Among the many class builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 14, Blade Assassin has long been considered an unpopular choice, but its actual combat capabilities have not been fully explored.
This physical melee build, centered on Blade Fury and Blade Sentinel, while not as efficient at clearing areas as the mainstream Sorceress or Paladin, offers players a unique gameplay experience and stable performance against Hell difficult Elite monsters, providing a fresh experience distinct from traditional Trap Assassin.
Attributes
Attribute allocation follows the general principles for physical classes: Strength is only increased to meet all gear requirements, with the remaining attribute points allocated to Vitality.
For example, Diablo 2 Resurrected Death Runewords with Berserker Axe base requires 138 Strength. With gear like Guillaume's Face and Flesh Knight, no additional Dexterity is needed.
Stacking Vitality significantly increases total Life, which, combined with Physical Damage Reduced attribute of String of Ears, helps maintain survival in Hell difficult scenarios with multiple projectiles.
Energy is not invested in at all. Mana requirements are met through Phoenix's Redemption and Call to Arms' Battle Orders.
Skill Configuration
Shadow Disciplines: Invest a single point to unlock prerequisites for various skills, including Claw Mastery, Weapon Block, Fade, Venom, and Shadow Warrior.
Venom should be prioritized for maxing out, its 0.4-second poison damage, amplified by the blade mechanic, can deal considerable additional damage to non-Poison Immune monsters. Do not invest points in Shadow Mastery, as it interferes with Blade Fury's aiming detection.
Trap Skill Tree: Invest points sequentially along the left side of the skill tree, unlocking Fire Blast, Shock Web, Charged Bolt Sentry, Lightning Sentry, and Death Sentry. Blade Fury and Blade Sentinel are core damage-dealing skills, requiring a maximum of 20 points.
Blade Sentinel is suitable for narrow passages or areas with dense monster populations, its spinning blade can hit enemies multiple times, aiding in clearing areas.
Blade Fury is the primary single-target skill. While Death Sentry only requires 1 point, its Corpse Explosion range and physical damage combined with high Crushing Blow effectively clear corpses and chain attacks.
Equipment Recommendation
The main hand weapon should be Diablo 2 Resurrected Death Runewords, with Berserker Axe as the base. Death Rune provides high Crushing Blow (up to 50%) and Deadly Strike bonuses, combined with other equipment, Crushing Blow probability can reach 100%.
The alternative is Doom Berserker Axe, whose Holy Freeze reduces the movement speed of nearby enemies and increases Blade Fury hit rate, but its overall damage output upon death is superior.
The shield slot uses Phoenix, whose 350% to 400% Enhanced Damage directly benefits Blade Fury, while Redemption addresses sustain issues.
The off-hand equipment consists of Spirit Shield and Call to Arms, the latter providing Battle Command and Battle Orders skills. Ideally, Battle Orders should be at level 6.
The helmet is always Guillaume's Face, providing 35% Crushing Blow, 15% Deadly Strike, and 30% Faster Hit Recovery. The gloves use Laying of Hands, whose 20% increased attack speed and 350% damage to demons are extremely beneficial in Hell difficult environments with predominantly demonic monsters.
The boots chosen are Flesh Rider boots, offering 15% Crushing Blow, 15% Deadly Strike, and 30% Faster Run/Walk for greater mobility. The belt equipped with a String of Ears provides 15% Physical Damage Reduced and Life Leech, crucial for maintaining health.
The amulet and one ring form Angelic Raiment, significantly increasing Attack Rating and compensating for a common weakness in physical classes. The other ring is Raven Frost, whose Cannot Be Frozen attribute ensures Blade Fury is unaffected by slows.
All equipment sockets should prioritize gems that increase Fire, Lightning, and Cold Resistances. While Fade provides over 60% All Resistance when activated, Resistances are typically negative when deactivated.
The inventory should contain a large charm that increases Shadow Training or Trap skill levels, with Charm that increases Venom level enhancing off-hand damage. Sufficient space must be reserved for small amulets related to Life, Resistances, and Accuracy.
Practical Performance and Optimization Directions
At the start of combat, switch to your off-hand to cast Battle Orders and Battle Command, then switch back to your main hand. Against groups of normal monsters, first use Blade Sentinel to clear linear areas, then use Blade Fury to pick off elite monsters. Death Sentry should be deployed immediately after a monster dies, utilizing Corpse Explosion to create area damage.
Pay special attention to the casting animation delay of Blade Fury: you cannot move or cancel during the skill animation, incorrect clicks may cause your character to freeze in place. Plan your casting position in advance to escape encirclement.
With the current setup, Attack Rating is still insufficient, occasionally missing against Hell difficulty Uber Diablo or Baal. While the dual-angel ring setup can further improve accuracy, it will sacrifice Raven Frost's Cannot Be Frozen attribute.
This build excels at killing single targets quickly, but struggles against large groups of low-health monsters. Equipping Merchant with Infinity Runes Word could indirectly improve hit chance. Alternatively, Pride Runes Word could be used to increase physical damage.
Another approach is to increase Faster Cast Rate to a higher tier to shorten Battle Orders' cast time of the off-hand Call to Arms, but this is less prioritized than Attack Rating adjustments due to equipment affixes.
Blade Assassin build in Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 14 is a physical damage build centered around Crushing Blow and Deadly Strike, relying on Death and Phoenix Runes Words. By optimizing Attack Rating and Merchant configurations, it can demonstrate tactical value in PvP.
