MLB The Show 26 Joshua Baez Program: Get a 99 OVR Card With Just One Home Run

According to the latest official schedule, we'll be seeing a plethora of new content at MLB 26, including new projects, Conquest mode content, roster adjustments, and a Roberto Clement tribute event, making this week one of the most exciting and diverse in MLB The Show 26 content calendar.

This article will guide players through what new content will be available at MLB The Show 26 from September 11th to 15th.

Whether you're a competitive player chasing high-tier rewards, a collector building the ultimate roster, or a fan wanting to pay homage to one of the game's greatest legends, you're sure to find something to enjoy in the coming days.

September Spotlight Drop 1

September Spotlight Drop 1 launches on September 11th, bringing a series of new challenges and exclusive rewards to Diamond Dynasty mode players. These spotlight drops typically feature players who have performed exceptionally well that month and offer themed card collections, allowing players to strengthen their rosters.

While the specific players selected haven't been announced yet, based on past practice, we can expect some current MLB stars and legends who have had outstanding performances in September. Here are some top contenders:

Jazz Chisholm Jr. - Miami Marlins

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is one of the brightest players in baseball this September, and his performance has attracted the attention of many MLB The Show 26 players. As of the first week of September, he boasts a .348 batting average, along with multiple home runs and stolen bases.

I believe Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s all-around abilities - speed, power, and defense - make him an ideal candidate for a featured player card. An enhanced Chisholm card would retain his signature 90+ speed and stolen base attributes, and is expected to possess formidable hitting ability against both left- and right-handed pitchers.

His popularity has been incredibly high recently, so it would be surprising if he ultimately didn't make the cut.

Gunnar Henderson - Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore Orioles have been fighting for a playoff spot, and Gunnar Henderson is a key figure in their push. Since September, Henderson has batted .328 with 5 home runs and an OPS of 1.015.

He can also play shortstop and third base. Therefore, a September Spotlight selection would significantly enhance his value in Diamond Dynasty format, boosting his power and clutch performance.

Oneil Cruz - Pittsburgh Pirates

Oneil Cruz's performance in the second half of the season has been impressive, especially his strong showing in September. He has batted .340 and hit six extra-base hits in his last ten games, proving why he is considered one of the most promising young players in baseball.

In addition, his imposing physique and powerful hitting ability make him a fan favorite. A Spotlight card would undoubtedly showcase his signature 98+ arm strength and excellent hitting ability against right-handed pitchers. Players can look forward to it.

Tarik Skubal - Detroit Tigers

Tarik Skubal is a pitcher who performed exceptionally well in September, achieving an ERA of 1.89 and striking out 37 in his last four starts. Meanwhile, his combination of fastball and changeup has left batters helpless. A Spotlight card could showcase his top-tier per-nine stats and highly lethal pitching combination.

In Diamond Dynasty mode, top-tier starting pitchers are relatively scarce, so if Tarik Skubal is indeed included, he should be highly sought after by players.

A New Conquest Map

On September 11th, MLB 26 will bring us a brand new Conquest Map. Conquest mode has always been a popular mode among players, blending turn-based strategy with action-packed gameplay.

These maps reward players for efficiently capturing territory and winning fortresses, and also contain hidden rewards. The new maps will provide players with another way to obtain card packs, MLB The Show 26 stubs, and exclusive player cards related to September theme.

Roster Attribute Adjustments

On September 11th, San Diego Studio will adjust player ratings based on their actual performance in MLB games. These adjustments may have a certain impact on the in-game economy and roster building.

The previous player attribute adjustments were on August 28th, which included 28 rating adjustments, with many players receiving rating increases. September 11th adjustments will reflect players' performance over the past two weeks, meaning that players in excellent form may receive a significant overall rating boost.

Players who like to invest in the market should pay special attention to these updates. I believe Jung Hoo Le will receive a rating boost in September 11th adjustments, as his performance this season has been steadily improving, and he is very likely to surprise us later.

