For leveling, that can make the ability more useful when dealing with tougher enemies or trying to finish a target quickly. In group content, the additional frequency may also affect how players plan their damage around Stormstrike.

The exact damage gain will still depend on weapon choice, character stats, and the rest of the talent setup. The patch notes establish the new ability values, but they do not provide a universal DPS increase for every build.

Maelstrom Weapon Has a Higher Chance to Trigger

Blizzard doubled the chance for Maelstrom Weapon to trigger.

That change is particularly relevant because Maelstrom Weapon connects Enhancement's melee attacks with its spellcasting. Mental Dexterity and Flurry Also Receive Buffs

Mental Dexterity now increases Attack Power by 50/100/150% of Intellect, up from 33/67/100%.

That makes Intellect more relevant to Enhancement's offensive setup. It does not mean players should automatically prioritize Intellect over every other stat, but it does make the talent's conversion more valuable than it was before.

Hunter's appeal is easy to understand. You fight from range, send your pet into combat, and use traps and tracking tools to manage situations that might otherwise become uncomfortable.

The Forever updates give Hunters more options without changing the class's central identity. Aimed Shot is now a baseline ability at level 20, Arcane Shot no longer shares its cooldown with Aimed Shot, and traps can be used during combat. Pets also benefit from Hunter gear scaling and gain access to more abilities, with individual pet families offering their own characteristics.

Forever's Warrior updates also revisit Rage generation, baseline abilities, and talent choices. Blizzard's goal is to give players more ways to shape the class without losing its recognizable weapon-focused identity.

For players who enjoy contributing to a group without being limited to one type of activity, Paladin is an interesting choice. You can build toward healing, tanking, or damage, although changing your role still involves making appropriate talent and equipment decisions.

The new Undead Paladin combination is another reason returning players may want to reconsider the class.

Druid: The Most Flexible Choice, With a Learning Curve

Druid stands out because of its ability to move between different combat roles.

Depending on your talents and equipment, you can tank, heal, fight in melee, or focus on ranged spellcasting. Shapeshifting is central to the experience, and Forever's updates make it more useful in everyday gameplay.

For example, Druids can use more consumables while shapeshifted, Nature's Grasp becomes a baseline ability, and Omen of Clarity is available to the entire class. Lacerate also joins the Feral toolkit, while Revive gives Druids an out-of-combat resurrection ability.

This flexibility comes with an important trade-off: having access to several roles does not mean one equipment setup works equally well for all of them. A Druid who wants to switch between tanking, healing, and damage will need to understand the requirements of each role.

Choose Druid if the idea of adapting your character to different situations appeals to you more than specializing in one narrow playstyle.

Shaman: Totems Are Still Central to the Experience

Shaman combines elemental magic, weapon abilities, healing, and Totems. Its three talent trees offer different ways to approach combat:

• Elemental focuses on ranged elemental damage.

• Enhancement develops melee combat and weapon abilities.

• Restoration focuses on healing and support.

Forever's changes make Totems more responsive. Longer durations, faster setup, Totem tracking, Call spells, Totemic Recall, and Totemic Projection reduce some of the repetitive management associated with the class.

However, Totems remain an important part of the Shaman identity. Players who enjoy positioning support abilities and making decisions around their placement may find the class especially rewarding. Those who prefer a simpler combat routine may find the additional management less appealing.

Shaman is also available to the new Skyborne race through the Horde-aligned Windshaper path, giving players another character option to consider.

Priest: Healing or Shadow Damage?

Priest is worth considering if you want a class with a strong connection to healing and group support, but it is not limited to that role.

Discipline and Holy provide different approaches to protection and healing, while Shadow offers a damage-focused path.

Forever expands the class's toolkit with changes to abilities such as Fear Ward, Devouring Plague, Divine Spirit, and Shadow Word: Death. Some important tools are now available more broadly across the class, rather than being restricted in the same way as before.

If you already have a race in mind, check its available class combinations before settling on a character. Some players will care most about abilities and roles; others may want a particular character fantasy or starting experience. Both are valid reasons to choose a main.

Leveling Costs and WoW Forever Gold: What Should Your First Character Prepare For?

Getting from level 1 to 60 involves more than gaining experience. Your character will need training, equipment, supplies, and enough money to handle the expenses that come with progression.

Some costs are easy to overlook when creating a first character:

• Class training and new abilities.

• Additional bag space.

• Weapon and armor upgrades.

• Repairs after difficult encounters.

• Ammunition and pet supplies for Hunters.

• Food, water, and other consumables.

• Profession materials and riding-related expenses when available.

Your class influences some of these costs, but it does not determine how wealthy you will become. Professions, gathering routes, server demand, playtime, and spending habits have a much greater influence on your overall economy.

If you are planning how to manage your WoW Forever Gold, keeping some money available for training and useful upgrades is more practical than spending everything as soon as it becomes available.

Which WoW Forever Class Should You Play First?

After comparing the nine classes, the decision becomes easier when you start with the kind of gameplay you want rather than searching for a universal winner.

There is also a good reason not to overthink the first choice. Forever's Legacy progression system gives players a way to continue developing additional characters, so your first main does not have to be the only character you ever play.

Blizzard has also confirmed that the launch is only the beginning of the game's roadmap, with new raids scheduled for December 9 and further PvP, dungeon, and world-content updates planned afterward.

Before creating your character, consider three things:
