Diablo 4's Rogue already covers bow combat, agile movement, and certain ranged damage playstyles; consequently, a traditional Bow Amazon would easily overlap with the existing Rogue class. However, Amazon's identity isn't defined solely by the bow and arrow.

Javelin, Spear, and Lightning-based Amazon builds can still form a distinct class identity. This is particularly relevant given that Diablo 4 currently lacks a class with a gameplay system fully centered on spears, javelins, thrown weapons, and their associated Diablo 4 items.

This actually creates an opening for Amazon. If the developers decide to bring back this classic class, the most logical approach wouldn't be to create another ranged archer; instead, they could emphasize spear charges, javelin throws, spreading lightning attacks, and precise mid-range strikes.

This strategy would preserve Amazon archetype familiar to D2 players while clearly avoiding the gameplay territory already covered by Rogue.

Witch Doctor

Witch Doctor is another highly distinctive class of Diablo 3. Its unique combat style - defined by poisons, pets, summons, and eerie spells - stands out, yet this design feels a bit crowded within the current Diablo 4 landscape.

Necromancer already possess a mature summoning system and command corpses, curses, and a vast array of dark magic, while Spiritborn covers elements like spirits, nature, and tribal culture. Consequently, no matter which direction Witch Doctor takes, it risks overlapping with existing classes.

Therefore, rather than a direct recreation of D3 Witch Doctor, the developers are more likely to deconstruct its defining features - such as poison spells, curses, totems, or unique summoning mechanics - and recombine them into a distinct new class.

Blood Knight

If the developers choose not to look to D2 or D3 for inspiration, a Blood Knight-style class becomes an interesting option.

Blood Knight archetype has already been utilized in Diablo Immortal, and since Diablo 4 already features numerous vampire enemies, blood-based abilities, and dark religious themes, such a design would fit seamlessly into the world of Sanctuary.

More importantly, it is easy to establish a combat style for Blood Knight that differs significantly from the current classes.

Its gameplay could revolve around mechanics like health consumption, life-stealing, sustained regeneration, blood-based skills, and short-term transformations. It could utilize two-handed weapons or polearms, with D4 unique items further enhancing a high-risk, high-recovery melee combat loop. 

While Barbarian emphasizes strength, weaponry, and direct strikes, and Necromancer leans into death, corpses, and summoning, Blood Knight could center its mechanics on a cycle of trading health for damage and then reclaiming that health through combat.

If the developers can craft mechanics that are sufficiently distinct, this class has the potential to stand apart from the existing roster.

Shaman, Dark Knight, and Spellsword

Of course, the new class for Expansion 3 does not necessarily have to come from Diablo's past roster.

Spiritborn has demonstrated the developers' willingness to create entirely new class concepts for Diablo 4, making completely original designs a distinct possibility for the future.

For instance, a Shaman class could be built around totems, elemental spells, and short-duration summons, further distinguishing itself from Druid's shapeshifting and nature magic.

A Dark Knight could wield greatswords and heavy armor, emphasizing blocking, charged attacks, or high-risk melee combat to create a heavy-hitting playstyle that is more stable and rhythm-focused than that of Barbarian.

There is also significant potential for a Spellsword. Currently, Sorcerer relies primarily on pure spellcasting, leaving a gap for a class that truly blends large melee weapons with magic. Enchanted weaponry, elemental slashes, defensive spells, and close-range spellcasting could all serve as core elements of such a class.

More daring directions cannot be ruled out either; after all, Spiritborn proved that Blizzard is willing to push the boundaries of Diablo class design, so Expansion 3 need not look to the past for answers.

As D4 roster grows, it becomes increasingly important for the new class in Expansion 3 to avoid overlapping with existing playstyles.

If they do intend to, I think Diablo IV: What's Next event would be the perfect opportunity to announce Switch 2 news.

With Diablo 4 Season 15 just around the corner, if you're planning to continue playing Rogue, GOD Rogue is one of the most noteworthy endgame builds to watch. This build was already well-established in S14, similar in concept to GoD Demon Hunter build in Diablo 3.

In S15, the newly added Soul Splinters and Leoric's Crown further enhance this build with Crit Chance, Attack Speed, Damage, and damage reduction, raising its potential even higher.