Roberto Clemente Day

MLB has designated September 15th as Roberto Clemente Day to commemorate this respected figure in baseball. A 15-time All-Star, Hall of Famer, and humanitarian, Clemente tragically died in a plane crash while transporting aid to earthquake-stricken Nicaragua.

In the game, an 88 overall Jolt series Clemente card has been confirmed for September 15th, boasting top-tier hitting attributes - especially against left-handed pitchers, with a batting average of 100 and an impressive 99 arm strength.

This card is a great option for players looking to build Pirates-themed teams or add a reliable outfielder to their Diamond Dynasty roster.

This concludes our update on MLB 26 from September 11th to 15th. For players looking to prepare for upcoming roster changes, closely monitoring real-world MLB performance is crucial.

Players in excellent form are ideal for upgrades, while underperforming players may face rating drops. The market typically reacts strongly to these updates, offering savvy players the opportunity to profit from their investments. Let's look forward to the new content!

August Spotlight program in MLB The Show 26 is reaching its conclusion. With the launch of August Spotlight Program Drop 4, the content from the past few weeks has fully come together. The standout targets in this round are two 99 OVR Lightning cards: Jac Caglianone and Retro Lightning Kris Bryant.

This update also introduces a 99 OVR Alex Bregman, 7th Inning Stretch Event, a Lightning Conquest Map, August Spotlight Pack: Drop 4, and Chase Pack 25.

If you want to upgrade your Diamond Dynasty squad as efficiently as possible, the priorities are clear: first, complete Drop 4 to acquire Jac Caglianone, then round out Kris Bryant Collection through Event and Conquest modes.

How to Unlock August Lightning Jac Caglianone?

Jac Caglianone earned this 99 OVR Spotlight Series card in MLB 26 thanks to his outstanding performance in August.

He posted a .411 batting average across 24 games, tallying 39 hits, 6 home runs, and 26 RBIs, ultimately winning AL Player of the Month award.

Unlocking Jac Caglianone requires collecting four specific player cards for August Lightning Collection:

• Angel Genao
• Gunnar Henderson
• Nick Sogard
• Alex Bregman

Collecting three cards grants you 99 OVR Milestone Series JJ Bleday, while collecting all four unlocks 99 OVR Spotlight Series Jac Caglianone.

With the release of Drop 4, Alex Bregman has become the final required card for this collection. Players who have already completed Spotlight Program content from the previous three weeks can now proceed directly to the final reward.

Complete Drop 4 First to Get Alex Bregman

If Jac Caglianone is your current goal, you should prioritize completing August Spotlight Program: Drop 4 in The Show 26.

Drop 4 adds a new batch of 99 and 97 OVR players, the most crucial being 99 OVR Alex Bregman, as he is directly tied to Jac Caglianone Collection.

This round introduces 99 OVR players such as Jake Bauers, Carson Benge, Cal Quantrill, Gary Sánchez, and Paul Blackburn, alongside several 97 OVR rewards.

Players who have already acquired Angel Genao, Gunnar Henderson, and Nick Sogard can return to Spotlight Collections to unlock Jac after completing Drop 4 and obtaining Bregman.

If you are still building out your Diamond Dynasty roster, keeping some MLB 26 stubs available can also give you more flexibility when filling gaps in your collection.

How to get Retro Lightning Kris Bryant?

Another major reward is 99 OVR Retro Lightning Kris Bryant.

This MLB 26 card reflects Bryant’s performance in August 2016, a month in which he posted a .383 batting average with 10 home runs and 22 RBIs. That year, he went on to win NL MVP award and helped Chicago Cubs secure 2016 World Series title.

The path to obtaining Kris Bryant differs from the one for Jac. Players must collect Spotlight Series players from August Spotlight Pack Drops 1 through 4.

Collecting 8 players earns you 99 OVR Corey Seager, while reaching 13 players unlocks 99 OVR Retro Lightning Kris Bryant.

