May 09, 2026 Author: EZG

Riven Tides update brings a wealth of content to ARC Raiders, with Beachcombing map condition being particularly noteworthy, rewarding meticulous and attentive players. Alongside this map condition is Dockmaster's Detector, essentially a metal detector.

Its sole purpose is to find buried treasure on the new Riven Tides map. Use Dockmaster's Detector to search the sand along the coastline for hidden treasures. Sometimes you'll find gun parts, sometimes you'll trigger explosions. This article will guide you through how to utilize Dockmaster's Detector to find loot in Beachcombing map condition.ARC Raiders Riven Tides: Beachcombing Map Condition Guide - Master Dockmaster's Detector for Maximum Loot

About Beachcombing map condition

Here's everything you need to fully utilize Beachcombing map condition:

Beachcombing map condition is a unique mini-map condition exclusive to Riven Tides map, added to the game as part of Riven Tides update. Generally, map conditions in ARC Raiders rotate hourly, cyclically appearing various Major and Minor variants on the map.

Therefore, Beachcombing isn't always available. You must check the matchmaking screen before queuing; if not, your Dockmaster's Detector will be useless.

The map changes don't fundamentally alter the core gameplay. They add three specific changes to Riven Tides map:

Buried Valuables scattered across the sand.

Lootable Detectors available in containers across the map.

Increased bird population, which can alert ARC enemies and other players if disturbed.

The increased bird population deserves special mention, as it's directly related to Avian Alarm project running concurrently with this update. Simultaneously, disturbing a flock of birds will broadcast your location to everyone nearby.

Dockmaster's Detector work

Dockmaster's Detector is a utility item, meaning you must put away your weapon to use it. Note that while the open beach area holds the richest loot, it also leaves you completely exposed to enemy fire. Scanning with the detector hidden in enemy rooms makes you vulnerable to being killed. Therefore, you should only loot items when you are absolutely safe.

This is the first and most important thing you must know before you begin exploring the coastline. Here is the complete process summarized based on relevant testing:

  • In Beachcombing map condition, head to the beach area in the north of ARC Raiders Riven Tides map.
  • Equip Dockmaster's Detector and activate it. If there is no response, move to another area of the beach.
  • Hold down the use button to keep it running. The detector will flash yellow when there is loot nearby, and the flashing speed will increase as you get closer.
  • When you are directly above a buried item, the indicator light will turn green, and a Dig interaction prompt will appear.
  • Trigger digging to unearth the buried item.

As long as you have the detector and it remains active in Beachcombing map condition, you can repeat this process. Areas that other players have already dug will show empty containers, so you can skip these areas and continue.

Where to find Dockmaster's Detector?

Dockmaster's Detector only appears under Beachcombing map condition. Outside of this condition, you cannot find it. You currently have three reliable ways to obtain it, as follows:

Pick up Shoring Up Defenses quest from Apollo. This is the fastest path. The second way is to accept the quest in Speranza; Apollo will simply give you a Dockmaster's Detector. You don't even need to complete anything. Walk over, grab the quest, and walk out with a free metal detector. This was easily the cleanest unlock for me.

Complete the first stage of Avian Alarm Project. Set up a birdcage near the buoy in Riven Tides to obtain the detector as a reward. According to relevant information, this is a guaranteed method to obtain the detector on the first try, and it's very simple.

In Beachcombing map condition, find Loot containers. Dockmaster's Detector will drop as a regular random item in containers throughout the map. It doesn't have a fixed spawn point, so drops depend entirely on the random number generator, but the drop rate seems quite high.

According to reliable sources, red lockers are a reliable way to find detectors inside containers. You can easily collect six or seven in a single game without much effort.

If you die and lose a detector while running, don't worry, just scavenge more containers, and you'll easily find new Dockmaster's Detector.

Other items you might dig up

Items buried on the beach fall into two categories: useful and dangerous. Not everything you find will be useful; some might even harm you. This uncertainty is part of the fun of the game. You might find the following ARC Raiders Items:

  • Buried suitcase with gun parts - Good loot
  • Buried suitcase with valuablesv - Good loot, includes Miniature Voyages ship models
  • Ammunition containers - Good loot
  • Quick-use item containers - Good loot
  • ARC Tick - Hazard, attacks the player immediately
  • Live mine - Hazard, detonates on digging

This concludes the information about Dockmaster's Detector in this article. It's a key item for Beachcombing and an excellent way to obtain resources and event items, but the search process will expose you to the open beach. Please be extremely careful, and we look forward to your good luck.
