More importantly, Ratings Database includes both male and female players; all players are eligible to vote, with no fixed candidate list.

How to participate in voting? What makes the winning players special? Why should players participate in this event? The following will explain in detail.

Ratings Database

The biggest innovation of FC 27's Ratings Database is that it is entirely based on real match data, professional player ability assessments, and consideration of multiple factors (including injury status), allowing for a more realistic reflection of real-world player condition and ability.

The player pool covers over 800 clubs and national teams, more than 30 leagues, and a total of over 21,000 players, so you won't have trouble finding your favorite player when participating in Destined for Glory vote.

How to Vote?

EA has not placed any edition-based restrictions on the voting process, so players who own either Standard Edition or Ultimate Edition can take part.

From August 21 to September 10, visit EA SPORTS FC 27 Ratings Database, select the player you believe will have an outstanding season, and click Vote button next to their name to submit your choice.

It's worth noting that EA hasn't explicitly stated a limit on the number of votes, meaning you can vote for any number of players you believe deserve it.

If you don't have a specific goal, here's a relatively objective evaluation criterion:

• Young stars with high development potential;
• Players who have recently transferred and could have an immediate impact;

Unlike regular FUT player cards whose ratings and attributes are fixed upon release, the special feature of FC 27 Live Player Items is that their ability values are not permanently locked but are adjusted in real-time based on their performance in the real world.

For example, if a player's performance in real-world matches meets the conditions set by EA, their Destined for Glory cards may be upgraded; conversely, if their performance does not meet the current OVR or they suffer an injury, their attributes and overall rating will be downgraded.

However, if their performance declines or they become injured, the most obvious impact is a severe devaluation in the market. Therefore, players who like to invest in FC series will face higher risks.

3. Community Voting Becomes More Important

Destined for Glory is unique in that players first influence which players enter the campaign through voting. While similar community voting has been used by EA before, such as influencing TOTY or TOTS lineups for certain leagues, this is not always the case.

However, these are all significantly different from Destined for Glory. The most obvious difference is that it doesn't present you with a shortlist of dozens of players to choose from; instead, it uses an entire database. This offers greater freedom and choice.

Hidden Flaws

However, in my opinion, this voting system also has a hidden pitfall.

Why?

What if there's too much overlap in player votes? Considering recent matches, the same few star players and those consistently featured in official media campaigns are consistently being voted for. This undoubtedly tells players that FC 27 values these players highly.

This can easily influence player choices, especially those who blindly follow trends and lack their own opinions.

Another major reason is that players lack sufficient confidence in emerging young players.

While Live Player Items sound appealing, for players, an investment of at least hundreds of thousands or even millions of FC 27 Coins is required. Players without concrete data or experience to back them up for future performance cannot fully gain the trust of most players.

Therefore, if the final votes still favor players they consider being the meta, resulting in homogenized community choices, what is the point of the database used for this vote?

Finally, returning to EA's public statement regarding FIFA 27 Destined for Glory, the official announcement did not promise that all players with the most votes would be included in Squad. Therefore, we can speculate that the final Squad lineup is determined by a combination of community voting and EA's own selection process.

Regarding the hidden flaws I mentioned, EA could easily include some popular players with high community votes in the final Squad, while also using its own selection mechanism to include young players, new signings, or promising talents.

For Destined for Glory, to avoid pseudo-democracy, not only EA but also many other areas need adjustment and attention. Players also need to be wary of being swayed by general trends and media hype, and simply vote based on their own preferences.
