PoE Patch 3.29 Could Break the Endgame Meta and Bring Back True Exploration

PoE Patch 3.29 may focus on restoring uncertainty to gameplay. Predicted changes include Atlas Tree, League-exclusive rotating nodes, attribute nerfs, skill gem, map mechanics, and Scarab systems. Rather than adding new content, 3.29 could reshape player decision-making and revive exploration.

Jun 09, 2026 Author: EZG

Each update to Path of Exile carries players' anticipation for the unknown. However, in the past few Leagues, the underlying mechanics of PoE have gradually been fully analyzed by the community, and player behavior has shifted from exploration to execution.

Patch 3.29 will be released on July 24th at 1 PM Pacific Time, and an official livestream will be held on July 16th at 1 PM Pacific Time. This provides the official team with an opportunity to resolve this issue. Of course, to ensure you get the latest game updates, you can follow EZG Facebook; we'll release information as soon as it's available.

There may also be currency giveaways for the new league, so please participate! The following content is based on observations of long-term player decision-making patterns and is a structural inference of historical design patterns, not a leak of mechanics. These predictions are for reference only; the final game content is subject to official announcements.

PoE Patch 3.29 Could Break the Endgame Meta and Bring Back True Exploration

Core System Adjustments

The following are the most likely adjustments in PoE Patch 3.29.

Atlas Tree

The core contradiction currently facing PoE's Atlas Tree is: a large number of nodes, but limited effective selection space. It is predicted that in Patch 3.29, the official team may refer to Atlas Tree of PoE 2 and make certain adjustments to PoE node system.

Forced Trade-off Mechanism

This may lead to "mutually exclusive node clusters," for example, setting two powerful effects at the top of a pyramid, where players can only activate one and cannot bypass it with equipment or jewels.

This is not new content, but a restructuring of the existing node connection logic, so that temporary routes during the initial exploration phase are no longer directly optimal solutions in the endgame.

Limited-Time Node Rotation in Leagues

Drawing on the temporary affixes from previous Challenge Leagues, each League may randomly deactivate some talent points while enabling the same number of experimental nodes.

These node effects only take effect within the current League and the data will not be transferred to the permanent zone. This will force the community to recalculate the optimal path for each League, rather than using templates from several versions ago.

Constructed Prototypes

Strength, Intelligence, and other attribute stacking builds have dominated many PoE Leagues, rooted in the compound benefits of equipment affixes and players' investment and choices in Path of Exile 1 Currency.

The developers may introduce innovative interventions in Patch 3.29 to make building more diverse and reshape players' freedom of choice.

Attribute Gain Curve Softening

Attribute gains may be adjusted from a linear to a logarithmic curve, where the gain per point of attribute decreases beyond a certain threshold. This has precedents in games, but it's enough to disrupt the current optimal path.

Hidden Synergies in Skill Gems

A new support gem may be added, its effect described as "creating unknown interactions with a certain type of skill." Specific interaction methods will not be explained in-game and will require player testing. This will reintroduce experimental costs, encouraging players to move beyond pre-made forum solutions and explore on their own.

Possible Gameplay Optimizations

The following are some less priority adjustments in PoE Patch 3.29:

Map Pool

Players repeatedly farm the same batch of maps because of the optimal combination of layout efficiency and monster density. PoE may use dynamic adjustments in Patch 3.29 instead of directly nerfing popular maps.

Layout Fatigue Penalty

When using the same map more than three times consecutively, the map's extra monster density may gradually decrease, while the five maps with the longest unused time may receive a temporary density bonus. This mechanism does not require modifying the original map data; it can be implemented simply by recording player behavior through League mechanism.

Affixes Benefiting Rare Maps

The affix generation logic for low-population maps may be adjusted: for each rare affix, an additional positive effect will be added. This bonus will not be displayed in the affix bar but will exist implicitly, encouraging players to explore less popular maps.

Support Gems

Currently, PoE support gems mainly rely on DPS calculations, lacking scenario-based decision-making. This numerical optimization path also compresses players' choices. Patch 3.29 may rework some gems without damage bonuses, adding conditional effects.

Blindness Support

It is predicted that it may be adjusted to: besides reducing hit rate, blinded monsters will have a certain probability of accidentally damaging friendly units when using skills, making the blind effect more strategic in terms of control and damage disruption.

Stun Support

It may be changed to: when a skill stuns an enemy and the target's health is below 10%, an additional effect may be triggered. Enemies that cannot be stunned are unaffected but will have a stacked vulnerability effect. Players will need to switch gems according to the scenario, rather than using the same strategy for everything.

Mechanism Innovation Experiment: Scarabs

The cost and benefit of using Scarabs are already fully understood by PoE players, lacking randomness. If Patch 3.29 is to modify this aspect, the drop and effect mechanics are more likely to be adjusted.

