In its January Update 1.13.0, Arc Raiders added Bird City, a mod specifically for Buried City map, which is currently gaining popularity among the community.
With the end of Cold Snap event, the snow covering Buried City has gradually melted, and flocks of birds are returning to nest in the city's rooftop chimneys.
According to the official announcement, these bird nests in the chimneys will yield many valuable items, including sellable trinkets, collectible Rubber Ducks, mushrooms, and various fruits, attracting many raiders eager to plunder the area.
Bird City is a new and exciting adventure. To help everyone quickly gather valuable resources, this guide will outline the locations and routes for obtaining bird nests and introduce the different types of Rubber Ducks. But first, let's understand some important points.
Important Notes
In this map, the rooftops of all buildings are connected by ziplines, allowing players to glide across or use Snap Hooks to quickly climb to rooftops with chimneys.
These techniques make it easy for players to scavenge throughout Bird City. However, this also presents a safety issue: players can easily reveal their location and line of sight while Zipline, making them vulnerable to detection by ARC robots patrolling overhead or by nearby players.
When approaching a bird nest, if you see flocks of birds hovering nearby, making too much noise while scavenging may startle them and cause them to make noise.
In addition, many inconspicuous bird traps are set on the city's ground and near chimneys. Therefore, you need to be very careful to successfully obtain loot from this city.
Bird Nest Locations
Based on the nesting habits of birds, we can focus on observing the chimneys on the rooftops of surrounding buildings. If you see a glittering bird nest, that's the place we need to investigate. Currently, most bird nests are concentrated in Italian-style buildings or old-style residential buildings, such as Town Hall Rooftops and Santa Maria Houses.
Nest Farming Routes
Bird City is only active for a specific period of time, once every 8 hours, and 3 times a day, so each time you can only experience it in the game for one hour. Therefore, to quickly gather abundant loot, we need to plan our exploration route carefully.
First, we know where shiny bird nests tend to appear in Arc Raiders. Next, we just need to land near the location we want to go to. Here are three routes for your reference and selection.
Route 1
Town Hall is a densely populated residential area with many chimneys on the rooftops, where many birds nest, making it very convenient for raiders to loot systematically. We can first land at Buried City spawn point, use a zipline or snap hook to reach the rooftops, and then begin a thorough looting. After completing the looting, don't forget to check the adjacent rooftops. Once all are checked, quickly evacuate with your loot.
Route 2
Santa Maria Houses are located south of Buried City. This is a popular location for Arc Raiders missions, offering a high probability of finding bird nests on chimneys. However, it also attracts many raiders, making it a competitive and dangerous area.
Once Bird City opens, quickly enter this residential area. Use Zipline to check every chimney, then take Zipline to Piazza Arbusto for looting. Be careful, as the area is crowded.
Finally, head to Plaza Rosa, another high-value looting location. After checking all the rooftops in this area, evacuate via South Train Station.
Route 3
There is a sparsely populated residential area marked on the map with low visitor traffic. Players can land in this area and begin looting rooftops with chimneys. This area is generally quiet and safe; just evacuate before ARC robots or other players arrive.
In short, we can conduct large-scale looting around these areas to maximize the acquisition of valuable items.
I need to remind everyone that the city's rooftops have an Italian style, so each building may have more than one chimney. We need to check very carefully while looting, as each one may contain a bird nest.
When you approach and open a bird nest, you'll be prompted that you can interact with it to loot the items hidden inside. If you can't enter the chimney to loot, or the bird nest is empty, you should evacuate. It's likely that other players have already looted it, or it was originally empty.
Rubber Ducks
One of the most popular features of this event is undoubtedly the addition of many Rubber Ducks. Different ducks have different rarity and value. To prevent you from missing out on catching rare ducks, I'll provide a detailed breakdown below:
- Common: Rubber Duck, valued at 1,000 Coins.
- Uncommon: Tropical Duck, Gentle Duck, and Alien Duck, each valued at 1,000 Coins.
- Rare: Doodly Duck and Flashy Duck, each valued at 3,000 Coins.
- Epic: Familiar Duck, valued at 7,000 Coins.
Therefore, if you catch a Rare or higher-level duck in Bird City, please protect it from being stolen, as it's very valuable. You can sell it at any time or add it to your item collection.
Overall, my experience with Arc Raiders event made me find Bird City map gameplay quite fun, but I wish there were more chimneys. Once I had a stroke of luck and looted a lot of valuable items, but more often than not, the chimneys were empty except for metal parts, or they had already been looted by other players. I hope the developers can expand the northern part of Buried City, so I'll have a chance to earn more coins.
