More importantly, when viewed collectively, these proposed changes do not form a coherent design for a major content update.

Act 6

The current three-difficulty structure of D2 Resurrected - Normal, Nightmare, and Hell - is built upon the existing five-act progression.

Adding an Act 6 would have far-reaching consequences, affecting campaign progression, leveling routes, monster levels, quest pacing, and endgame farming efficiency.

If the monster levels in the new area exceed those of Act 5, the established farming maps and XP routes for Hell difficulty would likely need to be completely overhauled.

Character levels and gear progression curves upon entering the next difficulty tier would also need to be re-evaluated for Normal and Nightmare modes.

Blessed Hammer

Rumors suggest that the hammer would travel in a straight line for a distance before entering its signature spinning trajectory. Implementing this would require rewriting the skill's fundamental mechanics.

Hammerdin is one of Diablo 2's most established and iconic builds. Its damage type, casting rhythm, and the hammer's unique movement pattern have long defined its gameplay.

Even if Blizzard intended to further tweak Paladin, a more feasible approach would be to adjust damage, synergies, mana costs, or the casting experience.

Completely reworking the projectile's trajectory would affect positioning, hit mechanics, map adaptability, and PvP. This goes beyond standard skill balancing; it amounts to altering the skill's underlying operational logic. 

Druid Changes

Current rumors suggest that Werewolf Form will allow Teleporting; Hurricane will continuously cast Twister while active; using Tornado will grant Hurricane Lightning Damage; and Summon Grizzly will gain 80% Crushing Blow.

Taken in isolation, any single one of these might be viewed as a bold buff. However, when viewed together, the design philosophy clearly leans toward "skills triggering other skills" and "conditional synergies between skills."

Combinations like Hurricane + Twister or Hurricane + Tornado essentially require the game engine to check if one skill is active and then alter the effects of another.

While D2 Resurrected skill trees feature synergies, the core mechanic relies on spending skill points to boost raw stats; complex combos driven by real-time status effects are rare.

This is a key reason I feel this approach aligns more closely with modern ARPG design. The 80% Crushing Blow on Summon Grizzly, in particular - a stat that effectively functions as a constant proc - further undermines the credibility of these rumored changes.

Enigma

Removing +2 To All Skills seems drastic; many builds would suffer a direct loss in damage, summon strength, or skill levels. Yet, the attribute that truly defines Enigma's status has always been Teleport.

As long as Teleport remains, Hammerdins, Summon Necromancers, Wind Druids, and countless MF builds will continue to rely on the mobility Enigma provides. While losing two skill levels certainly weakens the item, it is unlikely to change its priority status in many character builds.

This creates an awkward situation regarding the nerf: the cost is significant, yet the landscape of essential gear may not shift much. Most characters currently using Enigma will probably continue to do so - simply accepting the loss of two skill levels.

Even stranger, the same set of rumors suddenly singles out Famine runeword.

If Blizzard were planning a systematic overhaul of runewords, one would expect to see a clear theme - such as rebalancing high-rune values, buffing underused melee gear, or toning down a few dominant Diablo 2 Resurrected items.

There is no apparent logical connection between singling out Enigma and Famine in this way.

Scabbard

The rumored new Scabbard equipment slot should not be viewed merely as the addition of a standard new item. 

Adding a class-exclusive equipment slot to the character interface would require Blizzard to consider UI design, drop mechanics, affix pools, class restrictions, inventory interactions, and overall character power balance.

Furthermore, new seasons would require a steady stream of gear for this slot, effectively necessitating the creation of an entire ecosystem of drops and class-specific D2 Resurrected items.

It is not as if D2R has been completely dormant. One specific indicator is the update of Vendor Version from 3.3.93 to 3.3.94; however, this is a very minor version increment.

Blizzard is indeed still paying attention to D2R, and the game has a presence at BlizzCon. However, there is a vast gap between minor backend tweaks and the introduction of Act 6 combined with an entirely new gear system.

Until an official announcement is made, it is far more reasonable to anticipate a solid balance and content update than to assume Act 6 is already on the way.

For efficient mob clearing, large-scale mob clearing, and late-game progression, Poison Nova Necromancer still excels. For players who prioritize direct damage and quickly defeating bosses, other builds like Bone Necromancer might offer a better gaming experience.

With the release of Diablo 2 Resurrected Ladder Season 14, Heralds of Terror and Sunder Charm spawn mechanics underwent their biggest overhaul. To understand whether these changes truly met player expectations, EZG conducted extensive research.

The results show that most players believe the new Herald mechanic is significantly better than the old one, but differing opinions remain within the community regarding the quality of Herald rewards and Sunder Charm drop mechanism.

Heralds of Terror

New Mechanism

Previously, you needed to search and kill elite monsters throughout the map. Each kill only had approximately a 2% chance of spawning a Herald. Sometimes you would encounter situations where you cleared Act I and Act II without encountering a single Herald.

Furthermore, because Heralds were previously the only way to obtain Sunder Charms, and the drop rate of Sunder Charms was extremely low. Therefore, you might play for hours only to find you can't find Sunder Charm, which is a really frustrating experience.

So, D2R made changes. After Ladder Season 14 went live, the spawn rate of Heralds of Terror is based on the percentage of an area you clear.