However, the final patch notes haven't been released yet, and some values ​​and combinations from PTR are still subject to adjustment. Its actual performance after release needs further observation.

Why GOD Rogue Works?

In Season 15, GOD Rogue allows players to continuously deal damage while moving. Dance of Knives keeps Rogue spinning forward, and Heartseeker triggers continuously during this process, so you rarely need to stop to deal with enemies while clearing maps.

Once fully developed, this build is more suitable for speed farming and everyday endgame play. Some maps can be pushed down to around 90 seconds per round, and Torment 12 Bosses can be dealt with quickly.

However, it's not the strongest push option for Rogue; it's currently better suited for efficient map clearing, with a Pit cap of approximately 130-145.

But GOD Rogue isn't suitable for immediate progression, as the core rotation relies on the set bonus of 5-Piece Bonus. A more practical approach is to use the regular Dance of Knives Rogue in the early stages of D4, gradually completing the set bonus around Torment 6-9, and then switching to the full GOD Rogue.

With the set bonus active, Marksman Skills gain increased damage, and the most recently used Marksman Basic Skill is additionally triggered when a Marksman Skill is used. Therefore, Dance of Knives can continuously generate Heartseeker during rotations, allowing Heartseeker to bear the main damage output.

Season 14's adjustments to Heartseeker also make this rotation more stable. Previously, automatic triggering required a specific target; now, even without locking onto an enemy, it can automatically fire in all directions, which is why GOD Rogue can continuously fire while spinning.

Gear and Setup

Paingorger's Gauntlets are well-suited for this build. Heartseeker is a Basic Attack, while Dance of Knives isn't a Basic Skill, so Paingorger's Gauntlets' effect is triggered during rotation, improving both map clearing and single-target damage.

Gladiator's Triumph guarantees a Critical Strike on the first direct damage dealt to an enemy, while its Marksman interaction provides another substantial damage multiplier. This D4 item makes opening hits more consistent during map clearing and improves overall damage.

Etna's Lost Dagger is more of a necessity. While a regular Basic Attack doesn't directly grant Imbuement, Etna's Lost Dagger allows Heartseeker to benefit from its effects.

The build already gains Cold Damage through Cold Imbuement, so you only need to add another Non-Physical Damage, such as Lightning, Poison, or Shadow, to meet the damage increase requirements.

The easiest way is to add a second element to Weapon Temper or Charm Mod.

Some Diablo 4 Season 15 items will cause each Heartseeker attack to consume approximately 25 Resources.

Lucky Hit Chance ring can largely solve this problem, as this build has a relatively high Lucky Hit Chance, ensuring continuous resource regeneration as long as there are enemies nearby.

Inner Sight typically triggers every 4-5 seconds, providing approximately 4 seconds of Infinite Resource after refilling resources.

In most cases, one Restore Resource Temper is sufficient; a second one is only needed when resources are frequently depleted during combat.

Season 15's Leoric's Crown can further enhance this setup. Since the helm counts as Jewelry, it can effectively provide another slot for Soul Splinters while also increasing the effect of the socketed gem.

On PTR, usable Soul Splinters include Anguish, Hellfire, and Pain, which supplement Crit Chance, Attack Speed, Damage, and Damage Reduction. This combination offers high stats, but adjustments are possible before its release on the live D4 servers.

Scoundrel's Kiss makes Ferocity a major damage multiplier for GOD Rogue, increasing Marksman Skill damage for each stack. With Ferocious Aspect, Ferocity cap can be increased from 4 stacks to approximately 16 stacks. Mythic also grants nearly 20% Damage per stack, resulting in significant benefits when fully stacked.

The corresponding Ferocity Aspect is best placed on a Two-Handed Weapon, and a high roll is preferable.

Other Diablo 4 Offensive Aspects can utilize High Velocity, Moonrise, and Biting Cold; for defense, Might and Debilitating Toxins are good choices, with the latter providing approximately 30% Damage Reduction.

Stat Priority And Skills

The attribute priority for this build can be in the following order: Crit Chance > Crit Damage / Vulnerable Damage > Survivability