Compared to Jac, Bryant relies more heavily on Spotlight Pack Collection, so it takes more time to gather the necessary players.

7th Inning Stretch Event is Worth Grinding

After finishing Jac, you can continue grinding 7th Inning Stretch Event in MLB 26.

This event allows players to build lineups using Flashback and Live Series players, progressing through Program by winning games and completing Event Missions.

Rewards include August Spotlight Packs (Drops 1–4), August Spotlight "Any" Packs, XP, and other packs.

These rewards are highly beneficial for Kris Bryant Collection, especially for players still missing Spotlight players from earlier drops.

Use Lightning Conquest Map to Fill Your Collection

In MLB 26, you can prioritize Lightning Conquest Map after completing Drop 4 and Event.

Completing map objectives yields XP, a Vault Choice Pack, and August, July, and June Spotlight "Any" Packs.

August Spotlight Any Pack helps advance the current Collection, while June and July packs are useful for acquiring rewards from previous months.

If you have already obtained Jac, grinding Conquest to fill out Bryant Collection will be a smoother process. Key Highlights of August Spotlight Pack: Drop 4

August Spotlight Pack: Drop 4 introduces a new batch of 99 OVR Spotlight Series and Topps Now players, including:

• Josh Bell
• Alejandro Kirk
• Kodai Senga
• Bryson Stott
• Cade Cavalli
• Henry Bolte
• Martín Pérez
• Coby Mayo
• Javier Sanoja
• Ryan Johnson

The primary use for these cards in a Collection is progressing toward Kris Bryant, as obtaining him requires collecting 13 Spotlight Series players from August Spotlight Pack Drops 1 through 4.

If your immediate goal is simply to acquire Jac Caglianone as quickly as possible, there is no need to prioritize spending resources on these packs.

For players trying to conserve MLB stubs, it makes more sense to take advantage of free Event and Conquest rewards before spending heavily on additional packs.

Chase Pack 25 Can Be Saved for Last

The featured reward for Chase Pack 25 is 99 OVR Milestone Series Chili Davis.

Players can obtain Chase Pack 25 via 7th Inning XP Reward Path Wheel, The Show 50-Pack Bundle, or standard The Show Packs.

Each Chase Pack 25 guarantees at least one Diamond player, though Chili Davis is not a guaranteed pull.

Since this aspect is not directly tied to August Lightning Collection, it can be addressed last.

Since Chili Davis is not guaranteed, spending large amounts of MLB The Show 26 Stubs specifically chasing this card may not be the most efficient choice.

Recommended Completion Order for August Spotlight

The most logical path right now is to first complete August Spotlight Program: Drop 4 to acquire 99 OVR Alex Bregman and unlock Jac Caglianone.

Next, move on to 7th Inning Stretch Event; use August Spotlight Packs to fill out Kris Bryant Collection, then complete Lightning Conquest Map to continue earning August Spotlight Any Pack rewards.

Once you have accumulated enough Spotlight Series players, return to August Retro Lightning Collection. Collect 8 cards to get Corey Seager first, and eventually reach 13 cards to unlock Kris Bryant.

The focus of this August Spotlight update is to wrap up the content from previous weeks. Jac Caglianone is easily attainable for players who have been keeping up with Program, while Kris Bryant serves as a goal for continued collecting.

This update provides multiple ways to acquire the necessary cards, making the overall progression smoother than before.

This 99 OVR Spotlight Nick Sogard is a top-tier Red Diamond card released during MLB The Show 26 August Spotlight Drop 3 program. Since this card is obtained through gameplay progress rather than pass through card packs or the market, this is a great opportunity to acquire a top-tier player without spending stubs.

This article will introduce you to information about 99 OVR Nick Sogard and how to acquire him in MLB 26.

About Nick Sogard

Nick Sogard is a 28-year-old ambidextrous hitter for Boston Red Sox. While his primary position is second base (2B), his card demonstrates exceptional versatility, also capable of playing first base (1B), third base (3B), shortstop (SS), left field (LF), and right field (RF).

