NBA 2K26 is the latest in the popular basketball video game NBA 2K series, and is expected to be officially released on September 5, 2025.
According to the current leaked information, NBA 2K26 may be released on platforms such as PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. In addition, because of the consensus reached between its developers and Nintendo, its latest new work will be released on the new generation of game consoles Switch 2.
According to the developer’s preview, NBA 2K26 still has four editions: Standard Edition, WNBA Edition, Superstar Edition, and Leave No Doubt Edition, all of which are now available for pre-order. Here are the differences between them.
Standard Edition is the most affordable of all the versions, priced at $69.99 on Switch 2, PC, PS4/5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, but $59.99 on the original Switch.
Oklahoma City Thunder’s outstanding point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is on the cover of this Standard Edition, as he won the regular season MVP, NBA Scoring Champ and Finals MVP in the 2024-25 season.
If you pre-order this version now, you will receive 10,000 in-game VC after entering the game, which can be used to obtain props and upgrades in various game modes.
Since 2K20, players’ enthusiasm for WNBA has become increasingly high. For this 2K26 WNBA version, the cover is Angel Reese, a forward from Chicago Sky who has won many awards, including the best member of the 2024 All-Rookie Team and WNBA All-Star.
It should be noted that you can only explore WNBA Edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it costs $69.99. But don’t worry, you can use the players and teams in WNBA even in the standard version.
The pre-order bonus for this version is also 10,000 in-game virtual currency, as well as the main game.
Compared to the previous two versions, Superstar Edition will cost a little more, priced at $99.99 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which means you can’t play this version on the previous generation of consoles and handhelds.
The cover of Superstar Edition is Carmelo Anthony, who played for New York Knicks. He became a member of Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame this year and has won three Olympic gold medals before, so he deserves to be a superstar.
When you pre-order, you get a week’s early access to the game, and in addition to 100,000 VC, you get a MyCareer content pack that includes 25 skill upgrades, 25 Gatorade upgrades, a two-hour double XP coin, and a jersey item for Gilgeous-Alexander.
And a MyTEAM content pack that includes the full Series 1 Team Selection, a Triple Threat Park Free Agent Pack, five Series 1 Packs, and another two-hour double XP coin.
This is the most content-rich of all NBA 2K26 editions, so it also costs the most: $149.99 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. On the cover of this edition is a combination of the first three editions: Gilgeous-Alexander, Reese, and Anthony.
When you pre-order it, in addition to Superstar Edition bonus you get, you also get an extra 35,000 VC, Season 1 Pro Pass, Summer Pass that can be used for Season 7–9 Pro Passes in 2026, a virtual Puffer Jacke that can be used in MyCareer mode, and Leave No Doubt Promo Pack for MyTeam mode, which will be released in December.
Compared to NBA 2K25, the skill-based gameplay in 2K26 has been greatly improved, and the challenge difficulty in some competitive modes has been increased. The builder in MyPLAYER will pay more attention to the player experience and return Cap Breakers.
MyTEAM will also bring Triple Threat Park back to the game content and launch more high-value rewards waiting for you to claim. MyCAREER will focus more on narrative and increase the impact of each of your choices on the attributes or statistics of the team and players.
This is your most important currency in the in-game MyTEAM mode, and can be used to obtain player card packs in Auction House, as well as other cosmetic items.
In NBA 2K26, VC stands for Virtual Currency, which is the main in-game currency of the NBA 2K series. Players use VC to progress and customize their experience across different game modes.
