Dune: Awakening Update 1.4: Best New Weapons, Armor & Mods - Meta Guide and Review

Dune: Awakening Update 1.4 launches May 19, introducing new melee and ranged weapons, armor, and augmentations that shift the meta toward accuracy and specialized builds.

Dune: Awakening Update 1.4 will launch on May 19th, bringing us brand new mainstream weapons, armor, and enhancement mods.

We'll be testing each of them, quickly summarizing all the new melee and ranged gear, and focusing on evaluating those likely to become mainstream builds.Dune: Awakening Update 1.4: Best New Weapons, Armor & Mods - Meta Guide and Review

If you want to get a head start in Dune: Awakening Update 1.4, this guide can be a great help.

Melee Weapons

Burning Blade deals damage similar to weapons like Replica Pulse Knife. It ignites enemies with multiple hits, causing continuous damage, though the damage isn't very significant. Leech's Maw drains the target's energy, and its damage is lower than Burning Blade.

However, Leech's Maw's energy drain can break enemy shields, but it still requires approximately 25 to 26 hits to completely deplete the enemy's energy and break their shield. This weapon might be useful against some heavy enemies.

Serpent's Fang is a unique weapon that inflicts poison damage. Its damage is similar to Replica Pulse Knife, and it does apply a poison effect, but your target will die before the poison takes effect. Therefore, this weapon doesn't seem very useful in Dune: Awakening at the moment.

Prescient Edge applies a bleed effect when you parry, but its bleed damage is insufficient in both PvE and PvP, even less than Hawk's Pick, so you'd better not use this weapon.

Melee weapons in Dune: Awakening Update 1.4 aren't very appealing, so let's see if ranged weapons can surprise us.

Ranged Weapons

Spitting Cobra

Spitting Cobra is similar to Suda Kar's Intimidator and Dark for Every Man. The difference is that, besides breaking shields, it also applies a poison effect and deals damage over time. However, its overall damage is lower than Suda Kar's Intimidator and Dark for Every Man, and its damage to shields is also low, only about two-thirds of the other two weapons. Therefore, I don't think this weapon is worth continuing to use.

Angry Adder

Angry Adder, this new weapon, may become the main weapon for many dunes: Awakening players. It's a weapon similar to Karpov 38, a fully automatic assault rifle.

Its damage is slightly lower than Regis Tripleshot Repeating Rifle, which has approximately 7,780 DPS, while Angry Adder has approximately 7,720 DPS. However, compared to Regis Tripleshot Repeating Rifle, Angry Adder has lower recoil and is easier to use.

Its damage is about 30% higher than weapons like Indara's Lullaby and Salusan Vengeance, and its DPS is also higher. Although Salusan Vengeance has higher theoretical damage, Angry Adder's mechanics allow you to deal even more damage. If you can improve your accuracy with the less recoil-prone Angry Adder in Dune: Awakening combat, it performs exceptionally well and is worth investing in Dune Awakening Solaris.

Hell-Fury Pistol

Next is Hell-Fury Pistol. This weapon has high damage, even slightly higher than Triple Shot. Hell-Fury Pistol has a rate of fire of 784, 4 higher than Regis Triple Shot. Their performance is basically the same, but their firing methods are completely different.

Hell-Fury Pistol has six rounds, firing one at a time, and has much less recoil, so you can re-aim on targets much faster than with Regis Triple Shot. Therefore, this is the second weapon I think will be very popular in Dune: Awakening Update 1.4.

Blind Fury

Blind Fury will be one of the most interesting weapons in Dune: Awakening Update 1.4. Blind Fury is essentially a sniper rifle that sacrifices a scope for a slightly faster reload speed, a slightly faster rate of fire, and a 5-round magazine.

Similar to Regis Tripleshot Repeating Rifle, Blind Fury offers greater aiming accuracy because of its lower recoil, meaning you can re-aim faster. Blind Fury deals 576 damage per second, including reload time and all other factors. Therefore, its damage is approximately 25% to 26% lower than Regis Tripleshot.

However, because of its significantly lower recoil, you can actually build a headshot-focused playstyle. It has the potential for long-range headshots.

Angry Adder, Hell-Fury Pistol, and Blind Fury are all good choices. Blind Fury has a slightly different playstyle, better suited for headshots, while Hell-Fury Pistol can easily hit regular targets. If you prefer an assault rifle style, Angry Adder is more practical.

Chestpiece

Phantom Whisper Chest reduces your detection speed; with five pieces of armor, this reduction reaches 25%. This attribute bonus is very useful in actual combat, and I like the idea and its design direction.

Combat Exoskeleton Chest is also a cool idea, providing a +10% melee damage bonus. However, it's heavy, and in most PvE combat, your biggest problem will be insufficient stamina. Therefore, you'll need to pair it with Regis Triple Shot, as it restores stamina on every hit. It can be extremely useful in Dune: Awakening boss fight.

Augmentations

Blade Blood Grooves reduce weight and stamina consumption, but also slightly reduce damage. I think almost no one will use it, making its inclusion in Dune: Awakening somewhat redundant. Heavy Metal Blade Coating increases damage and weapon size, making it one of your top choices.

Pyrocket Decimator significantly increases shield damage, which is interesting, but it reduces magazine capacity and accuracy. Pyrocket's magazine capacity is already pitifully small. Therefore, I find it hard to imagine it being widely used.

Scattergun Rampage-Enhancement is a shotgun-specific enhancement, increasing damage and magazine capacity by up to 70%, but reducing critical hit damage. However, shotguns rarely deal critical hits, so this is essentially irrelevant.

This will likely be the most popular shotgun enhancement in the future because it increases both damage and magazine capacity, similar to other Dune: Awakening damage-boosting attachments.

Disruptor M11 Personnel-Buster increases headshot damage and rate of fire, which is interesting. However, I don't think it will be widely used by Dune: Awakening players, as enhancements are primarily used for states other than increasing damage.

Drill shot FK7 Spray-and-Pray increases reload speed and rate of fire, but at the cost of reduced range, recoil, and magazine capacity. You can use it to increase your reload speed.

Overall, the true value of Dune: Awakening Update 1.4 lies not in simply adding a few more powerful pieces of equipment, but in its conscious effort to create more engaging combat and distinctly different playstyles and gear options. Future high-difficulty battles and PvP combat will place greater emphasis on players' accuracy, rhythm control, and specialized builds, requiring proactive thinking about equipment and the combat environment.