This makes him an extremely versatile player in any Diamond Dynasty, capable of playing multiple positions as needed.

Sogard card design is inspired by his actual stats from 2026 season: in 38 games, he had a batting average of .267, an on-base percentage of .379, and an OPS of .772, including 9 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs. This player's ability is truly outstanding.

Player Attributes

This card is particularly renowned for its hitting ability in MLB 26. At bat, he boasts a near-perfect batting average, achieving 125 against both left- and right-handed pitchers. This makes him the top-ranked ambidextrous hitter in the entire game.

His power is also far above average, with 97 power against left-handed pitchers and 80 against right-handed pitchers, making him extremely threatening from both sides. His pitch selection is also top-notch, with a discipline of 125 and vision of 115, allowing him to accurately control the pitch count and consistently hit singles. Furthermore, his clutch performance is an impressive 111.

Defensively, he's an excellent fielder with a fielding rating of 85 and quick reflexes, including a 92 forward reaction and an 87 backward reaction. However, his speed is a significant weakness, and his stolen base rating is also quite low. This means he's primarily a hitter; while he can contribute defensively, he's not a major threat on the bases.

In the current rankings, Nick Sogard is considered a top player. He's ranked 5th among all second basemen and 8th among shortstops, third basemen, and other positions. Overall, he's one of the best free players in MLB 26.

Active Quirks

To further enhance the player experience, MLB 26 has equipped this card with six active traits that provide situational attribute bonuses:

• Home Advantage: Performs better in home games, gaining one attribute bonus and increasing PCI (Battering Zone) size.
• First-Pitcher: Proficient at hitting the first pitch, possessing corresponding hitting attributes. Gains a slight bonus in this situation.
• Precision Hitter: Proficient at hitting fastballs, receives a slight bonus against fastballs.
• Baller: Proficient at hitting balls outside the strike zone.
• Night Player: Performs better in night games, receives a stat bonus.
• Starting Strike Player: Performs better when there are no runners on base.

How to Acquire?

Acquisition Methods

Unlike other top players who require a large number of MLB The Show 26 stubs to acquire, 99 OVR's Spotlight Nick Sogard can be obtained through August Spotlight Drop 3 program, which uses an experience point reward path system.

This means you can earn Program Experience Points (XP) by participating in various in-game activities, and unlock 99OVR reward once you reach 50 Program Points.

August Spotlight Drop 3 program offers several ways to earn XP, as follows:

Program Moments

Complete specific in-game scenes featuring Spotlight player. There are seven Moments in total, each rewarding 4 XP upon completion, for a total of 28 Points.

Program Missions

These are repeatable objectives. Common missions include:

• Tallying Parallel XP (PXP) with any players
• Tallying PXP specifically with Spotlight and Topps Now series players
• Tallying extra-base hits
• Tallying strikeouts with starting pitchers

General Gameplay XP

Any XP you gain through standard Diamond Dynasty gameplay (such as in ranked seasons, events, Conquest mode, or offline AI matches) will contribute to your progress on the program's reward path.

Efficient Acquisition Strategy

The most efficient strategy for quickly gaining XP is to combine these activities. First, complete the program's Moments challenges for fast and guaranteed XP.

Then, while playing regular matches, keep an eye on the program's cumulative missions (such as total strikeouts or slug hits). Meanwhile, using Spotlight and Topps Now players in your roster will accelerate the completion of PXP-specific missions, which offer higher XP rewards.

Finally, since the program can be progressed through offline modes like Moments and Conquest, you don't need to play competitive PvP to unlock Sogard.

After unlocking Nick Sogard, you can continue collecting Genao and Henderson, who are also rewards from August Spotlight Drop 3 program. Once you've collected them all, you can unlock another powerful card - 99 OVR JJ Bleday.

This card will be released on August 22, 2026, to commemorate his historic moment. This means that obtaining Sogard is a key step towards unlocking more exclusive rewards and building a powerful Diamond Dynasty team.

