Getting Started: unlocking early rewards  

First, if you've pre-registered for Dark December, congratulations! You've already unlocked some awesome early-game rewards. The most important of these is the Immortal Bond title, which provides an extra damage bonus and helps you progress faster in the early game.

The game doesn't tell you how to use this title, nor is it automatically equipped. So the sooner you discover its benefits and equip it, the sooner you can gain an advantage in the game.

You can find this title in the upper right corner of your character information screen. Click the icon next to the title to select equipment.

In addition, there's your pre-registered outfit! After playing for a while, you'll find it in your mailbox; don't forget to claim it.

These titles and outfits may seem like small cosmetic rewards, but they can help you quickly boost your damage, making early battles and quests in the game much easier.

Understanding equipment attributes

As you delve deeper into Dark December, you'll quickly encounter a wide variety of equipment. Understanding how these attributes work is crucial for optimizing your character build and leveling.

When you check your inventory, you'll see a bunch of numbers. Don't ignore these small numbers; they are the specific attribute values of the item.

Each item has several attributes, such as armor, dodge chance, spell damage, and so on. Some of these attributes are variable. That is, the attribute values of each piece of equipment may randomly appear within a certain range.

For example, on your legendary Cloth Shoes, you might see an attribute like "Armor: 5 (Range: 4-5)". This means the armor value of these shoes could randomly be between 4 and 5, and you got the optimal 5.

You can check the specific attribute data of each piece of equipment to help you compare the differences between old and new equipment and decide what to keep and what to discard.

If the attribute range of an item is relatively small and close to the maximum value, you can choose to keep it. The higher the attribute value of an item, the stronger it is, so try to choose powerful equipment that best suits your playstyle.

Disassembling

After playing in the game for a while, your inventory will be full of miscellaneous items, including many unusable junk items. Instead of selling them for gold, take them to the blacksmith to disassemble.

Disassembling will reward you with weapon fragments, armor fragments, and accessory fragments, depending on the type of equipment. These fragments are important; you can use them to buy equipment loot boxes.

These equipment boxes have a chance to yield equipment with better attributes than your early-game gear. It's best to wait until level 10 or higher to buy them and focus on acquiring Tier 2 equipment.

As your level increases, you will get better drops, and those fragments will become more valuable.

• Tip: Don't waste shards buying level 1 chests early on.

Main Quest Progression

Currently, Dark December only has three classes: Berserker, Raven, and Morgana; these are Warrior, Ranger, and Mage respectively.

Choose a class that suits your playstyle and then you can progress through the main storyline, which is key to your character's growth.

While exploring every corner and grinding is tempting, the main quest provides the most experience and better gear rewards.

It might feel a bit repetitive in the early game: go to a location, kill an enemy, and return. However, these story rewards are substantial and will help you unlock more exciting content faster.

When you enter a new area, remember to activate the local waypoint. Missing a waypoint at the beginning means you'll have to travel a long way to teleport back later, which is a waste of time.

Skills & Runes

Skills can be enhanced with runes. Runes are generally obtained randomly from kills as you progress through the story, and some are from pre-registration rewards. These runes can enhance specific attacks or mechanics. For example, damage-boosting runes can increase your skill's base attack power, while defensive runes might provide corresponding shields or damage reduction debuffs.

These runes have different attribute bonuses, some in damage, some in defense. Allocate these runes of different attributes to different color skills to create your unique build.

If you've played Diablo 4 or Path of Exile, you should easily understand this. Prioritize runes that increase your main damage or survivability, especially in the early game, as this will greatly help you progress through the main story.

Endgame content

After completing the main story, you'll encounter the endgame content, where you'll meet many powerful bosses. The game includes the following modes:

• Hall of Oblivion: This mode is essentially a boss battle where powerful bosses will appear, requiring you to fight them.
• Dimensional Rift: You can team up with friends for this mode, where waves of enemies will test your endurance and teamwork.
• Abyss of Chaos: This is like a dungeon where you can explore dungeons one after another to earn rewards.

In these modes, your gear, runes, and builds will truly come into play, so preparation is crucial.

While exploring dungeons, you'll not only receive loot rewards, but reaching certain milestones will also earn you Dark December Ruby, the game's premium currency. This can be used to exchange for more advanced gear, making endgame challenges easier.
