Taking place on Main Stage on September 13 at 11:00 a.m. PT, this session will offer a preview of upcoming content, features, and the roadmap for future updates.

Unlike Developer Update from the previous day - which focuses more on the series' philosophy and development process - What's Next deals directly with Diablo 4 content players care about most. It will likely cover Season 15, gameplay updates, and long-term content planning.

Blizzard has not confirmed that a new expansion will be announced during this session, so online predictions remain purely speculative. Blizzard might instead focus on content following Season 15 or offer an early look at the long-term direction of Diablo 4.

Twitch Drops

BlizzCon 2026 Twitch Drops are easy to earn. The event runs from September 12 at 10:00 a.m. PT to September 15 at 9:59 a.m. PT. During this period, simply watch eligible streams in D4 category on Twitch to accumulate watch time and earn corresponding Diablo 4 items.

The rewards are structured across three tiers. Accumulate 2 hours of watch time to earn Serrated Skean Dagger; reach 4 hours to get Corroded Cleaver Axe; and hit 6 hours to unlock Tintinnabulation Two-Handed Mace.

You can participate in Twitch Drops and track your progress even if you do not own the base Diablo 4 game or Lord of Hatred expansion. Regarding devices, you can earn and claim drops using PC or Mac browsers, as well as Twitch app on Android or iOS. However, Twitch apps on game consoles, smart TVs, and other TV-based platforms do not support Drops. 

Twitch Drops viewing progress is flexible; you don't need to watch a single channel from start to finish. As long as you watch eligible streams within Diablo 4 category on Twitch, your viewing time accumulates, and switching channels won't cause you to lose your progress.

However, there is a crucial limitation: opening multiple channels simultaneously does not accelerate your viewing time. Additionally, leaving a Diablo 4 stream running in the background or keeping the browser tab inactive means the time won't count toward the requirement.

Twitch Drops are not granted automatically. Once you meet the viewing time requirement, you must manually claim the reward - either on the channel you are watching or in your Twitch Drops Inventory. Remember to click Claim once the reward is ready.

How should You Choose Your First Mythic?

For the vast majority of builds, start by identifying the most important Diablo 4 Unique items in your current setup and comparing their Unique Powers, trigger frequencies, and impact on core damage output. Once you have identified your highest-priority target, farm a version with better stats, complete Tempering and Masterworking, and finally perform Mythic Upgrade.

After completing the first item, you can leverage this power spike to tackle higher-difficulty content. Faster mob clearing and progression speeds will improve the efficiency of acquiring subsequent gear and resources.

If you later obtain a stronger Mythic for the same slot, you no longer need to reserve your upgrade opportunity for that item; instead, you can shift your focus to the next high-value Unique in your build.

In this way, the priority for Mythic Upgrades shifts dynamically alongside your gear. Prioritize upgrading the item that offers the greatest benefit at your current stage, and only consider the next item once the current one has been replaced by a superior option.

Don't Rush to Use Your First Batch of Sparks

Although it is possible to acquire Sparks early in D4 S15, there is no need to perform a Mythic Upgrade immediately upon obtaining the resource.

If you haven't yet farmed your core Unique, or if the current version's key affixes and enhancement results are mediocre, it is better to continue progressing and farming gear. Since the upgrade preserves the item's current state, investing Sparks too early into a Unique that will soon be replaced yields little return.

The ideal time to upgrade is after you have locked in your build's core gear and possess a version of high enough quality to use reliably for an extended period. This ensures that your first Mythic Upgrade translates effectively into actual combat power.

How Should You Adjust if You Find Another Mythic Later?

The first Mythic you upgrade in D4 S15, doesn't have to occupy that slot forever.

If you subsequently find or craft a stronger Mythic that can replace your current piece, you can re-evaluate the remaining Uniques in your build and shift your upgrade target to the next most beneficial slot.

For example, you might initially prioritize upgrading Unique with the highest damage multiplier; once that slot is replaced by a stronger Mythic obtained through drops or crafting, you can then look at the item with the second-highest multiplier or the one that most significantly affects your build's rotation.