Dynamic Slot Unlocking

Scarab slots may no longer be fixed at five, but dynamically unlocked based on the number or rarity of map affixes. For example, a rare map with six affixes might only have three slots available, while a white map could fill all five. This could potentially limit Scarab usage due to high-yield maps, forcing players to weigh the investment against the return.

Negative Scarabs Family

Negative Scarabs may be added, providing extremely high bonuses but with additional negative effects. These Scarabs will not be included in regular drops, only obtainable by defeating specific bosses or completing challenges. When using them, players need to assess whether they can cope with the side effects, while also considering the investment cost of Path of Exile 1 Currency.

Overall, the core change needed in Patch 3.29 is reintroducing uncertainty. Whether it's talent exclusivity, Scarabs side effects, attribute diminishing returns, map fatigue, or gem condition logic, these changes don't require new assets; instead, they optimize the parameters of existing rules.

If these changes are implemented, players will shift from being "confirmers of known answers" to "explorers of unknown paths." Patch 3.29 may not be remembered for its new content, but for the rule reshaping. The official livestream on July 16th will reveal the conclusive answer.

PoE 3.29 Curse of the Allflame Crackling Lance Elementalist Guide: Mana Buffs Made This League Starter Build Insane

Analysis of the patch notes applicable to Path of Exile 3.29 Curse of the Allflame expansion reveals that many players now realize that character builds that frequently utilize mana for spell-casting seem to be more advantageous and have higher exploration efficiency in this new league, as they receive the greatest buff to these skills.

In this context, they all started preparing to use this type of character build as a league starter and began to understand their build strategies. Among these, EZG.com highly recommends Crackling Lance Elementalist, whose massive area-of-effect damage is enough to easily get you through all Acts and head straight to endgame.

If you're also interested in it and want to get ahead of other players as soon as Curse of the Allflame opens, then you definitely can't miss this comprehensive guide to this Crackling Lance Elementalist Build, which includes how the build works and gear selection. It's worth noting that GGG may modify some attributes and values shortly after the league launches, so please stay tuned.

How does it work?

To create a Crackling Lance Elementalist build quickly and thoroughly in PoE 3.29, you must first understand how it works in the game.

About Crackling Lance

Start with Crackling Lance; when you cast it, the accompanying Intensify Support Gem grants you a stackable bonus to damage, increasing by 45% per stack.

Under normal circumstances, this damage bonus can stack up to three times, meaning you can gain up to 135% extra damage output. However, if you use Caster Mastery, the stack count will increase by one, for a total of 180% damage bonus, which is extremely effective in dealing with those waves of monsters attacking you in the early stages of a league.

That already looks pretty powerful, doesn't it? But in PoE2 Patch 3.29, this skill gem received an unprecedented buff: when you haven't started stacking, you will release a large area of beams that can cover a large area in front of you while casting Crackling Lance, and they will deal with some damage to enemies within the area.

And when you activate stacked damage bonus layers, the beam's spread range will shrink until it forms a huge laser beam that directly and fatally strikes enemies in its path. This additional damage method makes Crackling Lance the best choice for players who want to deal direct damage to elite monsters and bosses from a distance while quietly picking up POE currency and other loot in the background.

However, the buffs this skill gem receives in this new Path of Exile league are far more significant: upon reaching the level cap, the additional damage effect is increased to 190%, lightning damage is increased from 526 to 1578, and the casting time is reduced to 0.5 seconds. Each of these buffs is essential for the league's starter build.

Of course, Patch 3.29 adds a 25% mana cost penalty to all spell gems, including Crackling Lance. Therefore, in Curse of the Allflame, effective mana management and efficient mana reserves are crucial, as they will determine whether the build can achieve high sustainability. This may require the help of some high-level gear.

If you want to achieve mana freedom in the early stages of patch 3.29, you might as well buy PoE currency from EZG.com to trade for these gears that provide mana accumulation or roll out the high-quality mana-related affixes you need for specific gears. We always offer the best prices here, and during Curse of the Allflame, you can enjoy 8% off with a COA code!

About Elementalist

Having discussed how the main core skills work, let's look at the reasons for choosing Elementalist Ascendancy Class, primarily focusing on Ascendancy passive skill nodes it provides:

  • Shaper of Storms: It provides a 65% Shock effect, effectively keeping enemies within a specified range to facilitate the casting of other AoE damage skills.
  • Mastermind of Discord: It can maximize the effects of your Exposure abilities, such as reducing the target enemy's resistance to you and restoring some mana to yourself.
  • Shaper of Flames: It can make your defenses thicker and deal more fire damage, because both the damage and the hits will ignite the enemy.

This build cleverly combines Elementalist Ascendancy passive skill nodes and buffed Crackling Lance, utilizing the massive AoE damage and top-tier laser beams to overcome some of the difficulties in the early stages of Path of Exile 3.29; while also leveraging numerous summonable minions to gain even more combat buffs.

