With the latest WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic expansion, the developers have added a wealth of new content, including new gear, dungeons, raids, and mounts. In this story, all set on the continent of Pandaria, Flying Serpent Mount stands out as a unique addition.
Traditionally, you can obtain new mounts from Quartermaster’s inventory by increasing your reputation points with the various factions. But for Cloud Serpent Mount, this is just one small step in a long process.
To help you quickly acquire it, this guide details the remaining steps. It’s important to note that all NPCs you encounter in Arboretum during this process are neutral and can be interacted with by either Horde or Alliance characters. Additionally, these zones include an Inscription-related quest and a Zen Master Profession trainer.
Step 1: Enter Arboretum
First, we need to know the location of Cloud Serpent Mount. It’s located in Arboretum in Jade Forest, just east of Dawn’s Blossom. You can find this crucial location through the quest chain that initially led your faction to Pandaria.
Not only will you find the desired Cloud Serpent mount in Arboretum, but you’ll also find several high-level trainers who can help you advance your profession and vendors who can provide you with useful materials, all of which will have a significant impact on your subsequent exploration.
It’s important to note that before committing to farming a significant amount of faction reputation points for this mount, you should aim to reach level 90 and spend some WoW MoP Classic Gold to learn the flight ability, as relying on foot will require a significant amount of time and effort.
Once you’ve entered Arboretum, find and speak to Elder Henri in the large building on the eastern edge of the village. She’ll give you the Wild Things quest, which, once completed, will start a quest chain to increase your cult’s reputation.
Step 2: Raise Reputation
After completing Choosing The One quest in the reputation system, you’ll be able to accept daily quests to earn more reputation points. Essentially, Choosing The One quest is a simple multiple-choice question asking you to choose the color of your Cloud Serpent mount (yellow, blue, or green).
These colors do not affect subsequent exploration, but some players have reported that using a green mount makes it easier to hide in densely foliage areas, which negatively impacts combat with monsters that do not automatically lock on to you, making them easier to kill.
After selecting their color, the juvenile Cloud Serpent will reside in a small enclosure near the building where most quest givers reside. Please note that the special daily quests you complete will be assigned to you by this juvenile mount, but it may take several days for the corresponding quests to be available.
As it grows, other daily quests for increasing reputation remain available. Typically, you’ll receive over 20 daily quests per day, but only a few of them are from the mount. Therefore, the recommended approach is to interact with it first each day, and if there are no quests, complete other quests.
Step 3: Get Final Form
Once your character reaches Exalted in the reputation system, your reputation point grinding process ends, and Cloud Serpent reaches its final form. You can then obtain the mount’s final form directly from Quartermaster near the flight path.
Tips
If you want to speed up your progress toward obtaining this mount, it’s recommended to level up your profession and prepare some crafting materials in advance. For example, Fish Cakes are a crucial component of A Feast for the Senses quest in this reputation system.
So, after you arrive in Pandaria and receive this cooking recipe, focus on crafting five Fish Cakes to complete the quest. Advance your Fishing Profession and obtain Golden Carp in advance, as two are required to obtain one Fish Cake.
Additionally, after reaching Exalted, you can participate in Sky Race dailies in WoW MoP Classic, which are very similar to the speedruns required to obtain Netherdrake in the previous expansion, The Burning Crusade, but with a slightly lower difficulty level.
In Sky Race dailies, you compete against groups of real players instead of NPCs. You must traverse a series of checkpoints set high above the coast of Jade Forest. The fastest player earns 600 reputation points.
Other ranked players can earn rewards such as Valor Points, 5 Lesser Charms of Good Fortune, and a Winner’s Reward Bag, depending on their flight speed and time. Although you can’t use abilities that increase your movement speed in this race, you can choose some item options related to that attribute for your character and place them in it.
