ARC Raiders, a game that gained immense popularity upon release, achieved an astonishing peak in daily concurrent players on Steam. However, due to rampant cheating, erroneous account bans by Anti-Cheat system, and a tedious late-game storyline, this peak has gradually declined.

In response to this feedback, Embark has finally addressed the issues and proposed a targeted solution - Patch 1.29.0 was officially released on May 19th. The new content includes the arrival of a new nomadic tribe, the much-anticipated new anti-cheat system, and new weapons, among other things.

Does bringing in new members signal a fresh storyline? Will the new Anti-Cheat system and weapons prove genuinely effective? Following the first wave of excitement, players are once more gripped by uncertainty. This article will address these concerns from the following three perspectives:

  • Nomadic Trader
  • New Anti-Cheat System
  • New Weapon and Equipment Adjustments
  • Balance AdjustmentsARC Raiders Patch 1.29.0: A 100% Update - Can It Solve the Game's Predicament with a Nomadic Trader, New Anti-Cheat System and New Weapon?

Nomadic Trader

This is arguably one of the most significant highlights of this ARC Raiders update: a Nomadic trader named Ermal has officially arrived in Speranza. Ermal belongs to the previously rumored Nomadic Envoys. These mysterious nomads, long hidden underground, have now emerged to seek valuable equipment and weapons, offering exclusive trades not found elsewhere.

Unlike ordinary resource merchants in the game, Ermal does not accept regular currency. Instead, players must barter for high-value ARC materials (such as Queen Reactor, Battery, and Assessor Matrix) and rare weapons. Furthermore, trading with Ermal requires you to be level 25.

The rewards available for redemption in Embark are as follows:

Expanded Storage Space - Resets after Expedition ends.

Expedition Vault Access - Securely store up to 5 of your most valuable items and retrieve them after Expedition ends.

Weekly rotating cosmetic skins, ARC Raiders Blueprints, Raider Tokens, and items required for the current ARC Raiders project.

It's worth noting that Embark specifically stated that only a single storage expansion and 5 Expedition Vault slots will be available during the first week after the update. This is to gather player feedback and data to adjust trading prices before adding more slots later. Weekly items missed during the weekly reset will reappear in future rotations.

This is a positive indication, showing that Embark is finally abandoning its prior habit of releasing large volumes of content only to hurriedly patch issues afterward. The current updates show a more cautious approach, which is a very positive start for players.

New Anti-Cheat System

Besides the trading system, as widely reported by media outlets, patch 1.29.0 also takes a significant step forward in security: Denuvo Anti-Cheat has officially been added to ARC Raiders.

Embark announced, "After its successful implementation in THE FINALS, Denuvo Anti-Cheat will begin rolling out to ARC Raiders on May 19th, first to a restricted group of players, with intentions to broaden its reach following thorough observation." Two key points were specifically clarified:

1. No Denuvo DRM Service Used

This means ARC Raiders will not be introduced to the controversial digital rights management technology. This system is unrelated to Denuvo module in other games, which has been criticized for performance issues.

This demonstrates ARC Raiders' commitment to its reputation, a wise move that respects copyright and protects its own image while genuinely addressing player concerns.

2. Commitment to Minimizing Performance Impact

The development team stated that they are optimizing the system to ensure it does not impact game frame rate or stability.

It's worth noting that Denuvo Anti-Cheat is a kernel-level anti-cheat system designed to detect and block third-party cheat software.

According to multiple media outlets, the cheating problem on PC has reached a serious level, and the positive feedback from Denuvo in THE FINALS has given Embark confidence to introduce the system to ARC Raiders. Therefore, we can indeed look forward to a fairer and more harmonious gaming environment in the future.

New Weapon and Equipment Adjustments

A good gaming environment is inseparable from skill; skilled players are better able to deal with ARC units in ARC Raiders matches.

A new weapon, Rescal, handcrafted by the genius craftsman Tian Wen, is a lightweight grenade launcher specifically designed to counter the armored ARC threat.

Rascal is positioned as a lightweight alternative to Hullcracker. According to the official description, it is lightweight, compact, and easy to carry. Although its reload time is slow and its aiming can be a bit erratic, Rascal remains a dependable hand-held weapon for players who need to counter ARC fire without shouldering the cumbersome weight of Hullcracker.

Crafting Rascal requires one Rascal Blueprint, 2 Advanced Mechanical Components, 3 Heavy Gun Parts, and 5 Canisters.

Rascal Blueprint is randomly distributed in loot containers throughout Topside, with the most reliable source being Raider Caches, especially in Hurricane map. It also has a chance to drop from Security Breach Lockers and Weapon Crates.

This is crucial for enhancing player strength. As is well known, armored ARCs are one of the most troublesome threats in a match; their armor is extremely high, and they can only be countered with targeted weapons that can penetrate armor. Rascal provides an extra layer of security for players' looting.

In addition, ARC Raiders also made adjustments to other existing weapons and systems in patch 1.29.0.

  • Photoelectric Cloak: Energy cost reduced from 10/s to 5/s, meaning the usage time of Photoelectric Cloak is now twice as long.
  • Tactical Mk. 3 (Healing) Augment: Cloud of Renewal effect updated to AoE Over Time, healing effect increased from 20 to 45, cooldown increased from 30 seconds to 45 seconds.
  • Combat Mk.3 (Flanking) Augment: Shield capacity adjusted, now can accommodate medium shields.
  • Bettina: Base rate of fire increased from 235 to 250.

In addition, weapon durability has been reverted. Currently, 8 ARC Raiders weapons have received durability increases in this update. It's easy to see that this is a direct response to the issue of excessively rapid wear and tear on non-common and rare quality weapons, which was widely reported by the community.

Embark explicitly stated that this is a targeted adjustment for the most problematic weapons, and they will continue to monitor and further optimize it. This suggests that more high-quality weapons may receive durability increases in the future.

Balance Adjustments

The three updates mentioned above are almost entirely buffs for players, addressing the most frequently raised issues by the community. This Embark update has indeed surprised players, as ARC Raiders patch 1.29.0 also includes some detailed adjustments to the player experience.

  • ARC AI Improvements: Increased visual accuracy of ARC through bushes and smoke. Raiders near the edge of cover are easier to spot, while those deep in dense vegetation or smoke are harder to detect.
  • Improved ARC Sound Perception: More sensitive in open outdoor spaces, but less sensitive in indoor environments and to sounds penetrating terrain.
  • Firefly Optimizations: Fire effects are more consistent with visual presentation. The penalty for brief contact with fire is reduced, lessening the discomfort of being hit by fire around corners.
  • Rocketeer Nerf: When Rocketeer fires multiple missiles simultaneously, the missiles will be more evenly distributed over a larger area, preventing the unfair situation of multiple missiles hitting the same location simultaneously.
  • Queen & Matriarch Behavior Optimization: Queen and Matriarch ARC units will now more often cross obstacles rather than traverse terrain, effectively reducing the number of times players are unfairly knocked back due to clipping collisions.

All in all, these updates and adjustments not only address persistent technical issues - one Reddit user even praised this update as a 100% positive patch - but also represent a satisfying response from Embark to the player community.

This further highlights ARC Raiders' strong ability to self-correct and innovate; if it continues with this approach and momentum, its future appears promising.