Therefore, the priority list for Mythic Upgrades is not static; it develops as your gear improves. Upgrade the item offering the highest current benefit first, and address the next item only after securing a replacement.

Why does This Change Mid-Game Progression?

In the past, Mythics were rarely included in mid-game builds because consistently obtaining specific items was difficult during that phase. 

With the introduction of targeted Mythic Upgrades in Diablo 4 S15, players can upgrade core Unique items into Mythics much earlier. This facilitates an earlier transition into a mid-game setup, providing a reliable boost to combat effectiveness during that phase.

For your first Mythic upgrade in D4 Season 15, prioritize a Unique item that offers a Unique with a high-value Unique Power multiplier, contributes consistently to core damage output, and has a solid base. Death Trap Rogue build in Diablo 4 Season 15 continues Grenade Trap gameplay from the previous season, with no major changes to its core skills and equipment system.

Mechanics

Even players who fully experienced 3.2.0 PTR have not yet seen the complete scope of Season 15.

A more direct indication comes from Blizzard's own explanation regarding PTR. The team explicitly stated that they did not want all upcoming Season 15 content to be revealed before they had the chance to present it at BlizzCon.

Blizzard has confirmed that BlizzCon 2026 will take place in Anaheim on September 12 and 13, with Season 15 officially launching on September 15. This makes BlizzCon essentially the final major official announcement window before the new season goes live.

For Diablo 4 players, the most pressing question is clear: what content does S15 hold that wasn't revealed during PTR?

Systems, D4 items, and features like Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeons, and Rebirth are already known; the real suspense lies in what Blizzard has deliberately kept under wraps.

If Kingsport or Duncraig appear in official BlizzCon footage, the credibility of the recently leaked map screenshots will skyrocket, and Season 15 could even serve as a bridge to the next major story arc or expansion.

Of course, until Blizzard makes an official announcement, Kingsport, Duncraig, and the western continent remain speculative details based on leaks.

What to Watch?

New maps, Kingsport, Duncraig, and whatever else Blizzard is hiding regarding Season 15. If these names appear in official BlizzCon footage, the credibility of the leaked map will be significantly bolstered.

It remains to be seen whether S15 will be a standard season or if its new D4 items and content will subtly lay the groundwork for future storylines, classes, or even the next expansion.

The most certain fact right now is simple: PTR didn't reveal everything about D4 S15, Blizzard saved the remaining content for BlizzCon, and the new season launches just two days later. 

So, it all comes down to one thing: are Kingsport and Duncraig merely a splashy pre-BlizzCon leak, or are they the real ace up the sleeve for Season 15?

While the official announcement for Diablo 4's third expansion is likely still some time away, players are already speculating about what the next new class might be.

For Diablo series, new classes have always been a major draw for expansions. From Crusader and Necromancer to the classes added post-launch in Diablo 4, every new addition impacts build choices, gear requirements, and the overall game meta.

If Blizzard chooses to preview Expansion 3 at a future BlizzCon, the new class will undoubtedly be a highlight.

However, since Blizzard hasn't confirmed which class will be included in the third expansion, the best approach right now is to analyze Diablo 4's current roster, classic series classes, and unexplored gameplay styles to determine the most likely candidates.

Monk

Monks are one of the classic classes players frequently ask to see return.

In Diablo 3, Monk featured high-speed movement, close-quarters combos, and a distinct martial arts style. Its overall pacing differed significantly from traditional heavy melee classes like Barbarian, making it instantly recognizable.

In reality, however, Monk's potential return depends on Spiritborn. Spiritborn already features high-mobility melee combat, rapid repositioning, and numerous skills centered on spirit energy - gameplay elements that closely resemble Monk's style.

Furthermore, Spiritborn's tribal and spirit-based themes overlap with design elements previously associated with both Monk and Witch Doctor.

If Blizzard were to simply port D3 Monk directly into the game, the two classes would likely suffer from overlapping roles.

That said, Monk could still return if it undergoes a significant overhaul. This might involve emphasizing fist weapons, rapid-fire strikes, and defensive counters, while establishing a new resource loop based on D4 items - effectively refocusing the class on its core martial arts identity.