That concludes this article about 99OVR Spotlight Nick Sogard from MLB The Show 26 August Spotlight Drop 3 program. Finally, this event is time-limited, so you should prioritize progressing through it to ensure you don't miss out on Sogard or other rewards before it ends. I look forward to your success.

As MLB The Show 26 enters the later stages of its lifecycle, community trust in SDS is clearly declining. While content continues to be released, player concerns are not being adequately addressed.

Gameplay remains the most controversial aspect, and modes like Weekend Classic still have room for improvement. The pace of graphical enhancements in MLB The Show is increasingly failing to meet the expectations of PS5-generation players.

So, has SDS begun to reduce its investment in MLB The Show 26? EZG.com will examine what the game most urgently needs to change, and whether San Diego Studio still has a chance to regain player base with a truly significant update.

Gameplay

Currently, MLB The Show 26's gameplay is still significantly affected by the changeup meta, especially the prevalence of slow changeups paired with sinker strategies. Meanwhile, shrinkage-induced exit velocity instability is also considered a major source of MLB 26's problems.

Switch Hitter Meta further amplifies the matchup pressure on pitchers. Facing numerous lefties, some righty starters struggle to maintain consistent performance, while the high priority of changes gives pitchers with quality changes and deceptive pitch mixes a greater competitive edge.

Johan Santana is a prime example. His primary circle change has a significant speed difference, coupled with a cutter that can cross the plate and a fastball with up to 96 MPH, making him difficult to handle in MLB 26. The required number of MLB The Show stubs has now risen to 45K.

If MLB The Show 26 could eliminate shrinkage while retaining its existing game framework and reduce the long-term dominance of a single pitch type in the meta, the gameplay experience should improve significantly.

Weekend Classic

Weekend Classic should be a true weekend mode, not just another Monthly Classic. Even if it can't offer the same level of rewards and MLB 26 stubs every week, it should at least give us a reason to participate every weekend.

Theme Team Mode is also worth adding. With the continuous release of a large amount of themed content, we often lack a truly suitable MLB 26 playing environment for these cards. Adding Theme Team Mode would give different types of cards more room to maneuver and further enrich Diamond Dynasty's gameplay.

Salary Cap Mode could also be an option. Theme Team and Salary Cap don't necessarily need to appear simultaneously, but this mode can break the fixed lineups and mainstream meta of MLB 26, giving Diamond Dynasty more lineup combinations.

The stadium design for MLB 26 Weekend Classic also deserves a rethink. A dedicated weekend classic stadium can make the playing environment more unified. A similar idea could be used for the future return of Battle Royale, setting different dedicated BR stadiums based on wins.

Weekend Classic could assign different Stadiums according to Divisions such as Bronze, Silver, and Gold, but the core is to ensure consistent gameplay conditions across all Stadiums, only changing the visual presentation. There shouldn't be stadiums like Coors used in lower-level matches, while those like Polo Grounds are used in higher-level matches.

Elevation should be kept at a moderate level, outfield wall distances should be normal, foul territory shouldn't be too large or completely absent, batter's eye should be kept clean, and other differences can be left to visual design.

It's worth noting that the performance of Created Stadiums in online mode has always been controversial. Whether player-created or officially designed by MLB 26, stadiums can experience performance issues due to the impact of assets on the server and gameplay.

Field of Dreams is a typical example; this stadium design is unique, but its actual performance is not ideal, and these issues need to be addressed by MLB The Show 26 team.

Graphical Boost

Graphical boost has also become an increasingly obvious requirement. eBaseball Pro Spirit's graphics are already excellent, and 2K visuals are becoming increasingly impressive. In comparison, MLB The Show still has a PS4 game-like feel.

As PS5 era enters its later stages, MLB The Show 26 needs to truly leap into the next generation in terms of visual presentation. While some content has indeed been optimized, it's not yet enough to give us a feeling of something completely new, premium, and cool.