Gear Options

As mentioned earlier, when choosing the right gear for Crackling Lance Elementalist build, the first thing to consider is mana generation and affix accumulation; in addition, you should also consider affixes that can quickly increase skill levels, increase extra damage, and reduce the cooldown of core skills. Based on these requirements, EZG.com recommends the following items for you:

  • Weapon - Profane Wand
  • Shield - Titanium Spirit Shield
  • Helmet - Faithful Helmet
  • Amulet - Citrine Amulet
  • Rings - Two-Stone (Cold/Lightning)
  • Body Armour - Grand Ringmail
  • Gloves - Crusader Gloves
  • Belt - Heavy Belt
  • Boots - Crusader Boots
  • Jewel - Cobalt Jewel
  • Flasks - Endless Jade Flask of the Ibex, Endless Quicksilver Flask of the Lynx, Practitioner's Granite Flask of the Tortoise, Bottomless Silver Flask and Seething Divine Life Flask of Alleviation

These gears are options that players have tried in previous PoE leagues and found to greatly benefit Crackling Lance Elementalist build. They underwent relatively minor balance changes in Patch 3.29, so EZG.com still recommends them.

However, if GGG releases any additional patches in the future, they may face some changes. At that time, you can make corresponding modifications in PoE Curse of the Allflame expansion based on your playstyle. Remember, the build is for you; don't let it limit you.

The above explains the workings and gear options of Crackling Lance Elementalist build, a worthwhile starter build for the current Path of Exile 3.29 Curse of the Allflame. Hopefully, this guide will effectively help you complete all the early-game content and reach the endgame faster.

PoE 3.29 Scion Luminary Is Here: Two Powerful Mercenary Builds That Change How You Play

Scion has found new opportunities in Path of Exile: Curse of the Allflame.

Its third Ascendancy class, Luminary, breaks away from the traditional core mechanics of Scion, and the official team has unusually showcased two highly effective builds for the new league, each with a different focus.

Players can choose based on their preferred playstyle and team needs. Let's explore the unique mechanics of this new Ascendancy class and the configuration details of these two builds.

Core Mechanics

Scion's Luminary is specifically designed to complement Mercenaries of Trarthus mechanic, which returned and became a permanent core mechanic in Path of Exile 3.29:

1. Breaking Restrictions

While regular classes only receive temporary assistance from Mercenaries after defeating them on the map, Luminary, by unlocking the core Ascendancy Passive Noble Blood, can permanently hire a mercenary as a resident combat partner.

2. Backstage Availability

Luminary can hire up to 3 different mercenaries simultaneously. While only one mercenary can charge into battle with you at a time, two others will remain in hideouts or towns, allowing you to switch between them depending on the combat situation.

3. Equipment Freedom

Unlike previous companions who could only use specific items, Luminary's resident mercenaries can freely change their entire equipment set. This means you can directly equip your mercenaries with the most powerful unique items, creating entirely new build options.

How to Find Mercenaries?

Mercenaries of Trarthus have officially joined the gameplay mechanics of Path of Exile: Curse of the Allflame. If you want to defeat mercenaries and hire them, you can find them through the following core methods and fixed spawn points:

1. Fixed Spawn Points

During story progression, the system provides areas on specific maps where mercenaries are guaranteed to spawn.

  • Act 3: The Sceptre of God.
  • Act 4: The Grand Arena.
  • Act 9: The Ridge.
  • Act 10: The Hidden Underbelly.

It's important to note that the maximum number of weapons and items a mercenary can equip depends on the map level where you find them. This means that if you want mercenaries with higher item caps, you can search for them in T16 and higher-tier Atlas maps.

2. Map Exploration

From Act 3 onwards, through later Atlas maps, players will randomly encounter these Trarthus mercenaries while normally exploring. They will have a special marker on the minimap, and upon approaching, they will be either neutral or hostile.

You can interact with them; clicking on them will trigger a betting duel. You'll need to use gold as a wager to bet on a specific piece of equipment carried by the mercenary.

If you win, you'll not only obtain the wagered equipment but also recruit the mercenary (all common classes will only receive temporary assistance, but Luminary can obtain permanent employment).

If you lose, your wagered gold will belong to the mercenary.

3. Warrants

For players who have reached the endgame of Path of Exile and are looking for top-tier mercenaries, mercenaries are bundled into items called Warrants for easy trading between players. Before trading, you can view the mercenary's skills, support gems, and starting equipment, and then choose based on your class and build.

In the current market, a high-level mercenary Warrant with a skill perfectly suited to the meta ranges costs between 10 and 50 Chaos Orbs. Top-tier pure DPS or all-around defensive mercenaries from T16-T17 maps with perfectly synergistic skills cost even more, ranging from 1 to 5+ Divine Orbs.

If your budget is limited, you can also buy Path of Exile Currency from EZG.com. Curse of the Allflame will officially launch soon after, so ordering now will not only get you the best price but also allow you to quickly upgrade your strength ahead of other players.

Luminary Passive Tree

Having top-tier mercenaries, combined with Luminary's Passive Skills, can yield even better results.