Amazon

Amazon faces fewer hurdles than Monk.

Diablo 4's Rogue already covers bow combat, agile movement, and certain ranged damage playstyles; consequently, a traditional Bow Amazon would easily overlap with the existing Rogue class. However, Amazon's identity isn't defined solely by the bow and arrow.

Javelin, Spear, and Lightning-based Amazon builds can still form a distinct class identity. This is particularly relevant given that Diablo 4 currently lacks a class with a gameplay system fully centered on spears, javelins, thrown weapons, and their associated Diablo 4 items.

This actually creates an opening for Amazon. If the developers decide to bring back this classic class, the most logical approach wouldn't be to create another ranged archer; instead, they could emphasize spear charges, javelin throws, spreading lightning attacks, and precise mid-range strikes.

This strategy would preserve Amazon archetype familiar to D2 players while clearly avoiding the gameplay territory already covered by Rogue.

Witch Doctor

Witch Doctor is another highly distinctive class of Diablo 3. Its unique combat style - defined by poisons, pets, summons, and eerie spells - stands out, yet this design feels a bit crowded within the current Diablo 4 landscape.

Necromancer already possess a mature summoning system and command corpses, curses, and a vast array of dark magic, while Spiritborn covers elements like spirits, nature, and tribal culture. Consequently, no matter which direction Witch Doctor takes, it risks overlapping with existing classes.

Therefore, rather than a direct recreation of D3 Witch Doctor, the developers are more likely to deconstruct its defining features - such as poison spells, curses, totems, or unique summoning mechanics - and recombine them into a distinct new class.

Blood Knight

If the developers choose not to look to D2 or D3 for inspiration, a Blood Knight-style class becomes an interesting option.

Blood Knight archetype has already been utilized in Diablo Immortal, and since Diablo 4 already features numerous vampire enemies, blood-based abilities, and dark religious themes, such a design would fit seamlessly into the world of Sanctuary.

More importantly, it is easy to establish a combat style for Blood Knight that differs significantly from the current classes.

Its gameplay could revolve around mechanics like health consumption, life-stealing, sustained regeneration, blood-based skills, and short-term transformations. It could utilize two-handed weapons or polearms, with D4 unique items further enhancing a high-risk, high-recovery melee combat loop. 

While Barbarian emphasizes strength, weaponry, and direct strikes, and Necromancer leans into death, corpses, and summoning, Blood Knight could center its mechanics on a cycle of trading health for damage and then reclaiming that health through combat.

If the developers can craft mechanics that are sufficiently distinct, this class has the potential to stand apart from the existing roster.

Shaman, Dark Knight, and Spellsword

Of course, the new class for Expansion 3 does not necessarily have to come from Diablo's past roster.

Spiritborn has demonstrated the developers' willingness to create entirely new class concepts for Diablo 4, making completely original designs a distinct possibility for the future.

For instance, a Shaman class could be built around totems, elemental spells, and short-duration summons, further distinguishing itself from Druid's shapeshifting and nature magic.

A Dark Knight could wield greatswords and heavy armor, emphasizing blocking, charged attacks, or high-risk melee combat to create a heavy-hitting playstyle that is more stable and rhythm-focused than that of Barbarian.

There is also significant potential for a Spellsword. Currently, Sorcerer relies primarily on pure spellcasting, leaving a gap for a class that truly blends large melee weapons with magic. Enchanted weaponry, elemental slashes, defensive spells, and close-range spellcasting could all serve as core elements of such a class.

More daring directions cannot be ruled out either; after all, Spiritborn proved that Blizzard is willing to push the boundaries of Diablo class design, so Expansion 3 need not look to the past for answers.

As D4 roster grows, it becomes increasingly important for the new class in Expansion 3 to avoid overlapping with existing playstyles.

Whether the choice falls on a classic class like Amazon or a new concept like Blood Knight or Shaman, the key lies in delivering a combat experience that is genuinely missing from the current lineup. Only with a sufficiently distinct identity can the new class truly serve as a core selling point for the expansion.
