixed numerous bugs in the game, including infinite monster spawning in War Plans, boss disengagement, and a system bug allowing players to equip multiple unique charms simultaneously.

Some players might therefore question whether this doubled reward bug is still viable after Patch 3.0.3.

As it turns out, you don't need to worry about its usability. In professional player testing and community statistics on this site, this bug still works. The number of Chaos Waves you can farm will be reduced, but compared to normal equipment drop rates and quantities, it's still excellent.

To put it simply, this farming method is not only highly effective in the final stages of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, but will also continue to work in the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 14.

Anyway, This glitch turns Infernal Hordes into the single most efficient Mythic Unique farm in Diablo 4. You're not just doubling your boss loot - you're multiplying it by dozens of times per run.

If you're looking for Mythic Uniques, set this up before it gets patched.