Loyal Bodyguard

This passive skill's specific attribute is that when your mercenary's health is higher than yours, 20% of the damage you take from hits will be deducted from your mercenary's health first.

This means that regardless of whether you're going for a traditional health-based, shield-based, or CI build, this 20% hard damage reduction will take effect immediately, significantly increasing the player character's effective health.

If your mercenary's health is lower than yours, 40% of the damage your mercenary takes will be converted into health recoup over the next 4 seconds.

Bestowed Knighthood

Its specific attribute is that when your mercenary hits an enemy, it triggers Taunt on Hit and has a 50% Effect of Non-Curse Auras from Skills.

Best Builds

Therefore, based on Luminary's unique mechanics and Passive Skills, here are two builds best suited for use in Path of Exile 3.29.

1. Luminary Main Attack + Mercenary Support

Main Skills

Rallying Cry

This skill provides a significant amount of bonus base damage to all allies based on the user's main-hand weapon damage.

Core Equipment

  • Main Hand Weapon: Choose a one-handed weapon with high base damage.
  • Amulet: Stranglegasp, adds 3 different passives, greatly enhancing the damage amplification effect of Rallying Cry.
  • Cooldown Reduction Equipment: Increases the uptime of Cry and skills.
  • Ring: Anathema, increases the mercenary's curse cap, applying an additional double curse to enemies without overwriting the player's own Assassin's Mark.
  • Gloves (Player's Own): Facebreaker, utilizes the massive base damage provided by the mercenary's Cry to unleash devastating damage with unarmed skills.

2. Luminary Support + Mercenary Offense

Players, as commanders, stack health and aura range, utilizing link skills to simultaneously enhance mercenaries and Animate Guardians (AGs), forming a multi-player coordinated ranged and melee tactical squad.

Core Equipment

  • Ring: Enmity's Embrace, converts excess fire resistance from mercenaries into fire resistance penetration, creating extremely high fire resistance and fire penetration.
  • Amulet: Untouched Soul, each white socket on mercenary equipment provides a significant amount of elemental resistance (mercenaries don't rely on socket combos, so equipment can be re-rolled to have all white sockets).
  • Helmet: Hallowed Monarch, provides a massive aura range and allows players to additionally apply link skills to Animate Guardians, making both Animate Guardians and mercenaries top-tier damage dealers.

These two playstyles are merely demonstrations to introduce players to the basic mechanics of Luminary. Path of Exile: Curse of the Allflame is coming soon. For more update information, follow EZG Facebook and claim our free PoE currency giveaway to accumulate more resources.

In short, whether you use mercenaries as ultimate defensive and damage-boosting support or build them into the core of your damage output, Luminary offers players a high degree of build freedom and tactical depth. Mastering these core mechanics and choosing the playstyle that suits you will help you gain an advantage in the new league.

Path of Exile 3.29 Scorching Ray of Immolation Buff Explained: Why This Totem Build Could Dominate League Start?

PoE 3.29 Curse of the Allflame will be officially released on July 24, 2026, at 1 PM Pacific Time. The official update announcement has been released, and the buff to Damage over Time (DoT) skill has sparked heated discussions among players.

While skills like Cold DoT and Death's Oath have received welcome buffs, one enhancement is particularly noteworthy and could even reshape the game: the adjustment to Scorching Ray of Immolation.

It's worth noting that Scorching Ray of Immolation was already a highly competitive skill in Patch 3.28. Scorching Ray totem build has proven to be a reliable choice in Challenge Mode - dealing considerable damage while maintaining sufficient survivability to survive under extreme pressure and defeat super bosses.

In Path of Exile Patch 3.29, Scorching Ray of Immolation has received further enhancements. This article will analyze Scorching Ray of Immolation and Scorching Ray totem build that benefits from it.

About Scorching Ray of Immolation

In Patch 3.29, Scorching Ray of Immolation received two direct numerical buffs. While these may seem insignificant individually, they interact multiplicatively with the skill mechanics.

Base Damage

At Gem Level 20, the skill now deals approximately 2744 base Fire damage per second, up from 2343. This equates to approximately a 17% increase in base damage.

Debuff Duration

The base duration of Burning debuff has increased from 3 seconds to 4 seconds, an increase of approximately 33%.

Totem Interaction

While these numbers seem good for Scorching Ray of Immolation in PoE: Curse of the Allflame, the real power of this buff lies in its gameplay - its synergy with totems.

When Scorching Ray of Immolation is used in conjunction with totems, the damage can be stacked to its maximum, no longer limited to a maximum of 8 stacks per totem; you can accumulate dozens of stacks of the debuff on a single target over time.

Each totem generates an independent beam, and each beam applies an independent burning debuff to the enemy. This means multiple totems can attack the same target simultaneously, and each totem deals full damage, unlike many other non-stackable damage over time effects.

The fire resistance penalty from multiple beams is capped at -24%, but the damage of each beam stacks completely. The faster you summon totems, the faster your damage increases. Increased ability duration extends the duration of each debuff, allowing for even more stacks simultaneously.

