Does Diablo 4 Season 15 Still Hold Major Surprises? Leaked Kingsport and Duncraig Maps Spark BlizzCon Speculation

Diablo 4 Season 15 launches on September 15, while Blizzard is still holding content back for BlizzCon. Could the leaked Kingsport and Duncraig map reveal what S15 has yet to show?

Sep 07, 2026 Author: EZG

Diablo 4 Season 15 is set to launch on September 15, but Patch 3.2.0 PTR clearly did not showcase everything the season has to offer.

Blizzard has explicitly stated that some S15 content is being held back for BlizzCon reveal. As the event approaches, a screenshot - purportedly showing a new map - has begun circulating, revealing the locations of Kingsport and Duncraig in the western region of Sanctuary.

This raises a major question: Is Season 15 content Blizzard is saving for BlizzCon related to these western map areas?

Does Diablo 4 Season 15 Still Hold Major Surprises? Leaked Kingsport and Duncraig Maps Spark BlizzCon Speculation

Content Held Back from PTR

What is certain is that Season 15 will arrive alongside 3.2.0 update, bringing with it a suite of systems and Diablo 4 items already tested on  PTR, such as Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeons, and Overland Ambush events.

Challenge Dungeons deserve particular attention. Blizzard has clarified that the encounters featured in PTR were primarily designed to test underlying systems, and the official S15 release will feature different content.

Even players who fully experienced 3.2.0 PTR have not yet seen the complete scope of Season 15.

A more direct indication comes from Blizzard's own explanation regarding PTR. The team explicitly stated that they did not want all upcoming Season 15 content to be revealed before they had the chance to present it at BlizzCon.

Consequently, BlizzCon's role regarding S15 likely goes beyond standard seasonal promotion. Diablo 4 still holds back unrevealed content, and the scale of this hidden material has become the subject of intense speculation.

New Map Leak

Amidst this anticipation, a screenshot - purportedly of D4 world map - has begun circulating within the player community.

The currently accessible areas of Diablo 4 cover only a portion of Sanctuary world map, leaving vast, unexplored spaces to the west.

The leaked image reveals Kingsport and Duncraig situated west of the existing zones, surrounded by a large, as-yet-unopened continent. Based on the map in the leak, this western region lies in the same general direction as classic locations like Westmarch, Lut Gholein, and Tristram; iconic sites such as Mount Arreat could also potentially appear within this western territory in the future.

Currently, there is no evidence proving the screenshot originated from within Blizzard, nor is there confirmation that Kingsport and Duncraig will open immediately in Season 15.

However, what makes this leak particularly noteworthy is its timing: it coincides with Blizzard's official statement that there is still Season 15 content being held back for BlizzCon.

Kingsport in S15?

This naturally leads to a primary speculation: Could Kingsport and Duncraig be among the content Blizzard withheld from PTR?

The timing certainly makes a connection plausible. PTR only tests specific mechanics; Blizzard explicitly noted that Season 15 still holds content reserved for BlizzCon; and the screenshot of the new map surfaced just before the convention.

If BlizzCon ultimately reveals Kingsport or Duncraig, a direct link would be established between this map leak, the content omitted from PTR, and S15 launch scheduled for two days later.

However, a degree of caution is still warranted.

Blizzard has never announced that Kingsport or Duncraig are part of Season 15, nor have they confirmed the addition of large, permanent map zones for the season.

Given the scale of past D4 content, an entirely new region of Sanctuary is more reminiscent of a major expansion - or perhaps part of a long-term update roadmap.

Therefore, the most reasonable approach for now is to wait and see if these two locations officially appear at BlizzCon, and then determine whether they relate to S15, the next phase of the storyline, or a future expansion.

Western Expansion

Even if the leaked map proves authentic, it should not necessarily be interpreted as Blizzard opening up the entire western continent all at once.

New expansions or major updates typically introduce one region at a time, gradually expanding the map through subsequent content releases.

This approach is also better suited to the long-term live-service model of Diablo 4. Kingsport and Duncraig could serve as the initial entry points into the western region, while locations such as Westmarch, Lut Gholein, Tristram, and Mount Arreat could be reserved for future storylines or expansions.

Therefore, the true significance of this leak extends beyond just one or two cities. If Kingsport does indeed make it into D4, it suggests that the game's map of Sanctuary may be poised to expand further westward, while also leaving room for numerous classic locations to return to the main narrative.

BlizzCon Reveal

Blizzard has confirmed that BlizzCon 2026 will take place in Anaheim on September 12 and 13, with Season 15 officially launching on September 15. This makes BlizzCon essentially the final major official announcement window before the new season goes live.

For Diablo 4 players, the most pressing question is clear: what content does S15 hold that wasn't revealed during PTR?

Systems, D4 items, and features like Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeons, and Rebirth are already known; the real suspense lies in what Blizzard has deliberately kept under wraps.

If Kingsport or Duncraig appear in official BlizzCon footage, the credibility of the recently leaked map screenshots will skyrocket, and Season 15 could even serve as a bridge to the next major story arc or expansion.

Of course, until Blizzard makes an official announcement, Kingsport, Duncraig, and the western continent remain speculative details based on leaks.

What to Watch?

New maps, Kingsport, Duncraig, and whatever else Blizzard is hiding regarding Season 15. If these names appear in official BlizzCon footage, the credibility of the leaked map will be significantly bolstered.

It remains to be seen whether S15 will be a standard season or if its new D4 items and content will subtly lay the groundwork for future storylines, classes, or even the next expansion.

The most certain fact right now is simple: PTR didn't reveal everything about D4 S15, Blizzard saved the remaining content for BlizzCon, and the new season launches just two days later.

So, it all comes down to one thing: are Kingsport and Duncraig merely a splashy pre-BlizzCon leak, or are they the real ace up the sleeve for Season 15?
