Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred Top 1 Poison Rogue Build: How to One Shot Bosses Without Mythics?

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred's top Poison Rogue build uses Eaglehorn, Penetrating Shot, and Poison Imbuement to one-shot bosses without Mythics. Relies on Sightless Set, Concealment, Shadow Clone, and stacking Resolve for damage and energy sustain. This article summarizes the key mechanics.

In Diablo 4's Lord of Hatred expansion, a Poison Ballista Penetrating Shot Rogue Build centered around Ballista reached Rank 1. The most notable feature of this build is its ability to complete high-level The Pit challenges without relying on any Mythic Items.

Practical testing showed that this Eaglehorn-centric weapon setup, combined with a Sightless Set and various non-Mythic Legendary Items, achieved a seven-minute completion time at The Pit level 135, even with gear far from perfect.

This build challenges the common perception that Poison Imbuement and Penetrating Shot are incompatible, providing a reliable late-game solution for players lacking Mythic Items.Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred Top 1 Poison Rogue Build: How to One Shot Bosses Without Mythics?

Gear Selection

Eaglehorn is the cornerstone of this build's damage output. In a hidden patch for Diablo 4 and Lord of Hatred, Eaglehorn's built-in 150% multiplier effect was adjusted to correctly apply to Poison Imbuement, allowing each Penetrating Shot's Poison Damage to be multiplied independently.

Ballista's slower base attack speed actually becomes an advantage: the character has ample time to regenerate energy through equipment affixes and skills between shots.

Eaglehorn's arrow ricochet mechanism requires careful selection of shooting angles and terrain to ensure that ricocheting arrows deal secondary damage to the same target.

Using Diablo 4 Crown of Lucion helmet provides Poison Imbuement skill levels for maximum damage. If comfort is prioritized, other Legendary Helms can be used instead.

The chest armor, pants, and helmet all utilize Masterworking and Tempering affixes to stack Maximum Resolve Stacks. Aspect of Glynn's Anvil allows for unlimited Resolve stacks, each providing consistent damage reduction and increased damage.

The gloves are inlaid with Aspect of Malice, triggering independent damage increases with Knock Down effect of Concealment skill. Boots with Dash or Shadow Step effects, allowing switching weapons to daggers and stacking Overpower stacks, compensate for the lack of overpower generation in this build.

Tibault's Will pants are the core of the energy cycle, instantly restoring a large amount of energy upon entering Concealment state. Combined with Ballista's slow attack rhythm, this allows for full-energy casting of every Penetrating Shot.

The recommended Amulet is Cowl of the Nameless, providing core skill levels and various damage bonuses. Aspect of Imitated Imbuement is placed on a Ring to replicate Poison Imbuement effect, while another Ring is equipped with a damage-boosting or energy-related Aspect.

The complete set consists of five Legendary pieces, triggering Sightless Set effect to summon a permanently existing Shadow Clone.

This clone normally cannot inherit Poison Imbuement damage, but Shadow Clone's Weakened & Vulnerable branches in the build allow all enemies on the screen to be inflicted Weakened and Vulnerable states with each use of Shadow Clone, solving the problem of Poison Rogue lacking a stable source of Vulnerable.

Skill Configuration

The core damage skill is Penetrating Shot, which consumes energy to deal linear area damage. Poison Imbuement, as the primary damage-boosting method, must be cast before each shot.

Concealment skill is the core of survival and resources, casting it grants stealth, knocks down nearby enemies, provides buffs, and restores energy. Concealment's cooldown is reset by the archer's ultimate ability, Shadow Clone, creating a high-frequency cycle.

Dash and Shadow Step provide mobility and Overpower stacks. In high-difficulty progression, Shadow Step can be replaced with Smoke Grenade or Dark Shroud.

Regarding passive abilities, stacking Ferocity is crucial, as Penetrating Shot's base damage is proportional to Ferocity. Testing shows this damage increase is effective against poison.

Malice, combined with Concealment's Knock Down, maximizes the output of each round after a Concealment. Enhancing the passive further amplifies damage. Remaining skill points can be invested in Shadow Step or Smoke Grenade, adjusted based on speed runs or high-level progression.

Energy Pool is approximately 100 points, with each Penetrating Shot consuming 93 points. The energy recovery mechanism comes from the following sources: Tibault's Will immediately restores a large amount of energy upon casting Concealment, and Ballista's slow attack speed ensures that natural energy regeneration takes effect.

The combat rotation is: Concealment - Poison Imbuement - Penetrating Shot - Shadow Clone (Ultimate Skill) - Concealment again - Imbuement again - Shot again. Each rotation lasts approximately two to three seconds.

Attribute Enhancement

Prioritize enhancing Resolve stack affix on all Masterworking Slots. Each stack provides a fixed percentage of damage reduction and increased damage, far exceeding the benefits of other defensive affixes. After masterworking the helmet, chest armor, and pants three times each, the total stacks can reach over thirty.

For weapons, prioritize enhancing Poison Imbuement skill level, core skill damage, and damage over time damage. For Rings and Amulets, prioritize tempering critical strike chance, vulnerable damage, and reduced energy cost. Armor sockets use gems that increase poison damage, while weapon sockets use gems that increase damage over time.

Paragon Board

Paragon Board structure is consistent with other Poison Rogue builds, Core Glyph is Poison Glyph, placed on the board with the most Dexterity Nodes.

Prioritized Rare Nodes include Poison Imbuement duration extension, increased damage over time to poisoned enemies, and energy regeneration speed. Since Mythic Items are not used, Legendary nodes are entirely invested in damage amplification and survivability.

Mercenary Selection

The mercenary configuration is Subo, providing numerous damage over time damage nodes in its Skill Tree, significantly contributing to Poison build. Mercenary gear affixes prioritize increasing Poison Damage, damage over time, and damage against vulnerable enemies.

Practical Tips

When advancing through high-level areas, deliberately adjust your positioning when facing the boss: create a certain angle so that arrows are aimed at the wall behind the boss or a long open space, allowing the return path to pass through the boss again.

In long corridors, arrows automatically return after their maximum range. After the boss appears and the character enters combat, Shadow Clone ultimate skill must be used to avoid wasting Vulnerable uptime.

For Speedfarming Variant, replace the helmet with another Legendary Helm with a movement speed affix, and replace Amulet and Aspect with movement speed or cooldown reduction types.

Drag Shadow Step skill into the skill bar, even without using El'druin Legendary sword, Shadow Step and Dash alone can improve map clearing efficiency. Speedfarming Variant doesn't need to stack too many Resolve layers, change Masterworking affixes on the chest armor and pants to reduced energy cost or cooldown reduction.

This entire build is completely independent of Mythic Items. Eaglehorn can be obtained from drops in Helltide, Tree of Whispers, or The Pit. You can adjust the affixes of all Sightless Set pieces (which are standard Legendary items) by using enchanting and Masterworking.

If Diablo 4 Crown of Lucion is unavailable, Cowl of the Nameless can be used as a helmet, and Amulet can be replaced with a Legendary amulet with Poison Imbuement skill level and core skill damage.

This Poison Ballista Penetrating Shot Rogue Build demonstrated a viable approach to clearing high levels of The Pit in Diablo 4 and Lord of Hatred without Mythic Items.

The core of this build relies on Eaglehorn's repaired effects, Sightless Set's clone mechanic, and the unlimited stacking of Resolve stacks, forming a solid damage output and a self-consistent energy cycle.