Build Analysis

Patch 3.29 enhances Scorching Ray of Immolation, significantly boosting Scorching Ray totem build. Numerically, base damage is increased by 17%, and duration by 33%, theoretically resulting in a damage increase of approximately 56% at full stacks.

However, the reality is more complex. PoE 3.29 Patch also significantly buffed Spell Totem Support gem. At gem level 20, the damage reduction multiplier increased from 40% to 50%.

Considering this, the actual damage increase for Scorching Ray totem build at full stacks is approximately 30%. Not only has the damage multiplier increased, but the damage duration has also been extended from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.

At the start of the Patch, Scorching Ray totem build is undoubtedly an excellent early-game build. Players simply need to effectively place totems and focus on positioning and survival.

Recommended Gears

The Searing Touch Staff

The Searing Touch Staff is the preferred weapon for Scorching Ray totem build. Its fire damage bonus, burning damage, and casting speed directly enhance the power of Scorching Ray. A +2 fire skill gem will also significantly increase your damage output.

Kaom's Heart

For armor, Kaom's Heart provides a life bonus to this build, greatly increasing the character's survivability. If you don't have Kaom's Heart, a rare piece of armor with excellent stats, high life, high resistances, and high armor will also be quite effective.

Watcher's Eye

In Path of Exile Curse of the Allflame, jewels should prioritize those with totem life, player life, fire damage, totem damage, and damage over time bonuses. Watcher's Eye jewels with Anger modifiers provide powerful additional bonuses.

Passive Tree Strategy

Passive tree for Scorching Ray Totems build focuses on a few key areas. First, totem-related talent nodes, such as Ancestral Bond, are crucial, providing both additional totem count and increased totem damage.

Second, talent nodes related to skill duration also require special attention, as they extend the burning duration of Scorching Ray. This allows the burn effect to persist longer after the enemy leaves the beam, which is especially important in boss fights requiring agile movement.

Finally, you also need to consider talent nodes related to health and pair them with appropriate resistances. For example, Mind Over Matter can further reduce damage, and Sanctuary of Thought can reduce mana consumption and provide an additional energy shield.

Scorching Ray of Immolation demonstrated its strong competitiveness in 3.28 Patch, and after the buffs in PoE Patch 3.29, this skill is even more unstoppable.

Scorching Ray Totem build has also benefited greatly from this. With proper optimization, you can deal millions of damage per second while maintaining strong defensive capabilities through precise positioning and totem mechanics.

This concludes the article on Scorching Ray of Immolation in Path of Exile Patch 3.29. For more information, follow EZG Facebook; there will be occasional giveaways to help you accumulate resources. What are you waiting for? Join now!

Scorching Ray Totem build is especially suitable for players who prefer a steady, cautious playstyle. Its stacking damage mechanism and the scaling of fire damage create burst potential unmatched by other totem builds. Give it a try once PoE Curse of the Allflame is released!

PoE 3.29 Winter Orb Elementalist Build Returns as a Comfortable League Starter

Winter Orb is back. The buffs in Path of Exile Patch 3.29 have brought this classic skill back into the spotlight. Higher damage, better critical hit rate, and more projectiles give it the potential to become a popular League build again.

I think the biggest selling point of this Winter Orb Elementalist build is its comfort. No complicated controls, no need to constantly switch skills; once Winter Orb is activated, the character can simply move and clear maps.

For players who enjoy easy map clearing and want to experience automated gameplay, this is a very attractive option.

Build Positioning

Winter Orb was once one of the most popular skills and a classic build for many veteran PoE players. Its strength lies in its excellent mechanics. However, precisely because its mechanics were too good, Winter Orb was quickly nerfed.

By accumulating stacks through short channeling and then unleashing a barrage of auto-attacks with Winter Orb, players could continuously output damage while moving.

However, in Patch 3.29, this skill was buffed again. With improvements to base damage, critical strike chance, and the number of Projectiles, many players are reconsidering its potential as a starter character in the league.

This guide introduces Elementalist Winter Orb build as an Ascendancy class, focusing on low cost, simple operation, and stable progression.

It doesn't aim for maximum damage or stack a lot of expensive gear, but aims to create a Winter Orb Elementalist that most players can easily master.

Skill Mechanics

Winter Orb is a channeling skill. PoE players need to accumulate stacks through channeling; the higher the stacks, the more Winter Orbs can be released. Usually, after stacking close to 10, the skill's output reaches a comfortable level.

This is also the most attractive aspect of this skill. Traditional spells require players to stand still and continuously cast, while Patch 3.29's Winter Orb only requires a startup process; after that, the character can move freely, and the skill will automatically seek and attack targets.

When farming normal maps, it's basically a matter of activating the skill, moving, and picking up gear. However, be aware that Winter Orb gains a higher Projectiles casting frequency while continuously channeling.

Therefore, when facing single targets, don't rely solely on auto-cast; holding down the right mouse button to continuously channel will significantly increase damage.