Is SDS Slacking Off?

It's still inconclusive whether MLB The Show 26 has officially slacked off. Content will continue to be updated, and Postseason Content will be available, but aside from these regular updates, San Diego Studio is practically relegated to radio silence.

We can see that the update schedule for MLB 26 is unstable. Some weeks see three or four Content Drops, some only one, and some weeks offer almost nothing but Tops Now Spotlight. For a AAA game that releases a new title every year, such an update frequency makes it difficult to maintain long-term community enthusiasm.

The cheating situation cannot be ignored either, especially the bots on Marketplace. The fact that these issues persist into 2026 is already disappointing enough. If the official team wants to maintain Diamond Dynasty's MLB 26 stubs system and player trust, the cheating issue clearly needs a more direct approach.

Live streams have also been absent for a long time, and MLB 26 social media content consists mostly of pre-arranged posts or routine content updates, rarely featuring truly new content that sparks community discussion.

Therefore, the genuine issue now isn't whether MLB The Show 26 will receive any more content, but whether the official team is still willing to make monumental adjustments. Currently, the likelihood of large-scale adjustments is decreasing.

However, if MLB 26 were to suddenly release a content update or game patch in mid-September, clearly stating that player feedback has been heard and positive changes are being made, the community's attitude could change immediately.

After all, MLB The Show 26's lifecycle is far from over. For a AAA game still with a long operational lifespan, if the current problems continue into the later stages, it's clearly not an ideal outcome.

Recently, complaints from MLB The Show 26 players regarding the batting system have increasingly focused on two issues: some pitches that appear to hit well have noticeably low Exit Velo; and some pitches cause a sudden shrinkage of PCI, especially noticeable in Circle Change, even near the center of the strike zone.

A new explanation has recently emerged in the community: the problem may be related to previous adjustments to Strike Zone, and the batting system hasn't fully adapted to this change.

If this hypothesis is correct, it could explain some seemingly unreasonable batting feedback. However, several counterexamples have emerged in the community, and it's currently uncertain whether low Exit Velo and PCI shrinkage are truly related to Strike Zone adjustments.

Strike Zone Conflict

The core of this theory stems from the changes to Strike Zone. MLB The Show 26 previously adjusted the strike zone, allowing pitches where part of the ball touches the edge to be called a strike, making it closer to ABS system's judgment method.

The problem is that after Strike Zone adjustment, Hitting System's judgment of in-zone and out-of-zone positions may not have changed synchronously.

If MLB 26 still handles in-zone swings and chases separately, then the most likely location to expose the problem is naturally the edge of the strike zone.

According to the current judgment, a ball that grazes the edge is already a strike and therefore cannot be left unpunished; however, within the batting system, this position may still fall outside the zone as defined by the old model.

To cover such pitches, PCI needs to move to the edge or even outside of the strike zone, and this swing might then be identified as a chase by the system.

As a result, a pitch that is technically a strike could be affected by the batting mechanism similar to chasing a bad ball. Even if the contact is close to the center and the timing is not obviously wrong, the final result may still be a smaller PCI or a lower Exit Velo.

However, an important counterexample is that pitches outside the zone do not consistently produce a low Exit Velo. For example, a slider outside the strike zone can still produce an exit velocity of 106 MPH, and a changeup below the strike zone can still produce a home run of nearly 450 feet.

If the system uses the simple logic of "reducing the exit velocity whenever there's a challenge," these results are difficult to explain. Therefore, the ball being outside the zone may not be sufficient to determine the final initial velocity.

Why Exit Velo and PCI Results Can Differ?

Perfect-Perfect Exception

Regarding these high exit velocity exceptions in The Show 26, there's a more nuanced explanation: Perfect-Perfect might be a special case.

The negative effects of throwing outside the zone may primarily affect shots that don't achieve Perfect Contact. Since Perfect-Perfect already represents the highest contact quality, even if the ball is outside the zone, it may still maintain a high exit velocity.

