MLB The Show 25 (10 Moonshot Free Cards): Are They Worth Using?
With May 16 update, MLB 25 introduced one of the best programs, Moonshot Program. Aside from packs and MLB 25 stubs, the best reward is obviously the 10 free Moonshot cards.
While half of them are low-scoring cards, you can also get a high-scoring card with 91 OVR. Want to see which cards are just collectibles and which cards are worth joining your team? Take a look at how each card performs.
10. 64 OVR Moonshot Josh Hader (Closing Pitcher)
- Stamina: 25
- H/9: 72
- K/9: 66
- BB/9: 34
- HR/9: 47
- Pitch Clutch: 53
- Control: 50
- Velocity: 99
- Break: 75
Although Moonshot card strengthens offense and weakens defense, this card still has a hard time posing any threat to the opponent. His characteristics are fast speed and decent performance on defense.
This card ranks 319th out of 666 closing pitchers, with only one quirks. Similar cards are worth no more than 20 stubs.
9. 64 OVR Moonshot Corey Kluber (Closing Pitcher)
- Stamina: 60
- H/9: 40
- K/9: 47
- BB/9: 68
- HR/9: 22
- Pitch Clutch: 63
- Control: 65
- Velocity: 81
- Break: 79
64 OVR Corey Kluber faces the same dilemma as Josh Hader. Such poor data makes it difficult for him to appear. Although this card has 3 quirks, his ranking is even lower than Josh Hader, ranking only 352nd.
8. 64 OVR Moonshot Jose Alvarado (Relief Pitcher)
- Stamina: 23
- H/9: 74
- K/9: 74
- BB/9: 5
- HR/9: 68
- Pitch Clutch: 105
- Control: 72
- Velocity: 99
- Break: 65
64 OVR Jose Alvarado is at the top level in both speed and pitch clutch, but his fatal flaw is that his BB/9 is only 5, which makes it very easy for batters to get on base, causing the team to lose points. He ranks 300th as a relief pitcher.
7. 64 OVR Moonshot Cliff Lee (Starting Pitcher)
- Stamina: 73
- H/9: 44
- K/9: 43

His best skill is 4-Seam Fastball. Whether it is break or velocity, his 4-Seam Fastball is top-notch, and its disadvantage is that the control is insufficient. But from a practical point of view, this card, like the first four cards, is only worth collecting.

MLB The Show 25 (10 Best Jolt Cards): Why Do You Recommend Choosing Them?
Faced with so many MLB The Show 25 player cards, not only do you as a player not know how to choose the best, but the game itself also needs to regularly integrate and classify them to make the entire MLB 25 player system clearer and more organized.
This classification can be divided into stars or rookies according to player popularity, or offensive or defensive according to player specialties, or random themes can be arranged, just so that you can get a new player selection experience!
However, no matter how you choose the card, you must complete specific tasks or consume MLB The Show 25 stubs. In order to allow you to better plan your stubs and game time, we will take Jolt cards as an example to recommend you 10 best options.
1. Junior Caminero
- Rays 3B
- OVR: 75
- Quirk: Rally Monkey
- Availability: 100 Stubs
If you’re looking for a player with a well-rounded stat line, but with a lot of speed and fielding, Caminero is the guy for you. His fielding in the 50s and 60s is enough to make him a versatile player at multiple infield positions.
While Caminero may not offer the same offensive power as some of the star players when playing Diamond Dynasty, his long-term reliability is enough to make him a cornerstone of your team.
2. George Brett
- Royals 3B
- OVR: 85
- Quirks: Homebody, Fighter, Dead Red
- Availability: Team Affinity
As a reliable hitter, Brett’s advantage is that he has a high contact rate with both hands, while most players at the same position are usually only good with one hand. In addition, his vision and discipline, stats are also very good.
If possible, it is recommended that you place Brett at third base, which can not only threaten the opposing team, but also allow Brett to better cooperate with his own players, bringing more exciting main performances in Diamond Dynasty.
3. Max Muncy
- Dodgers SS
- OVR: 99
- Power vs RHP: 100
- Availability: Team Affinity
Sometimes when arranging a team lineup, you may not know where to put a player, but if there is a player who can play multiple positions at the same time, this problem is easy to solve! And Muncy is such a player.
Muncy is not only capable of playing first base and third base, but also has a smooth and powerful swing and strong attacking power against both right-handed and left-handed. Although his contact rating is lower in comparison, he is still a player worth recruiting.
4. Ian Kinsler
- Rangers 2B
- OVR: 99
- Clutch: 125

Kinsler is a well-rounded player with balanced attributes and skills. With a perfect blend of speed, defense, and contact rating, Kinsler can help you set the tone for your team during games and be reliable enough to ensure stability at second base.

