Important Notes

Merchants do not calculate the total quality of all gems in the trading window. Instead, they evaluate gems in a specific order and group them until the total quality of gems within a group reaches 40%.

Once a group reaches the 40% quality requirement, it is removed from the calculation. Any gems exceeding 40% quality (e.g., 2% exceeding the total quality of 42%) are discarded and will not carry over to the next group.

Simply put, a gem's quality cannot be used in two different recipes simultaneously. Finally, any remaining gems that cannot form a new 40% quality group will be returned to you in base currency.

Divination Card Exchanges

Specific Divination Cards can be exchanged for Gemcutter's Prisms, as follows:

In Path of Exile Curse of the Allflame 3.29 Patch Notes, Socket system underwent a major overhaul. Previously, the socket color determined whether Gems could be placed inside; this restriction has now been removed. Equipment sockets default to White, allowing Gems of any color to be placed inside.

When colors are uniform, the corresponding Gem's Quality is increased by 10%. Therefore, players can use this mechanism to use Gems of the same color in equipment slots to increase Quality of equipment using Orb of Fusing.

2. Phased Use

If your primary goal is simply leveling up your character or you've just entered the map progression phase, using Orbs of Fusing to farm 5-Links is sufficient. Visually, prioritize easily identifiable high-value Path of Exile Beasts, such as beasts with red spikes on their backs, gigantic spiders with white spots, significantly larger wilder beasts, and bears and dogs with distinctive red or white features. Additionally, some strangely shaped frogs, birds, or tentacled beasts may also be valuable.

Ideally, each map should be completed in about one minute. Once you spot a target beast, deal with it immediately. Don't waste time checking monsters that aren't valuable; after capturing them, continue clearing the map. If your build can quickly clear mobs, you should minimize the time spent on a single map and use more maps to increase overall efficiency.

Besides Beasts, keep an eye out for Starfall Craters on PoE maps. Enter them immediately and clear them quickly. As long as your build's map clearing ability is strong enough, this extra content won't take up too much time. Using this method, the cost per map is only about 45-50 Chaos Orbs, mainly from Scarabs and the map itself.

Menagerie Management

After completing a map, besides continuing to look for high-value Path of Exile Beasts, you also need to check Menagerie regularly. As you continue capturing Beasts, Menagerie will quickly reach its capacity limit. You need to clear it after about 25-30 maps.

The operation of Cursed Ducats is straightforward: players can socket a maximum of three Cursed Ducats in their Voyage Planner simultaneously. Each Cursed Ducat provides three stackable basic buffs to monsters in Voyages and Charts:

First, Monster Toughness: This is essentially a damage reduction mechanism, not simply an increase in health.

For example, a monster with 1 million health and 600% toughness requires 7 million damage to kill, compared to a monster with 7 million health and 0% toughness. However, their effects on life steal and damage over time caps will differ.

Second, Quantity of Items Dropped: Directly increases the total amount of loot dropped.

Third, Rarity of Items Dropped: Increases the probability of dropping high-quality equipment.

If you acquire all three buffs, they can collectively provide up to 60% increased Quantity of Items Dropped and 60% increased Rarity of Items Dropped, equivalent to gaining an additional high-value Map Modifier.

Negative Modifiers

In addition, each Cursed Ducat comes with a unique negative Difficulty Modifier, which players need to carefully choose based on their character build.

For example, some Cursed Ducats increase monster damage by 50%, some increase monster elemental resistance by 10%, some increase monster critical strike chance by 500% and critical strike damage by 50%, and others increase monster attack, casting, and movement speed by 50%.

The intention behind this design is clear: to allow players to actively choose the negative effect that has the least impact on their class build, thereby finding a balance between high rewards and manageable risks.

For example, builds with low elemental resistance will avoid Cursed Ducats, which increase monster elemental resistance by 10%, while melee classes might prefer Cursed Ducats that increase monster critical strike chance.

In short, this change is widely considered one of the most useful positive changes in PoE Patch 3.29.3, and even players who don't approve of Patch 3.29.3 will acknowledge the usefulness of Cursed Ducats.

Negative Change: Essence of Desolation

This bug was fixed in Patch 3.29.3 by completely eliminating all acquisition methods for Essence Modifier in PoE.

The crux of the problem is that existing equipment with Essence modifier, as well as equipment duplicated through Mirror of Kalandra, remains unaffected and continues to exist in the game.