This build is very comfortable for clearing maps, but some boss fights will take longer, which is something to accept for low-cost Winter Orb builds.

Leveling Path

In PoE Patch 3.29, the leveling phase of Winter Orb build is very simple.

Use Freezing Pulse in the early game. Freezing Pulse is a very stable starting skill, clears mobs well, and doesn't require too many resources.

After reaching level 28, switch directly to Winter Orb. I think this is very suitable for new players. The biggest problem with many builds is that the leveling phase and the final endgame are completely different, requiring constant skill switching, while Winter Orb path allows for a very natural transition.

Gear Selection

This build has very friendly gear requirements. It's not tied to any expensive unique item, nor does it require scrambling for popular gear in the early stages of Curse of the Allflame. This is very friendly to PoE SSF players.

Early game gear should focus on life and resistances. This is because Winter Orb Elementalist really needs to focus on casting speed, as this attribute directly affects the feel of skills.

Therefore, with low casting speed, Winter Orb's activation is noticeably sluggish; once casting speed is increased, skill casting becomes very smooth, even feeling almost automatic.

Later game weapons are recommended to be Profane Wand. The excellent spell rating, casting speed, and related damage affixes provided by this Wand will bring Winter Orb Elementalist to a completely different experience.

Projectiles and Range

Winter Orb Elementalist needs to pay close attention to the number of Projectiles.

In the early stages of Curse of the Allflame, when there are no other sources, you can use Greater Multiple Projectiles Support to improve map clearing efficiency.

Later, once you obtain additional Projectiles through PoE gear like Dying Sun, you can consider replacing it.

There's a common misconception here: area-of-effect damage and additional Projectiles might not significantly increase the skill's displayed DPS, but their actual map clearing performance is greatly improved.

With a larger area of effect, Projectiles are more likely to overlap; with more Projectiles, the coverage area also increases. These translate into actual damage output.

Ascendancy Selection

This build chooses Elementalist for its Ascendancy classes for a simple reason: it's cheap, stable, and has low progression pressure.

As for Ascendancy passive skill, Bastion of Elements is recommended early on. Because gear is average and characters are relatively fragile during the early game, the defense provided by Bastion of Elements is very comfortable and can significantly reduce the number of deaths.

Once you have a better gear set, you can consider switching to Shaper of Storms to increase damage. Of course, if you're playing a PoE Softcore League, you can completely focus more on damage output later; if you want to play more conservatively, you can keep Bastion of Elements for longer.

Defensive System

This build uses Eldritch Battery and Mind Over Matter to address resource issues. Eldritch Battery allows the energy shield to function as a mana source, while Mind Over Matter transfers some damage to mana.

In this way, the energy shield solves two problems simultaneously: providing mana regeneration for sustained Winter Orb damage output, and acting as an additional defensive layer.

Once fully built, this build's survivability is higher than many PoE players imagine. A standard build might only have around 5,000 health, but the final build can approach 8,000 effective health while also gaining some armor.

Follow EZG Facebook for the latest PoE updates and exclusive free perks! Participate in our Player's Choice Giveaway for a chance to be one of the lucky winners to win free prizes (under $10) to help you quickly put together your build!

Winter Orb Elementalist isn't the fastest way to climb the leaderboards, nor is it the highest-damage build for bosses, but its gameplay experience is excellent.

If you're tired of high-skill melee builds and looking for a character that allows you to multitask and chat while farming, Curse of the Allflame's Winter Orb Elementalist is definitely worth trying.

Path of Exile 3.29 Curse of the Allflame Spineshatter Champion Build Guide | Champion Returns as a Powerful League Starter

Champion is back!

Prior to Path of Exile 3.24, Champion was a Tier 0 class in whole league, with popular builds targeting it. However, a significant nerf in 3.25 dealt a blow to both its survivability and damage output. During the two leagues from 3.26 to 3.28, it struggled to survive and adapt, relying on variant gems.

But now, Champion players finally see a glimmer of hope.

Path of Exile 3.29's Curse of the Allflame reworked the old league mechanics, completely removed skill slot color restrictions, and developed Spinesnatch system, which revolves around specific physical weapons and mechanics. This veteran class has finally returned to the players' attention in a completely new guise - Spineshatter Champion.

Core Mechanics

Champion's inherent attributes didn't change much in Path of Exile 3.29; what fundamentally altered its situation was league mechanics themselves. The core damage output mechanism of Spineshatter Champion remains Bonezone.

Main Functions

Bonezone serves three main purposes for Spineshatter Champion:

1. Damage Amplifier

Bonezone's core skill, Spineshatter, grants the player one stack of Trauma upon each enemy hit. Each stack of Trauma provides a significant increase in physical damage and percentage-based total damage.

Champion utilizes high attack speed to aggressively stack Trauma, allowing Spineshatter to maintain its tankiness while still possessing terrifying burst damage capable of instantly killing PoE 3.29 Abyss Bosses.

