MLB The Show 26 6th Inning XP Path Predictions: Expected Boss Rewards, New Programs and July 31 Schedule Updates

MLB The Show 26's July 31 update brings major changes with 6th Inning XP Path, possible Griffey Jr. rewards, Weekend Classic, and new Diamond Dynasty content.

Jul 29, 2026 Author: EZG

As the month draws to a close, how's your 5th Inning XP Path coming along?

MLB The Show 26 is already preparing updates for 6th Inning XP Path, Weekend Classic, July Spotlight Drop 3, and the new Cornerstone Program, all launching simultaneously on July 31st.

Based on current player community feedback, 6th Inning XP Path is arguably one of the most anticipated updates of the day, while New Cornerstone Program is a key long-term progression system for Diamond Dynasty this year. It seems the last day of July will be quite packed.

Furthermore, a new program will launch on August 3rd to complement the events starting in August. Let's predict what new gameplay and cards these new events will bring to MLB 26 players.

MLB The Show 26 6th Inning XP Path Predictions: Expected Boss Rewards, New Programs and July 31 Schedule Updates

6th Inning XP Path

XP Path has always been one of the most anticipated aspects for players, as it determines whether ordinary players can obtain some powerful player cards for free.

In previous Inning XP Path rewards typically included Boss Choice Packs, regular card packs, a large number of Stubs, Ballplayer rewards, and Collection resources. Looking at Boss Choice Pack players from 4th and 5th Inning XP Paths, an interesting pattern emerges:

Boss Choice Packs

4th Inning XP Path:

  • Roger Clemens (97OVR)
  • Rafael Devers (97OVR)

5th Inning XP Path:

  • Shohei Ohtani (99OVR)
  • Mike Trout (99OVR)

These four players excel in different positions in the game, but in real-world matches, they are all game-changing powerhouses.

  • Roger Clemens, a legendary pitcher, a seven-time Cy Young Award winner, and with over 4,000 strikeouts in his career, is the kind of pitcher who can instantly transform the strength of a ranked lineup once acquired.
  • Rafael Devers, slightly inferior to Roger Clemens, is crucial for left-handed hitters in MLB The Show 26, especially against right-handed pitchers. His value in the meta environment will be even more pronounced, as he represents the archetype of a modern power hitter.
  • Shohei Ohtani, an MLB legend, can dominate in real-world pitching and create extra-base hits. In MLB 26, he's one of the few all-around players who simultaneously provides top-tier power, speed, pitching value, and lineup flexibility, making him extremely valuable.
  • Mike Trout, equally formidable, was considered one of the most complete five-tool players of the 21st century at his peak. He consistently maintained high batting averages, on-base percentages, and top-tier defense in real-world games. In the game, he also excels in speed, power, and catching ability - all top-tier attributes.

Based on the characteristics of these four players, we can confidently predict Boss Choice Pack roster for 6th Inning XP Path, including Ken Griffey Jr., Pedro Martínez, and Chipper Jones.

Ken Griffey Jr., in particular, is currently the most anticipated player among fans. He's a top-tier left-handed power outfielder, possessing speed, defense, arm strength, and hitting ability, making him consistently popular on the field.

If a 99OVR Ken Griffey Jr. were to emerge, his CF and RF competitiveness would be extremely strong, almost certainly making him a hot trade target in MLB The Show 26 player market.

Pedro Martínez, at his peak, was arguably one of the most formidable pitchers in baseball history, winning three Cy Young Awards. He boasted an exceptionally high strikeout rate and was a master of control.

His greatest strength wasn't just groundspeed, but his highly deceptive breaking balls and precise ball control. Fans hold him in extremely high regard.

Chipper Jones, one of the best third basemen from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, was the 1999 NL MVP, hitting over 300 home runs in his career. His greatest strengths lay in his top-tier left-handed hitting ability and excellent pitch selection, resulting in consistent and reliable performances on the field.

One reason he's a predicted card is the scarcity of third base in MLB The Show 26, and his position has been a popular choice in previous installments.

Weekend Classic

Weekend Classic is a limited-time competitive mode for high-level players in MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty, essentially an enhanced version of Solo Ranked.

It transforms the single-player mode of Ranked Seasons of a weekend ranking event, typically featuring special rules, limited rewards, and the most representative highly competitive gameplay.

You can earn extra rewards by playing consecutive games, and higher-level rewards based on your ranking.

Following past reward mechanisms, in addition to the card packs, MLB 26 Stubs, Player Rewards, and Choice Packs earned in each game, top-ranked players can receive additional rewards, such as top players, which can help players quickly bolster their Diamond Dynasty roster.

These players typically possess excellent speed, strength, and outlier abilities; once their overall rating reaches 97 or higher, they may directly enter the mainstream roster of Ranked Seasons.

July Spotlight Drop 3

Spotlight series typically fills in the gaps in MLB The Show 26 with the month's top performers, current MLB game favorites, and free mission rewards.

Late July coincides with the final stages of All-Star event and a peak period for player performances, so July Spotlight Drop 3 is likely to feature regular rewards of 95-97 OVR and Lightning or special rewards of 98-99 OVR.

Player selections will focus on players with outstanding stats from the current season and those performing well in All-Star event. Players can also lock in some young core players based on their stats and stockpile them, hoping to profit significantly if they improve in July Spotlight Drop 3.

New Cornerstone Program

Cornerstone Program is a new and important system in MLB The Show 26. Completing progress through Moments and Missions unlocks a free player's exclusive card. Currently released Cornerstone players are Travis Hafner and Carlos Correa, both of whom are strong in the early and mid-game but not suitable for the late game.

Therefore, Cornerstone Program's reward players can serve as a smooth transition for players in the new phase.

Based on this characteristic, the selection of Cornerstone Program reward players on July 31st mainly follows two directions: young superstars (such as Julio Rodríguez) and low-level legendary players (whose value can be increased or evolved through later missions).

The specific list of reward players and update details will be released on July 31st. If you don't want to miss it, follow EZG Facebook; we will update the latest information in real time. Also, to make the new gameplay easier for you, we have prepared a lot of free stubs giveaways-come and participate!

There are 2 days left until the above event goes live. What you need to do now is:

1. Don't sell your collection cards recklessly.

A large number of collections may be needed on July 31st.

2. Save XP resources.

If you are close to 5th Inning XP Path Boss, don't consume your rewards prematurely; wait for 6th Inning XP Path to open.

3. Save stubs.

If a popular, powerful player card appears in the update, acquiring it will require a significant amount of Stubs.

Overall, July 31st is expected to be the second major milestone moment for MLB The Show 26 this summer.
