The highly anticipated Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred will launch globally on April 27th (Pacific Time). This developer livestream update revealed a wealth of revolutionary content. From expansion-exclusive gameplay to the free base update, everything points to a profound overhaul of the game.
Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred not only brings new classes and zones but also changes gear progression and the seasonal experience.
This update for Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred far exceeds most players' expectations, with its quality improvements and system innovations being truly exciting.
Global Launch Date and Pre-load Arrangements
Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred is confirmed to launch on April 27th (Pacific Time), using a globally unified unlock mechanism, with no possibility of early access for any time zone.
The pre-download function was available on the day of the livestream, allowing players to obtain patch files in advance on Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.
Steam does not currently support pre-loading, but there's no need to worry excessively. Pre-loading only saves download time and does not allow early access. Once the season officially launches, players who have downloaded the patch can jump directly into the game without any further waiting.
Expansion Pack
The following explains the new class, War Plans, fishing system, and Horadric Cube content brought by the expansion pack.
New Class
Players who own the expansion pack will immediately unlock two classes: Warlock and Paladin. Although Paladin was featured in the pre-order, it will still be a completely new experience for most players.
A new area, Skovos Isles, is also opened. This area will become the core hub of Endgame event, concentrating all high-difficulty content and greatly optimizing late-game farming efficiency.
War Plans
War Plans introduce a customizable modifier mechanism.
For example, Grigoire's Gambit allows opening chests in Helltides to have a chance to summon Grigoire's knights. Defeating them will directly drop Grigoire's gear, eliminating the need to challenge the boss separately.
Players can also obtain Golden Hoard Chests, converting non-unique, non-Mythical gear into Diablo 4 Gold.
More importantly, War Plans allow for increased monster strength in lair bosses, significantly increasing damage and health, while also improving loot quality. Torment 12 difficulty, originally comparable to Pit 100, will see further increased monster scaling with this feature, satisfying the challenge demands of players pushing higher levels.
Furthermore, regardless of whether they possess a key, players can directly enter any Endgame event; the system will autogenerate a temporary key.
Players accumulate experience by completing various events to level up their War Plans, unlocking more options in the skill tree. Resetting each skill point costs 5 million gold, but provides ample room for build experimentation.
Fishing System
Fishing, an expansion-exclusive, purely cosmetic feature, allows players to collect different types of fish throughout the world. All fish are tradable, facilitating exchanges with other players to complete their collections, and do not provide any combat attribute bonuses.
Horadric Cube
Horadric Cube has been officially added to the expansion pack, completely changing the crafting logic. Players can use Cube to craft any legendary item into its desired form.
The new Transfigure mechanic is similar to a lightweight Sanctification, with a very small chance of triggering double Transfigure. Additionally, players can use Tuning Prisms to add legendary bonuses to amulets without destroying Diablo 4 items upon failure.
Base Game Updates
The following explains the upcoming updates to the base game - skill trees, difficulty, equipment system, and map guidance.
Skill Tree Rework
The skill trees for all classes will undergo a major overhaul. While core skills are retained, the way skills are modified and the selection paths are completely changed. Players who own the expansion pack will have more customization options, while those who haven't purchased it will still enjoy all the basic changes, only with fewer branches; there is no content lockout.
Increased Difficulty
The character level cap has been increased to 70. Characters in Eternal Realms will need to be leveled up again. All gear strengths have been uniformly adjusted to 900. Existing gear in Eternal Realm will need to be acquired again.
A new difficulty level, Torment 12, has been added, with scaling corresponding to Pit 100. Experience gain is doubled from Torment 5 to Torment 12, encouraging players to progress to higher difficulties.
Gear System Optimization
Unique and Mythic gear can now be equipped with the "temper" affix. Using Horadric Cube, players can transform any white common gear into unique gear without defeating the lair boss. Affixes on unique gear will be completely randomized, no longer fixed by the developers. If a fully unique gear is obtained, its cap can be increased to 120% using Cube.
Map Guidance
The new map overlay supports adjustable transparency, on/off switching, color customization, and zooming. The accompanying Pathfinder auto-generates real-time navigation lines after marking targets on the map, allowing players to move accurately without frequently opening the large map.
This update for Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred centers on expansion packs, introducing in-depth systems such as classes, zones, War Plans, and Horadric Cube. The free version also receives key optimizations, including a reworked skill tree, damage refactoring, and increased difficulty.
The streamlined seasonal design allows players to focus on exploring a wealth of new content, while community challenges and ranked ladders provide support for long-term goals. Launching globally on April 27th (Pacific Time), it's a must-have for all Sanctuary Wanderers to return to the battlefield.