2. Wide-Area Explosion

Spineshatter has a powerful built-in buff: when it hits two stunned enemies, it unleashes a physical Shockwave based on the stun duration.

Spineshatter build is named as such because it specializes in maximizing Stun threshold and damage of two-handed heavy weapons.

Spineshatter's Stun Shockwave, amplified by Champion's high attack speed, triggers a chain reaction of explosions with each strike, perfectly addressing Champion's previous fatal weaknesses of slow map clearing and short range.

3. Activating Defense Through Self-Damage

The higher Spineshatter's Trauma stacks, the more physical self-damage the player receives. While this might result in instant death from bosses for other classes in Path of Exile, it's a significant advantage for Champion.

This is because Champion possesses extremely high permanent armor and evasion, especially in Path of Exile's Curse of the Allflame, where Divine Shield talent is introduced. Spineshatter's frequent, minor physical self-damage is instantly reduced to single digits by Champion's high armor.

Furthermore, it frequently triggers shield regeneration and various defensive effects from recent hits, allowing Champion to grow thicker and thicker in hordes of monsters.

However, it's important to note that while Spineshatter can inflict damage through self-harm, it also carries the risk of instant death. This involves a tug-of-war between Trauma Scaling and defensive stats, with two key pieces of equipment playing a crucial role in mitigating this threat.

Core Equipment

Spinesnatch

Spinesnatch is a brand-new Abyss legendary two-handed axe introduced in Path of Exile Curse of the Allflame. Its addition transforms Spineshatter Champion from a traditional early-game tank into a late-game powerhouse, thanks to its six built-in Abyssal Sockets.

And its built-in affix effect: If a Searching Eye Jewel is added to the socket, each added grants an 11% attack speed bonus.

This means that if you insert 6 Searching Eye Jewels into Spinesnatch, it will instantly gain an incredibly high global attack speed of 68%. This can drastically change Champion's attack power, pushing Trauma stacks of Spinesnatch to their limit in a very short time.

Of course, you can also choose to equip The Adorned or other jewel amplifications, such as Murderous Eye Jewel, which increases Spinesnatch's physical damage by 29%, crucial for defeating the boss in the final stages. Additionally:

  • Hypnotic Eye Jewels: Each provides +31% critical strike chance.
  • Ghastly Eye Jewels: Each gives summoned creatures a +27% chance to pierce, but this is not commonly used in melee builds.

Acquisition Methods

Spinesnatch features a unique acquisition method in Path of Exile 3.29. Players can get this item by defeating Abyss final boss, Zorath, where it can drop as a reward. Alternatively, it can be obtained from other players through the trade market using PoE Divine Orbs or Chaos Orbs.

Boneshatter of Complex Trauma

If the main function of Spinesnatch is to enhance the advantages of Spineshatter Champion, then the function of Boneshatter of Complex Trauma is to compensate for the weaknesses of Spineshatter Champion.

From the mechanics of Boneshatter described above, we can understand that the self-harm mechanism of Spineshatter Champion is not without danger; the more Trauma Scaling occurs, the greater the risk of the character dying instantly.

Therefore, the core function of Boneshatter of Complex Trauma, as a skill gem, is to forcibly limit the maximum Trauma stacks for this build.

When Trauma stacks reach 10, all stacks are instantly reset. From stacks 1-9, Boneshatter of Complex Trauma provides a 15% increase in physical damage per stack, reaching a staggering 135% at stack 9.

This limitation means the maximum physical self-damage you can withstand is always the value of stack 9.

In PoE 3.29, Champion's permanent 20 stacks of Fortify easily negate self-damage during assessment, eliminating the need for stacking tens of thousands of armor to prevent overload death, as required with traditional Boneshatter.

Acquisition Method

The most recommended method during the early stages of the new league is stable conversion using Divine Font in Labyrinth final room.

Simply prepare a regular Boneshatter, select Transfigured Version in the final room, and since Boneshatter has few mutation branches, a maximum of two conversions are needed for a stable acquisition. Similarly, if you don't want to run through the maze, you can also use PoE Currency to obtain on the trading market.

Path of Exile 3.29 Curse of the Allflame: I Bet You Missed These Hidden Changes That Could Change How You Level and Farm

After the release of Path of Exile 3.29 Curse of the Allflame, most players focused on the new league content and class adjustments. However, there are actually many important changes hidden in different parts of the patch notes that are easily overlooked.

These adjustments, although not highlighted by the official patch notes, can directly affect your progression efficiency, build choices, and late-game farming experience.

Next, EZG will introduce these important changes in Path of Exile Curse of the Allflame that you might have overlooked.

Monster Reflect

Let's start with the changes to Monster Reflect. Reflect has always been a less-than-popular mechanic. Now, POE is finally making significant changes to this mechanic. The familiar reflection mechanic from Patch 3.29 will be removed, replaced by a completely new Thorns damage system.

