In Diablo 4 Season 14 PTR, Summoner Warlock build has undergone a significant transformation. In the current PTR environment, an Ae'grom-centric build allows demon minions to handle most of the damage output, eliminating the need for continuous manual attacks by Warlock; only a few key skill rotations are required.
Despite S14 PTR suppressing the survivability and damage output of various classes and lengthening the gear completion period, this Diablo 4 Warlock build has defied the trend. Testing shows that even with imperfect gear, it can reliably speed-clear The Pit at level 110.
This article will analyze its core mechanics, operational logic, and optimization directions based on Diablo 4 PTR data. However, S14 PTR environment is still under adjustment, and some values or mechanics may change with the official season. But in the current version, this build's strength significantly exceeds design expectations, making it highly valuable for reference.

Core Drivers
This damage build revolves around three core items. If you plan to try this build in Diablo 4 Season 14, it's recommended to prioritize acquiring the following items:
Ae'grom Schism
Ae'grom Schism is the core Diablo 4 Item of this build, providing three benefits: summoning two Ae'grom instead of one, doubling Ae'grom activation frequency, and doubling the speed of spawning Lesser Demons. After upgrading to Mythic version, the total damage multiplier of Ae'grom reaches 2.95x.
Testing shows that with two Ae'grom and high attack speed, it can launch nearly two attacks per second.
Each Lesser Demon is equivalent to 10% of Ae'grom's damage, with a maximum of 10. Their attack speed is twice that of an Ae'grom, and their overall contribution is roughly equivalent to the output of an additional Ae'grom.
Eye of Baal
Eye of Baal provides a double boost to D4 Soul Shards ability: doubles the ability damage and adds a 50% independent damage multiplier, resulting in over three times the actual damage for a single piece. When stacked with Ae'grom Schism, the overall damage amplification is extremely high.
Horazon's Chains Set
Despite the nerf to Horazon's Chains, it remains a crucial D4 damage amplifier. Each Greater Demon Summon grants Ae'grom a damage boost, providing a significant base multiplier bonus on top of two Ae'grom and three Greater Demons.
However, the true strength of this boost comes from the expanded stacking mechanism.
Units summoned by Tortured Wretch and Sigil of Summons also count towards Greater Demon statistics, allowing damage stacks to accumulate continuously, far exceeding the theoretical base value in practice, easily surpassing three times the overall amplification.
These three pieces together form the damage framework of this build. Ae'grom Schism is responsible for establishing the summoning system, Eye of Baal provides the core multiplier, and Horazon's Chains further amplifies the summoned unit's output.
Survival Architecture
The survivability issues of traditional summoner builds are particularly evident in S14 PTR, but this D4 build effectively solves this problem through Tortured Wretch.
Damage Absorption Mechanism
In S14 PTR, Tortured Wretch absorbs damage based on a percentage of Warlock's maximum health, and this effect is stackable. In testing, Warlock did not need to deliberately dodge attacks from T10 Mephisto and T11 Lilith.
Defense Loop
Similarly, in Season 14 PTR, when Tortured Wretch's duration ends, or it is killed, it grants Warlock Fortification and causes a massive weapon damage explosion, ensuring a defensive resource loop. The damage absorption cap remains active as a new Tortured Wretch spawns.
Damage Reduction Stacking
In Horazon's Chains, equipping a three-piece set grants each Soul Shard demon 8.5% damage reduction, while a five-piece set provides 42.5%. The automatic Dark Prison triggered by Prid Rune ensures a nearly uninterrupted survival rotation.
Operation Rhythm
While this build requires managing multiple skills simultaneously, the actual rotation is not complex. Mastering the following sequence will allow for stable gameplay in most fights.
Recommended Operation Flow
Upon entering The Pit, first cast Sigil of Summons to summon Hellwyrm and ensure Ae'grom is active.
Then, begin the rotation:
- Use Bombardment to maintain five stacks of Hellfire.
- Cast Tortured Wretch to establish a survival system.
- Use Command Fallen to quickly generate demon death counts.
- Immediately after cooldown, use Command Ae'grom to reset the lesser demon.
- Prioritize replenishing Tortured Wretch when a free loop window is triggered.
The core objective of the entire loop is not manual DPS, but to continuously generate demon deaths and summoning events, allowing Ae'grom and Soul Shard demons to become the primary damage source.
Automation Assistance
Prid Rune's automatic Dark Prison reduces manual pressure. Manually cast Sigil of Summons to summon Hellwyrm upon entering a new area, and focus on the four core D4 operations for the rest of the time.
Practical Tips
When facing high-health elites, there's no need to actively engage in close-quarters combat. Maintain a stable number of Ae'grom and Tortured Wretch; most damage will be automatically handled by the summons.
When challenging T10 Mephisto or T11 Lilith, prioritize ensuring Tortured Wretch remains uninterrupted. As long as the damage absorption stacks are sufficient, most mechanics can be withstood directly.
Limitations and Optimizations
In actual high-level The Pit progression, this build still has some structural limitations.
Target Selection Issues
Minions autonomously choose enemies, making it difficult for high-level The Pit to concentrate fire, potentially slowing down progress. This issue has been reported to the development team, but may not be fixed before the official season.
Defense Gap Risk
When Warlock's health drops to injured, Demon Form is forcibly terminated and enters a 12-second cooldown, significantly reducing damage output and survivability. Under extreme pressure, the defense line collapses, and recovery is difficult.
Equipment Advancement Direction
Despite the above issues, based on current Diablo 4 S14 PTR performance, this build still has significant room for improvement. Currently, about 50% of the tested equipment has been optimized, with no sanctification and most lacking high-level affixes. This means the build's final strength has not yet been fully realized.
When optimizing equipment, it is recommended to prioritize obtaining Crown of Lucien, followed by sanctifying core equipment. Then, add high-level summon damage and cooldown reduction affixes to further improve Ae'grom's damage output and skill rotation efficiency.
Current PTR testing shows this Ae'grom-centered D4 Warlock build already demonstrates immense potential, balancing strong damage output with reliable tankiness through core gear synergy and Tortured Wretch survival system.
Once fully optimized, its damage ceiling is expected to far exceed current benchmarks, making consistent The Pit clears at level 125+ highly achievable.
Despite limitations in target selection and defensive gaps, its overall performance far exceeds expectations. If the mechanics are retained in the official season, it is likely to become a mainstream Warlock build.
