World of Warcraft: Forever will officially launch on November 4, 2026. In this game, healing seems challenging and incredibly fun, but it's not as easy as you might think. Unlike DPS classes, your success doesn't depend on the numbers on your healing gauge, but on the survival of your raid group.
This guide covers the basics of healing in WoW Forever, and how to avoid the most common mistakes novice healers make. Let's take a look.

Setting Up Your Healing UI
For normal quests, the default healing interface is perfectly adequate. However, once you enter a raid, you'll find it's not optimized for healing. The following simple settings can significantly improve the visibility of teammates and target locking efficiency.
Use Raid-Style Party Frames
Press Esc key to enter Edit mode, then click on the party frames in the upper left corner. Check Raid-Style Party Frames and drag them to the center of the screen. This allows you to monitor your teammates while focusing on your own character.
In this menu, you can also customize the display of buffs and debuffs, and even change the display direction from vertical to horizontal if needed. Save your changes in edit mode when finished.
Enable Mouseover Casting
Open the options menu and search for Mouseover. Check Mouseover Casting - this way, you can simply hover your mouse over a teammate's health bar and press the heal button to heal them without clicking.
It might feel a little strange at first, but once you get used to it, you'll find it significantly faster because it eliminates a click - this is extremely useful for healing the entire team.
A Few More Quick Settings
Search for Camera, set Camera Follow Style to Never, and ensure the maximum follow distance is 2.6.
Search for Class and enable Use Class Colors - this is my personal preference, but class colors allow you to easily identify teammates at a glance, which is very useful and worth trying.

Class Selection
WoW Classic+ offers players four classes that can be used as healers: Priest (Discipline or Holy), Paladin (Holy), Shaman (Restoration), and Druid (Restoration). There is no single best healer - each class has its unique strengths.
Priest
Priest is the most traditional healer, offering both Holy and Discipline specializations, making it one of the most versatile healing options. Its diverse skills and dispel abilities make it popular in dungeons, especially among new players.
- Holy Priest: Specializes in direct healing, rapid regeneration, and group healing.
- Discipline Priest: Focuses more on shields, damage mitigation, and a balance of offense and defense; some builds can utilize damage to support healing.
Paladin
Paladin (Holy) is the most resilient healer in WoW Classic Plus, wearing plate armor and possessing powerful defensive abilities. They excel in PvP and group support, but in PvE, they tend to focus more on single-target healing. If you prefer a more forgiving and survivable playstyle, this is a good choice.
Shaman
Restoration Shaman excels at using skills like Chain Heal to restore the health of multiple teammates and provides additional team buffs through totems. However, players need to manage totems carefully, as they are historically mana-intensive. Therefore, this class is not ideal for absolute beginners.
Druid
Restoration Druid primarily relies on Healing Over Time (HoT) effects to maintain the health of teammates and possesses flexible form-switching capabilities. They excel at sustained healing and are suitable for long battles. Their weakness is relatively weak external support capabilities.
Leveling as a Healer
The path to level is long and arduous - your first character will take approximately 200 hours to master. This means you'll struggle alone until you actually enter WoW Classic Plus dungeons to save your teammates. Next, I'll teach you how to do it.
You Need Damage to Progress
Most of your time should be spent on open-world quests, but you'll need a certain level of DPS to progress through the game. This means you need to carefully consider your talent and gear choices when playing solo. Unless you'll be inseparable from your teammates afterward, you might need a hybrid build that can both deal damage and heal.
Completing Healing Dungeons
Healing dungeons aren't difficult as long as your level is right. Choosing some - or even all - damage talents for healing dungeons is perfectly fine.
Choose Paladin talent tree around level 20: If you max out your healing talents from the start, you'll eventually have higher intellect, healing output, and mana regeneration - great for dungeon healing.
When you need to solo powerful monsters, choose Retribution tree, which provides a lot of parry, critical strike chance, and a powerful Seal of Command. You don't need to pursue maximum damage output while leveling, but you should prioritize high-value talents to speed up your leveling process.
Common Mistakes Beginners Make
Insufficient consumables. Before entering a dungeon, make sure your mana consumables are full; they are your ammunition. If you don't want to run out halfway through, you can buy WoW Forever gold to stock up on consumables. The time saved is far more valuable than the money spent.
Over-healing. Healing when the target's health is at 95% wastes mana. Wait until the damage is high enough before healing.
Using Flash Heal in a panic. Flash Heal is very expensive. Trust your effective healing abilities to work in time and save Flash Heal for truly urgent situations.
Ignoring your positioning. Stay within the attack range of the tank and ranged DPS. If you go out of their line of sight, you can't heal, and your team will wipe.
Forgetting buffs. Power Word: Fortitude and Inner Fire (for Priests) should always be active. Druids should cast Thorns on the tank before engaging.
Poor communication. Inform your teammates when you need to drink water. A simple OOM (out of mana) will make it clear.
That's most of what it takes to be a healer in WoW Classic Plus. This is just a simple analysis of this profound and fulfilling role, but hopefully this beginner's guide will point you in the right direction and help you avoid the mistakes I often see healers make.