Monsters can now possess either physical or elemental thorns bonuses, essentially a monster buff that activates when they receive the corresponding type of damage. For example, when a monster with physical thorns takes physical damage, it activates a buff lasting 5 seconds. Each time it is attacked, it deals a fixed amount of damage to the attacker.

Several points about this change are crucial. First, you can only take physical or elemental thorns damage once every 0.1 seconds, allowing for timely reactions, especially if you have damage reduction abilities. For instance, if you have elemental resistance, 1,500 points of reflected damage will only deal 375 points of damage to you.

However, physical thorn damage is more dangerous. Some Path of Exile builds have almost no physical damage reduction, relying primarily on evasion and similar abilities. But don't worry, your evasion stacks still apply, and skills like blocking and dodging will affect damage.

These damage modifiers will vary depending on the type of damage you actually inflict. If you initiate an attack, your dodge ability will apply to the reflected damage. If you initiate an attack or cast a spell, the block effect will actually apply to the type of spell that is reflected back.

However, there's one thing to note about this change: previously, because of the small amount of elemental reflection damage, you could completely ignore it. But in Curse of the Allflame, Thorns system reflects a fixed amount of damage. Even if you only deal a very small amount of elemental damage, after triggering Elemental Thorns effect, you will take the full Thorns damage.

Therefore, builds with a low attack frequency will only take one Thorns damage instance, while those with many small damage instances in Path of Exile may actually take more damage.

Grey Spire & Stasis Prison

Two easily overlooked unique items in Path of Exile Curse of the Allflame have also received significant buffs. The first is Grey Spire. This staff wasn't used much in the history of Path of Exile, but it's very useful for Chieftains, providing a significant global damage boost. And in Patch 3.29, it received a major buff. Now, its damage can be increased by up to 400%, and all maximum resistances by up to 5%. Its only drawback is the lack of sockets, but it now has a new affix: Implicit Modifier Magnitudes are doubled.

If you corrupt or double-corrupt this staff, you may gain some very powerful intrinsic affixes. Additionally, Path of Exile Divine Orb can be used to update existing items to the new values, but they will not receive the Implicit Modifier Magnitudes are doubled change.

Another buff is to Stasis Prison. It gains an 80%-100% Increased Implicit Modifier Magnitudes, which also nearly doubles Implicit effect. Combined with the new Vestigial Unique mechanic and the new Corrupted Implicits, this Body Armour is expected to see more high-value combinations in PoE in the future.

Meanwhile, this change also suggests that Stasis Prison may be primarily obtained through Vestigial Unique Chains in the future, rather than from previous acquisition methods.

Avoidance Stacking

Previously, in PoE, Chance to Avoid All Damage from Hits and Avoidance effects targeting specific damage types did not directly add up.

After Patch 3.29, both are now calculated additively. This means that Avoidance effects gained by Assassins using Elusive can directly stack with sources providing physical Avoidance, such as Aspect of Stone or Replica Mistwall, which is undoubtedly a significant buff for Assassins.

Support Gems

After completing Caged Brute in Patch 3.29, all PoE classes can obtain Faster Attacks Support from Nessa; after completing Act II Sharp and Cruel, all classes can obtain Faster Casting Support from Yeena.

The most significant impact is on Faster Attacks. Previously, Witches and Templars had difficulty obtaining this support skill during early progression; now, they can utilize movement skills like Shield Charge earlier to improve movement efficiency, which will help with overall leveling speed.

Immortal Call Bug

Curse of the Allflame also fixed a bug related to Immortal Call and Minimum Endurance Charges. Previously, POE Immortal Call incorrectly included unconsumable Minimum Charges in the calculation of physical damage reduction per stack of Endurance Charge, allowing many Hierophant builds to achieve significantly higher-than-expected physical damage reduction.

This mechanism was officially fixed in Path of Exile 3.29. Only actually consumable Endurance Charges will be included in the calculation, thus reducing the survivability of builds relying on this mechanism. If your build was affected, you can buy Path of Exile Currency from EZG.com to help you build powerful gear and improve survivability.

QoL Features

Chimera Map

The boss in Pit of the Chimera now spawns only one wave of enemies per phase, previously four waves. Compared to other Shaper Guardian Maps, this boss fight is ridiculously long and tedious, so any changes that improve this are welcome.

Monster Soul Eater & Explode

The duration of Soul Eater monsters gaining souls has been shortened. If they don't gain more souls within two seconds, the souls will disappear much faster. Therefore, when facing Soul Eater Rare, you can now create distance and wait for the buff to disappear naturally instead of constantly fighting it.

Additionally, the timer for the delayed explosions of Elemental Orbs after death in POE will no longer stop even if you leave the area, preventing instant death from ground explosions after defeating the boss.

Ctrl Click

In POE Patch 3.29, Immortal Syndicate members can skip the confirmation window during Release using Ctrl+Click, reducing a lot of repetitive actions. While this change may seem minor, players who frequently farm Betrayal should notice a significant efficiency improvement.