- Availability: Team Affinity
As an already powerful hitter, Thomas can become even more offensive in MLB 25 with effective quirks, instantly destroying the opponent’s defense based on high contact and power ratings.
Unfortunately, while Thomas has reliable offensive power, his defensive ability is very average. But to be honest, this is nothing. As long as you have enough MLB 25 stubs, you can let Thomas guarantee your hits and score, and then recruit other defensive players.
6. Andrew McCutchen
- Pirates RF
- OVR: 85
- Quirk: Bad Ball Hitter

8. Rollie Fingers
- Brewers CP
- OVR: 85
- Quirk: Stopper
- Availability: Team Affinity
This is also a strong pitcher who will perform better when you match him with the most suitable pitching interface. It is worth mentioning that if Fingers is sent to the field late in the game, he will be able to stop the opponent’s offense in Diamond Dynasty mode and effectively deal with lefties and righties.
9. Kyle Schwarber
- Phillies DH
- OVR: 81
- Quirks: Breaking Ball Hitter, Road Warrior, Table Setter
- Availability: 331 Stubs
Although both left and right hand strengths are as high as 96/97, Schwarber’s advantage is still concentrated in his left hand. With Breaking Ball Hitter or Road Warrior and the ability to attack quickly, Schwarber will have a stronger offensive power in MLB 25.
10. Babe Ruth
- Yankees RF
- OVR: 85
- Quirk: Unfazed
- Availability: Team Affinity
Ruth can provide you with the strongest combat power and flexibility in both on-field performance and team lineup arrangement. His high touch rate and power rating enable him to fight against the opponent and also serve as a right fielder and first baseman at the same time, making him a model of offensive solid ball player.
I believe you have discovered that among these players, those with balanced attributes lack outstanding advantages and explosiveness, and those who are good at offense/defense are likely to be not good at the other, so you need to recruit them according to your team’s current arrangements to maximize the team’s strength. Thank you for reading.

In addition to the two 3rd Inning Boss Choice Packs and MLB The Show 25 Stubs, 91 OVR Postseason Matt Cain is also worth noting.
91 OVR Matt Cain represents Giants’ starting pitcher with three quirks. Here are his pitching attributes:
- Stamina: 101
- H/9: 98
- K/9: 70
- BB/9: 83
- HR/9: 90
- Pitch Clutch: 110
- Control: 82
- Velocity: 83
- Break: 92
Except for K/9 which is only 70, all his attributes are above 80, with H/9 and Stamin being very high. He is good at 4-Seam Fastball and Circle Change, but lacks control over Slider and Sinker.
91 OVR Matt Cain currently ranks 6th among starting pitchers, only a very small gap from 5th.
How To Progress In 3rd Inning Program?
You can progress in 3rd Inning Program by collecting XP. You can earn XP in Diamond Dynasty, Road To The Show or March to October.
The faster you earn XP, the faster you can get all the rewards.
3rd Inning Boss
This month’s three bosses are still very strong, and their OVRs are all 92. These three bosses are the center fielder, shortstop and closer pitcher.
92 OVR Postseason Bernie Williams
- Contact Right: 90
- Contact Left:125
- Power Right: 65
- Power Left: 115
- Vision: 82
- Discipline: 80
- Clutch: 111
- Bunt: 41
- Drag Bunt: 32
- Durability: 93
92 OVR Bernie Williams is a center fielder from Yankees. He is extremely good at hitting pitches from the left. And his Clutch points of 111 also allow him to turn the tide at critical moments.
This card is currently ranked second among center fielders and can be unlocked for 150,000 stubs, while the current number one center fielder, 99 OVR Carlos Beltran, cannot be obtained through Stubs trading.
92 OVR Standout Trevor Story
- Contact Right: 82
- Contact Left: 103
- Power Right: 75
- Power Left: 100
- Vision: 70
- Discipline: 71
- Clutch: 91
- Bunt: 35
- Drag Bunt: 25
- Durability: 99
92 OVR Trevor Story is a shortstop for Rockies. He is also good at handling pitches from the left side and can serve as a powerful hitter for the team. As a shortstop, Trevor Story also has excellent speed and can complete tasks such as defense and stealing bases.
This card is currently the fourth-ranked shortstop, has no quirks, and is worth about 110,000 stubs. I don’t recommend you to trade him now, because his value may drop for a while, you can wait.
92 OVR All-Star Eric Gagne
- Stamina: 27
- H/9: 105
- K/9: 107
- BB/9: 83
- HR/9: 91
- Pitch Clutch: 101
- Control: 81
- Velocity: 99
- Break: 99
This is the best card among the three boss cards. As a closer pitcher, the above data is almost perfect. You can use this card to throw a powerful 4-Seam Fastball, Vulcan Change and Splitter.
92 OVR All-Star Eric Gagne has three quirks, which is less I think. He is currently the top closer pitcher, with a value of around 110,000 stubs.
3rd Inning Program will end on June 7th, and players should try to get all the rewards before it ends.
