GTA 6 Robbery System Explained: Leaks, Gameplay Details and Trailer 3 Expectations

Explore the revolutionary GTA 6 Robbery System based on latest gameplay leaks. Learn how dynamic NPC AI, buddy mechanics, and the revamped Wanted system redefine Robbery ahead of Trailer 3.

Jun 17, 2026 Author: EZG

Recently, Take-Two's CEO reaffirmed in a street interview that GTA 6 is slated for release on November 19, 2026, and the development team is working tirelessly to create this unprecedented title.

Many players, deeply troubled by delay rumors, breathed a sigh of relief upon receiving this confirmation. With five months until the official release, the most anticipated events are the release of Trailer 3 and the start of the summer marketing campaign.

So, is waiting all we can do? Of course not. From the two previous trailers, leaked gameplay footage and images, and industry insider information, we can try to piece together a vague impression of certain aspects of GTA 6.

For example, through observation and comparison, we discovered a very interesting game feature: GTA 6's Robbery System.

GTA 6 Robbery System Explained: Leaks, Gameplay Details and Trailer 3 Expectations

Robbery System

From an overall perspective, GTA 6's Robbery System completely departs from GTA 5's purely scripted, linear model focused solely on spending money, evolving into a highly dynamic, multi-stage, and more strategy and consequence-oriented sandbox crime system.

This also reflects what GTA 6 has long been speculated to be: a more diverse, realistic, and free open world.

Below, I will explain this innovative Robbery System from four aspects:

  1. Buddy System
  2. Crowd Control
  3. Environmental Interaction and Equipment
  4. Wanted System

1. Buddy System

In official GTA 6 leaks, Jason and Lucia no longer operate separately during store or bank robberies, instead they work as a team and cooperate with each other. Typically, one person is responsible for looting the cash register or safe, while the other controls the entire scene.

Furthermore, to better cooperate with their AI companion, you can issue real-time commands via buttons, such as keeping an eye on hostages, looting a specific area, or preparing to retreat.

2. Crowd Control

In addition to your upgraded AI companion, all hostage NPCs at the robbery scene have independent dynamic AI tags. This means they are no longer subject to uniform reaction control, but instead exhibit various random reactions and behaviors.

Some NPCs will obey and hide their faces, others will panic and shout, while a few may attempt to resist in secret or alert the authorities.

To counter these situations, Robbery System features a physical restraint mechanic designed to help secure the heist. Players can use zip ties to restrain NPC hostages who try to resist or contact the police.

3. Environmental Interaction and Equipment

GTA 6 also introduces Eagle Eye System, similar to Dead Eye in Red Dead Redemption. This allows players to scan shops outside of combat, marking locations with high-value jewelry, hidden safes, and cameras - a powerful tool for heists.

Secondly, stolen cash and valuables won't disappear or appear in your pockets; instead, they'll be transferred to your character's Duffel Bag. For greater realism, GTA 6 also addresses the physical limitations of large or heavy stolen goods, as these items take up more storage space and can affect movement speed when overweight.

As for the gold, jewelry, or equipment you steal, Robbery System won't directly convert them into GTA 6 Money. You'll need to launder and convert them into cash through Leonidas's underground black market, pawn shops, or specific channels after escaping police capture.

4. Wanted System

But will escaping capture this time be as easy as before?

GTA 6's Robbery System redefines Wanted System. Police no longer spawn randomly on street corners; they only arrive from the police station when an NPC successfully calls the police or triggers the alarm during a store robbery. This gives players a valuable window of opportunity to escape.

If your wanted level reaches two stars, the arrest process changes. When you're caught, the police won't immediately open fire; instead, they'll surround the robbery location and confront you.

At this point, you have three options: surrender and be arrested; fight back with gunfire, potentially causing more casualties; or you can take hostages to negotiate and gain more favorable terms.

By the way, the weapon system has also been adjusted in GTA 6. You can only carry a maximum of two weapons at a time, so if you choose to fight back, remember to check your ammunition reserves.

Wanted System primarily enhances the capabilities of Police AI. Police will update the appearance, clothing, and vehicle characteristics of criminals in real time. Even if you escape this time, the police will still recognize you the next time they pass you by.

Even random NPCs will record your crimes or escapes and post them on GTA 6's internal social media, making you famous.

Therefore, after GTA 6's release, how should we calmly deal with the new Robbery System when it is randomly triggered?

Robbery Guide

1. Pre-location Scouting

Pretend to be a regular customer and enter the shop. Use Eagle Eye to scout and locate your target. Once you've identified your location, look for hidden cameras, safes, and escape routes.

2. Hacking And Disruption

If your target is a medium to large shop, it will probably have many cameras and automatic alarms. Before the operation, obtain a signal jammer or stun gun decoder from the black market.

3. Tactical Division of Labor

The new Robbery System emphasizes teamwork between two characters. Generally, Lucia handles the looting, while Jason is responsible for physical suppression.

4. On-site Control

If you see any NPCs with signs indicating they are trying to reach for their phones or resisting, immediately use Zip Ties to tie them up.

5. Negotiation Options

When cornered by law enforcement, giving up will lead to arrest and jail time, while fighting back can end in being killed. The best option is to negotiate, offering to release some hostages in exchange for the police withdrawing, giving you room to escape.

6. Vehicle Swap and Cash Exchange

After escaping capture, switch to an unfamiliar car and head to the black market to sell the stolen goods, as the police will have memorized your vehicle information.

So, after reading the above information, doesn't it feel like a truly immersive heist tutorial? Believe me, you're not the only one. Also, this is one of the main reasons why players are so excited for GTA 6.

As for other aspects of GTA 6, we'll have to wait for the official reveal in Trailer 3.
