The latest ARC Raiders update dropped out of nowhere, and yeah - it's probably not the one you were waiting for.
Instead of getting any real news on the highly anticipated Flashpoint update, we got Patch 1.20.0. It's a smaller patch, sure, but it actually brings some pretty meaningful changes - especially if you're into PvP. Let's break it all down.
A Long-Awaited Nerf
Let's start with the big one: Il Toro finally got nerfed. If you've been playing for a while, you already know - this weapon has been dominating the meta for months. Cheap to craft, easy to use, and way too reliable in almost every situation.
According to the developers, this adjustment aims to reduce the weapon's overall effectiveness, particularly in sustained damage output and mid-range combat capabilities. The goal is to better match its rarity level and encourage players to rely more on upgrades and attachments rather than base stats.
Major changes to Il Toro:
- Pellet Damage reduced from 7.5 to 7
- Fire Rate reduced from 43 to 38
- Base Dispersion increased from 4.5 to 6
- Total Reload Time increased from 4.3 seconds to 5.7 seconds
These changes weaken Il Toro in several key ways. The reduced projectile damage slightly diminishes its lethality, while the reduced rate of fire limits its ability to fire rapidly in bursts. The increased bullet spread significantly reduces its reliability in combat beyond close range, further reinforcing its melee weapon role.
However, perhaps the most impactful adjustment is the reload time. The nearly 1.5-second increase is crucial in PvP, as every second counts. If you previously relied heavily on this weapon to dominate battles, you may now find yourself very vulnerable during reloads, especially against multiple opponents.
Implications for PvP Meta
Il Toro has consistently been a dominant weapon in PvP, favored for its ease of use, maneuverability, and stable performance. Its crafting cost is significantly lower than other weapons, and it requires fewer resources to upgrade, even being obtainable directly from Tian Wen, making it a top choice for many players.
With Il Toro taking a hit, PvP meta is definitely going to shift. One weapon to keep an eye on? Vulcano. It's always been strong, just held back by higher crafting costs and a bit more complexity. Now that Il Toro isn't overshadowing everything, Vulcano could easily start seeing more play.
Besides the weapon's inherent changes, this shift may also foreshadow a broader rebalancing of the weapon ecosystem in ARC Raiders. The developers have previously revealed their design intention: The more you invest into a weapon, the stronger it should feel, making players more excited about acquiring Rare and Epic ARC Raiders items rather than feeling it's mediocre.
However, this advantage is not absolute. For example, even if you're using a purple weapon, you might not be able to defeat someone with a green weapon; it also depends on your positioning relative to the enemy, your strategy, and many other factors.
That said, it's currently unknown whether Il Toro has been nerfed or significantly nerfed. Initial testing suggests its still useful in close-quarters combat, but you can clearly feel that its functionality has been weakened.
Economy Adjustments
Besides weapon balancing, you should also note that the price of Energy Clips has been reduced from 1000 to 200 coins. That's a massive drop. Previously, people were crafting them just to sell for profit, which kind of broke the in-game economy. This change shuts that down completely.
If you've been stockpiling them, well, that's rough. At this point, your options are simple: sell them (at a loss) or just keep and use them.
False Ban Wave Acknowledged
Another equally important development is that the developers have acknowledged a problem with false bans. Some players using assistive tools got incorrectly flagged by the anti-cheat system and banned.
The good news: They're investigating and Appeals are being reviewed. So if you were affected, definitely reach out to support - there's a good chance you'll get your account back.
Other Updates
This update also includes several important bug fixes and environmental adjustments:
- Fixed an issue where players could be pushed through walls in controlled access zones
- Resolved collision problems near the east elevator and underpass pipes on Spaceport map
- Addressed persistent audio bugs related to destroyed comets and fireballs
In terms of appearance, this update introduces Rawde Outfit and two new haircuts. Now, you can sport a slightly messy, Brad Pitt-like hairstyle in the game.
Where Is Flashpoint Update?
Yeah, this is the question everyone's asking. After this patch release, the biggest question is perhaps what it means for the upcoming Flashpoint update. Based on past release patterns, major updates are usually released on the last Tuesday of each month.
It's currently speculated that the official release date is March 24th, meaning you only need to wait a week to start exploring the new content. However, given that there are a whopping five Tuesdays this month, it could also be released on March 31st. So for now, we wait.
That concludes the contents of ARC Raiders Patch 1.20.0. While it's not the major content update, many players have been anticipating, it plays a crucial role in optimizing game balance and stability. With the Flashpoint update approaching, even more new content awaits players in the coming weeks. Let's look forward to it!
