To rebalance server population, Dune: Awakening will undergo a server migration on May 26th. Some less populated servers will be shut down. With the upcoming release of The Water Wars DLC and Update 1.4, now may be the best time to merge servers.
If your character is on an affected server, you will need to transfer your character, and no Transfer Token is required. You don't have to wait until May 26th to move; the list of servers closing has been published and these servers will be marked in Dune: Awakening, so you can start now.
If your character's world is about to close, the best way to prepare is to transfer as early as possible and secure a place in a new world and Sietch. You can transfer immediately using the existing migration feature.
Migration Feature
If your Dune: Awakening character is in a world that will not close, you don't need to do anything and can play as usual. The second scenario is that your character is in a world that is about to close. Characters in affected worlds will need to go through a character transfer process. In the server browser, you can select the world you want to migrate to.
Use Base Reconstruction Tool to redeploy your base in the new world, and all vehicles will be backed up to Vehicle Backup Tool. If you don't have Base Reconstruction Tool and Vehicle Backup Tool, don't worry, you'll get one through Rewards menu.
To claim them, press Esc key or Start button on your controller to open Rewards menu and claim your Base Reconstruction Tool and Vehicle Backup Tool.
If you want to transfer your character to a Private Server or Self-hosted Servers, the process is basically the same as the second case, but please remember that this is a one-way transfer; you cannot transfer the character back to the official Dune: Awakening servers. Currently, if you choose to transfer your character to a self-hosted or private server, it will be permanent.
Dismantling Vehicles
First, you need to dispose of your vehicles. If you don't dispose of the cars in your Dune: Awakening garage, they will disappear when you transfer your base. Therefore, you need a Vehicle Backup Tool, which has a new automatic transfer function.
This feature allows you to retrieve all transferred vehicles. Dismantle your vehicles and store them in your base's warehouse. This ensures they are transferred with your character and base during the character transfer process.
Items like Sand bikes, Scouts, and Ornithopters can be placed in the backup tool. However, items like buggies, which are too large to fit in the backup tool, must be dismantled and placed in the warehouse, as everything in the warehouse will be backed up and transferred.
When you transfer your vehicles using the backup tool, any fuel they contain may be lost upon arrival on the new Dune: Awakening server, so it's wise to keep a supply of spare fuel cells ready. Once all your vehicles are stored in the recycling tool or dismantled and placed in the base warehouse, you can begin packing up your base.
Transferring Base
First, you need to create your own Base Reconstruction Tool. You also need to modify your base to make it easier to rebuild in other locations, giving you greater flexibility. Then, use Base Reconstruction Tool to save your base to your character.
When transferring your character, you will only retain your inventory and Dune Awakening Solari and items stored in Bank. Your character and trade list will be deleted, and you will lose access to all vehicles and sub-fiefs in your original world. After the character transfer, your progress towards the next territory reward will be lost. After a period of time, all remaining resources, sub-fiefs, and sub-fiefs will be abandoned.
Once everything is packed up, you need to exit the game and return to the server selection menu, where you should be able to choose a new world. I strongly recommend that you do some research on the world you are interested in. First, you should research the player community in that world beforehand. Second, you need to scout out Sietch of that world to see if that location is already occupied.
After selecting a world, you need to choose a Sietch. After selecting a Sietch, you will spawn in the southern Hagga Basin, and then you need to find your base location on the map and look around. Note that once you have selected a world, you can transfer to different Sietches.
After the release of Update 1.3.20, Transferring from closed worlds will not consume Transfer Tokens. Moving between different Sietches will also not consume Transfer Tokens. You can travel to your target location and check out multiple Sietches before deciding on your final settlement. If your Dune: Awakening base is designed to only be in a specific location, you can use Snap to Origin tool to automatically relocate it to its original location. If the original location is already occupied by Sietch, you can try other locations.
After clicking Confirm Placement, your base will be established in the new game world. This operation is irreversible, but the rules have changed. Previously, you couldn't move your base for 7 days after placing it. However, the official Dune: Awakening team has released a patch that allows you to change your base location until the 26th, until you find a satisfactory spot.
The Water Wars DLC and Update 1.4 for Dune: Awakening are coming soon. If you want to gain an early advantage in the new world, act fast! Don't wait until the last minute to migrate, as the best base locations, resources, and Sitch communities on popular servers will soon be snapped up. Make sure your base and vehicles are packed up before migrating to find the ideal location.
