WoW Midnight is finally here! If you've been following top streamers and raid players on social media these past few days, you've probably noticed that many of them have leveled multiple characters to 90 in just a few days.
This process might seem daunting at first glance, but with proper planning and strategic decisions, you can significantly shorten your leveling time while maximizing your reputation and early gear. So how do you level your alts quickly?
This guide will detail the most efficient leveling strategies currently available in World of Warcraft Midnight.
Overview
The new WoW Midnight level cap is 90. The journey from level 80 to 90 takes place in four revamped zones in Quel'Thalas, culminating in the long-awaited reconstruction of Silvermoon City. Silvermoon City has now been visually upgraded to a modern aesthetic.
The four zones contain 17 campaign chapters. If you complete the campaign systematically, you can reach level 90 using campaign experience alone. Participating in side quests too early will slightly slow down your leveling process.
For casual players, the average leveling time is approximately 10 hours and 39 minutes. Optimized leveling time can be reduced to 5 to 7 hours.
Leveling from 80 to 87
If your alt isn't yet level 90, the basics are simple: complete the main storyline. WoW Midnight's difficulty is carefully designed, allowing you to easily reach around level 87. It provides a large amount of experience and naturally guides you through the core systems of each area. Skipping the campaign too early will slow you down, as campaign quests remain the most efficient way to gain experience in the early game.
Once you reach level 87, you have three main options:
- 1. Side quests
- 2. Dungeons
- 3. Dungeon exploration
For most players, side quests are the best choice because they provide both experience and reputation. Reputation is crucial in the game as it directly affects early gear acquisition.
Reputation unlocks Champion Gear, which is stronger than Elite Sets obtained from Mythic 0 Dungeons.
Each zone increases Reputation of a specific faction. Completing a full quest chain across zones yields substantial account rewards. Each zone's Sojourner Achievement records the completion of the main storyline. Once a character completes an achievement, it becomes account-wide, meaning subsequent alts won't need to grind for it.
Reputation quests are usually clearly marked on the world map. Completing Sojourner Achievement with your main character significantly improves the efficiency of all subsequent alts. If done correctly, reaching level 90 can be achieved in approximately 5 to 5.5 hours, while also equipping all your characters with multiple pieces of 246-item-level gear.
Additionally, it's worth noting that alts can skip the lengthy tutorial after the main character completes it. This immediately saves approximately 40 minutes.
However, before skipping, if your character's gear is poor, such as 70-80 item level, consider upgrading their base gear through the auction house. A small investment of WoW Midnight gold can significantly speed up kills and make the questline smoother.
Leveling from 88 to 90
The final stage from level 88 to 90 is crucial for the effectiveness of advanced optimizations. During this phase, you can complete some one-time dungeon quests that reward 85,000 to 90,000 experience points. Take full advantage of the first craft bonuses from your profession.
One of Midnight's most powerful leveling tools is the first craft bonuses. Each profession provides a significant amount of experience when you craft an item for the first time. You can:
Learn a profession such as Blacksmithing or Leatherworking, craft multiple first craft items, then switch to another profession, and repeat the process.
On average, players cost 20,000 to 30,000 gold when switching professions. The bonus experience gained can exceed 575,000, sometimes even higher with stacked bonuses. This is equivalent to leveling up.
Stacking Experience Bonuses
To further boost leveling speed, you can stack the following experience bonuses:
Warband Bonuses
Each level 90 character provides a 5% experience bonus to your alts. This effect stacks.
Darkmoon Faire
Darkmoon Faire provides a 10% experience bonus. When activated, leveling speed will be significantly increased. Maximize the benefit by completing the final quest and crafting Professor items during the bonus period.
War Mode
Activating War Mode grants additional experience. While some players worry about the impact on PvP, many report rarely being ambushed while leveling. This bonus is worth the risk, especially during off-peak hours.
Stacking Warband Bonuses + Darkmoon Faire + War Mode can significantly boost leveling speed in the final sprint.
Dungeons now?
While running dungeons has always been a popular leveling strategy, the current Midnight update not only reduces dungeon experience but also causes frequent queues, slowing down your leveling efficiency.
The only truly essential dungeons to run are those related to high-value quest rewards. After completing these dungeons once, you can return to the optimized questline. However, for purely solo players, frequently running dungeons is not currently the optimal choice.
The above is a method for quickly leveling an alt to 90 in WoW Midnight. With proper planning, reaching level 90 in 6 hours is entirely feasible. More importantly, you will not only reach the level cap but also gain decent gear and a reputation boost. Hope this helps!
