The top speed leaderboard in Forza Horizon 6 quickly became a central topic of discussion within the player community after the game's release. Unlike Lap Time or overall performance tests, pure top speed competition relies more heavily on a vehicle's powertrain, aerodynamic tuning, and the ultimate tuning of its transmission.
Players can significantly alter a vehicle's top speed by adjusting gear ratios, new tuning schemes can surpass weight reduction schemes, and engine turbo configurations in the future.
Below is a ranking of the top five fastest vehicles based on open-world testing, with two models tied for fifth place.
Top 5 Fastest Cars in FH 6
- 1st Place: Forza Horizon 6 Sprinter Trueno GT Apex Forza Edition
- 2nd Place: Nissan GT-R Black Edition (R35) Forza Edition
- 3rd Place: Hennessey Venom F5
- 4th Place: Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition
- 5th Place: Lotus Evija and #3 917 LH Forza Edition

Testing Method
Determining vehicle top speeds in Forza Horizon 6 requires distinguishing between the open world and the dedicated EventLab environment.
This test used an open highway to verify the achievable speeds of vehicles in a real-world game environment, rather than an idealized closed track.
However, various factors in this environment contribute to the temporary nature of Forza Horizon 6's top speed rankings. As the player community delves deeper into the tuning system, the rankings of each car may transform.
Performance Tier
Tie 5th: Lotus Evija and #3 917 LH Forza Edition
Both models achieved a tested top speed of 294 mph in the open world. Lotus Evija, originally geared towards drifting, benefited from its lightweight design thanks to modified steering speed settings.
#3 917 LH Forza Edition used a custom-tuned setup, finalized during the game's testing phase. Notably, both models achieved identical top speeds and belong to the Forza Edition series, indicating that this series is given performance potential exceeding that of the standard version in FH 6.
#3 917 LH Forza Edition required a long straightaway to reach its peak speed during testing, while Lotus's acceleration curve was flatter, but both ultimately achieved the same reading.
Fourth Place: Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition
This model has a top speed of 295-296 mph. A reading of 296 mph was briefly displayed during testing, but only with a perfect acceleration path.
Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition was originally tuned for drag racing, with gearbox gear ratios favoring initial acceleration over top speed extension. However, further optimization allowed it to still rank in the top five.
Testers noted that the car is extremely sensitive to road smoothness, experiencing a sudden drop in speed when encountering even minor bumps. For example, during testing, the speed dropped from nearly 300 mph to 195 mph instantly when traversing an unidentified bump.
This phenomenon is not uncommon in the open world of Forza Horizon 6, reflecting the game's physics engine's sophisticated simulation of the suspension system's interaction with the road surface.
Tradition and Innovation
Third Place: Hennessey Venom F5
Actual top speed is approximately 305-306 mph. This car was the runner-up in top speed in Forza Horizon 5, but only ranked third in Forza Horizon 6.
During testing, it encountered frequent traffic jams and cornering challenges, ultimately achieving a reading of 305 mph, briefly flashing a value of 306 mph.
Hennessey Venom F5, a real-world supercar claimed to exceed 300 mph, didn't completely outperform the modified Forza Edition in the game, demonstrating that Forza Horizon 6's tuning system allows classic or civilian models to achieve performance gains through engine swaps and drivetrain conversions.
Second Place: Nissan GT-R Black Edition (R35) Forza Edition
Also reaching a top speed of 305-306 mph, but the testers clearly determined it to be faster than Venom F5. Originally designed for Drag Racing, this car boasts the fastest quarter-mile time in the game, and its AWD system provides superior stability compared to rear-wheel-drive vehicles at high speeds.
The test required avoiding specific road bumps; for example, in one attempt, the speed suddenly dropped to 195 mph after reaching 300 mph, forcing a detour before finally reaching 306 mph.
It's worth noting that the car exhibited an anomaly during acceleration, with the speed reading initially rising and then suddenly dropping, possibly related to collision detection at specific coordinates in the game code.
Despite these technical issues, Nissan GT-R Black Edition (R35) Forza Edition remains a reliable choice for the second-fastest car in FH 6, second only to the champion.
First Place: AE86 Forza Edition
Forza Horizon 6 Sprinter Trueno GT Apex Forza Edition (i.e., AE86 Forza Edition) boasts a top speed of 322 to 324 mph, making it the fastest in-game production car in Forza Horizon 6.
This result completely overturned conventional wisdom: an 1980s economy car with less than 100 horsepower in its original configuration could outperform a Hennessey Venom F5 and a Koenigsegg Jesko after extreme modifications.
It was obtained by accumulating 5,000 bonus points in Discover Japan collection log, unlocked through in-game content.
The tuning scheme was key to achieving this speed. First, a 2JZ engine transplant was required, changing the drivetrain to AWD and installing a single turbocharger, specifically an antilag Race Turbo instead of a standard Race Turbo.
The body kit required removing the original aerodynamic components and replacing them with a Toyota body kit, while obliterating the rear wing to reduce drag. By equipping rally springs and dampers on the suspension, the weight was reduced to 856 kg.
Specific slick tires were used, along with the lightest 18 kg wheels, and track width was increased front and rear. The transmission remained at its factory settings, but the gear ratios were adjusted to extreme values, with the test interface showing a theoretical top speed of 323.4 mph.
In actual testing, despite wet roads and heavy traffic, the car easily reached 321 mph, and recorded 322.76 mph in a relatively smooth run.
During acceleration, the car's handling was extremely poor, drifting even in straight lines, but its exaggerated power-to-weight ratio allowed it to quickly reach top speed.
It is foreseeable that this car will face performance nerfs in future updates, as in the current version of FH 6, an AE86 exceeding 320 mph is clearly out of balance.
Forza Horizon 6 top speed charts demonstrate the complete dominance of Forza Edition models over traditional supercars, especially AE86, which, through engine swaps and lightweight modifications, becomes an extreme example.
These figures reflect the depth and freedom of the game's tuning system, but their instability also suggests that players should pay attention to future updates.
