MLB The Show 25 College Baseball Team: How To Choose Them?

San Diego Padres’ starting lineup this season is not optimistic. Yu Darvish, who is injured on the elbow, has repeatedly conveyed the news of his return. Can the 38-year-old pitcher save Padres’ decline? It is still unknown at present.

MLB The Show 25 launched the Yu Darvish Evolution Program on July 1. Let’s follow the footsteps of this program and review Yu Darvish’s growth history from MLB to now.

Yu Darvish Evolution Program Includes three free player cards, all of which are Yu Darvish cards. Yu Darvish also has a Live card that was released on March 13th, and this card only requires 400 MLB The Show 25 stubs.

The three cards represent three different periods of Yu Darvish in MLB, and his attributes are getting higher and higher.

85 OVR Rookie Yu Darvish

• Stamina: 94
• H/9: 80
• K/9: 90
• BB/9: 53
• HR/9: 78
• Pitch Clutch: 83
• Control: 66
• Velocity: 90
• Break: 99

85 OVR Rookie Yu Darvish represents his time as a pitcher with Rangers in 2012. He left Japanese National Baseball Team in 2012 and joined Rangers. He won his debut against Seattle Mariners and was selected as an All-Star that year.

This card ranks 151st among starting pitchers in MLB 25. Although he has 5 pitching methods, his Control attribute is too low, which makes his pitching not very stable and easy for opponents to walk.

90 OVR Veteran Yu Darvish

• Stamina: 91
• H/9: 85
• K/9: 75
• BB/9: 86
• HR/9: 80
• Pitch Clutch: 93
• Control: 86
• Velocity: 99
• Break: 96

90 OVR Veteran Yu Darvish represents his last year as a starting pitcher for Chicago Cubs in 2020. Because of the impact of the epidemic, he performed poorly at the beginning of this season, but he quickly recovered and won several high-quality starts for the team.

This card ranks 61st among starting pitchers. Compared with his Rookie card, his Control attribute has increased significantly, but some other attributes have decreased. Although his BB/9 attribute has increased, the decrease in K/9 will make him more likely to be struck out in the game.

95 OVR Standout Yu Darvish

• Stamina: 97
• H/9: 101
• K/9: 85
• BB/9: 88
• HR/9: 81
• Pitch Clutch: 100
• Control: 90
• Velocity: 99
• Break: 99

95 OVR Standout Yu Darvish represents his time pitching for San Diego Padres in 2022. Although he joined Padres in 2021, his defensive data in his first year was not very good, but he won 16 games in 2022, the same number of wins as when he first came to the major leagues in 2012, proving that time cannot make this pitcher’s level decline.

This card ranks ninth among all starting pitchers. From the attribute point of view, it has no many weaknesses. Only K/9 attribute is slightly lower than his Rookie card. The attributes of its five pitches have also become more perfect.

On May 23 update, 68 new player cards were added, 30 of which are from Team Affinity Color Storm. This series is the same as Team Affinity. All players in this series cannot be obtained through stubs trading, but need to get Team Affinity points.

The OVR of these 30 new cards is 91 or 92. They each represent a team, and each card can become an important force on your team. Let’s take a look at the completion conditions of the 15 teams in American League.

Each team's mission is independent and its rewards are also different. You can get MLB 25 card packs, but you can't get MLB The Show 25 stubs.

Moonshot Program introduces a unique set of cards with a lunar background, featuring players who don’t usually have great power or attack attributes. These players are both variations of the main cards in Diamond Dynasty, and new cards.

Since the last few updates, players have begun to complain that the really good cards are too difficult to get, and Moonshot Program has reversed this situation to some extent. This update brings many new cards, and these cards are at least more offensive than before. But at the expense of Fielding and speed, players can build a team with strong offensive power.

The right-hander ranks 13th among 483 starting pitchers in MLB 25. He only has two quirks, and if he had more, his ranking might move up a few spots.
