Path of Exile 3.29 Atlas Progression Guide: Best Voidstone Order, Atlas Tree and Early Currency Farming

PoE 3.29 completely changes the way players approach Atlas progression. Instead of rushing through maps with empty pockets, smart Exiles can now secure Voidstones, sustain high-tier maps, and build massive currency reserves along the way.

Jul 27, 2026 Author: EZG

PoE Curse of the Allflame has been released, and the map progression system has undergone significant changes. Now you can earn substantial amounts of currency while progressing through the map, instead of rushing through and gaining almost nothing as before.

This article explains how to quickly progress through the map and acquire resources in Path of Exile 3.29. Let's get started.

Path of Exile 3.29 Atlas Progression Guide: Best Voidstone Order, Atlas Tree and Early Currency Farming

Voidstone Acquisition

Obtaining your first Voidstone is crucial, and the order in which you acquire it is also important. You should prioritize acquiring The Eater of Worlds void stone, as it grants an additional 25% bonus to altars (both positive and negative effects), resulting in more Embers and Chaos Orbs.

Therefore, players need to complete The Eater quest line first, then complete The Searing Exarch (quest) to obtain The Searing Exarch. Next, you can acquire Uber Elder and The Maven. You don't need to rush to acquire all four Voidstones; prioritize the first two, The Maven Voidstone can be acquired later when your character is stronger.

Using Kirac and Map Vendor

In PoE 3.29, maps can be acquired from Kirac's vendor simply by spending currency, which is extremely advantageous in the early game. You can directly acquire missing maps and even skip certain levels.

However, be careful not to get too many times, as Path of Exile Currency is also important for Kingsmarch and gambling at the vendor, and gambling is currently the primary way to acquire gear. Gambling with currency can give you very good gear early on.

The three-for-one map crafting recipe is also crucial. Putting in three level 15 maps will create a level 16 map, provided they are not corrupted and are of the same level.

This recipe works for all levels. This allows you to skip certain levels and more easily maintain your red maps. These two methods allow you to level up your maps at an astonishing rate.

Choose Right Mechanism

During your Atlas progression, you should aim to clear each map as quickly as possible. Kill monsters along the way and complete altar quests. Remember, your goal is to complete all atlases as quickly as possible to begin your true farming strategy.

Therefore, a large portion of the farming content can be skipped entirely, with the exception of those extremely short but rewarding mechanics: Essences, Loot Chests, Treasure Chests, and Mercenary Encounters. These mechanics may drop Chaos Orbs or even Divine Gear early on.

Atlas Passive Tree Progression

First, immediately allocate points to Shaping the Mountains and Shaping the Skies. These two talents increase your chance of obtaining maps one level higher than your current level, crucial for quickly farming level 14 maps. Then allocate points to Shaping the World. These three talent points are essential.

Next, allocate points to Shrine. Shrines are very powerful in the early game of Path of Exile 3.29 because they provide numerous temporary buffs. You can also allocate additional Shrine talent points for extra buffs and durations. A two-minute shrine buff is enough to cover the entire map time of a boss speedrun, making it a huge power boost.

After that, head to Loaded Circuits and complete the map wheel allocation. This is the foundation of your core sustain. There's no other option here, and everyone should do this early on.

At this point, it depends on whether you're ready to use altars. If you are, quickly go to Exarch nodes and max out all the talents. Basically, Minion altars are safe for any build; their only negative effect is negligible.

If you're not ready to use altars yet, then prioritize the talents that increase shrine spawn chance. This guarantees two shrines per map, meaning two stronger player buffs. This will make you incredibly powerful and help you push red difficulty.

Notes

Once you have your core talents, you can fill in the rest. Start with the smaller nodes that increase spawn rate by 1%, as they are usually quite strong. Then, allocate points to the map effect nodes in the upper half of the talent tree to increase mob size, which is extremely useful in red shrines because you can kill more mobs.

Jun, while useful for early gear and experience, is no longer essential. If you want to invest in Jun talent tree, you can select it on the yellow map and then select other talents on the red map.

If you're playing an offensive build in Path of Exile Curse of the Allflame and need Essences of Wrath, Fury, or Hatred, Essence is a good choice. However, be careful on the red map, as Essence mobs can become too tanky early on, making them troublesome for some builds.

Altar Farming

Farming Exarch red altars during progression will yield a large amount of loot, such as Embers, PoE Divine Orbs, and occasionally some high-level items.

Even regular Embers can sell for 1 Chaos Orb on the first day, while high-level Embers can sell for 4 to 5 Chaos Orbs, and the price will climb to over 10 Chaos Orbs as the league progresses.

This method allows you to accumulate a large amount of resources early on, enabling both exploration and currency acquisition, which was almost impossible in the previous Patch 3.28.

Advice for Players

If you are a beginner, don't rush to level 14. At this point, your experience is insufficient, and quickly progressing through the maps is not easy. Simply complete the maps at your own pace.

Red Altar speed-farming strategy is very powerful, but it requires a build capable of handling level 14 and above maps. If your build doesn't meet this requirement, it's best to slow down, improve your character's strength first, and then challenge Red Altar maps.