If this mechanism exists, it explains why powerful shots like 106 MPH and 450 feet can occur outside the zone, while weak, marginal shots frequently appear. The difference between these two outcomes likely stems more from Contact Quality than simply whether the shot is outside the zone.

The results of Perfect-Perfect shots themselves are not always easily explained intuitively by attributes. For example, a Fernando Tatis card with Power only in the 80s has still produced home runs of around 550 feet, showing why card attributes alone may not always predict results, even when players spend MLB The Show 26 stubs upgrading their lineup.

Such extreme results demonstrate that directly inferring EV patterns from Perfect-Perfect samples can easily distort judgments.

PCI Shrinkage May Be The Key

Another explanation is that shots outside the zone may not directly reduce Exit Velo for the same contact quality, but cause PCI to shrink first.

Therefore, the same shot error can result in completely different Contact Qualitys depending on the location.

When the ball is within the zone, PCI is larger, so even a slight miss from the perfect point can still produce solid contact, especially with cards whose hitting attributes justify The Show 26 stubs invested in them.

When the ball moves outside the zone, PCI shrinks significantly. A deviation of the same distance accounts for a larger proportion of the overall PCI, making it easier for the system to judge it as a poor shot.

The end result may still be a lower Exit Velo for shots thrown outside the zone, but the reason isn't necessarily a direct reduction in EV by the system. Rather, the shrinking PCI first reduces the margin of error, then the contact quality decreases, and only then is Exit Velo affected.

Therefore, the real impact of outside the zone position may not be a fixed EV penalty, but a lower margin of error. Timing may also be similarly affected, making small errors of the same degree more likely to translate into poor contact quality.

Circle Change Complicates the Theory

Circle Change is the most difficult aspect to explain in the entire MLB 26 theory.

Some of the more noticeable PCI shrinkage currently occurs in Circle Change, and even when the pitch is near the center of the strike zone, PCI can still shrink significantly. This phenomenon is difficult to explain if the problem stems solely from Chase, Zone edge, or old strike zone judgments.

This suggests that there may be other factors within The Show 26 that influence PCI size, such as Pitch Type, Movement, speed difference, or some independent difficulty adjustment. The simultaneous occurrence of anomalies in Circle Change and edge strikes does not necessarily indicate that they share the same root cause.

Therefore, attributing all recent low EV and PCI shrinkage to Strike Zone Theory may be an oversimplification.

Until these hitting mechanics are better understood, lineup construction remains one of the few factors players can directly control.

Spending MLB 26 stubs carefully on cards that better suit their current hitting approach may therefore be more practical than reacting to every unusual Exit Velo result.

Under identical timing, PCI placement, and contact quality, is there a systematic difference in the final result between a ball in the center of the zone and a ball grazing the edge of the current Strike Zone? If this difference can be consistently reproduced, then the strike zone theory truly has evidence to continue pursuing.

Weekend Classic of MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty, which began on August 28th, has recently seen a very obvious pitching trend: the use of circle changes is increasing significantly, and it's especially difficult to handle on Legend difficulty. In a single Weekend Classic game, opponents might throw 84 out of 100 pitches as circle changes.

The main problem is that the actual intensity of circle changes clearly exceeds their normal placement in regular pitch mixes, making them very difficult to deal with.

EZG will now explain why Weekend Classic is being used so frequently by players and how to counter this new meta in MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty.

Meta

In MLB The Show 26, the biggest advantage of circle changes is that they simultaneously alter the hitting rhythm and PCI control requirements. Legend difficulty itself demands more precise PCI control, and the hitting window is more demanding.

While fastballs require quick reactions, circle changes require precise timing of the swing. When fastballs and circle changes are mixed, batters need to constantly adjust their timing.

If the pitcher starts reducing fastballs or uses circle changes consecutively, the overall hitting rhythm will be significantly slowed down.

More importantly, in MLB 26 Weekend Classic, even if the batter anticipates the opponent might continue throwing circle changes, it doesn't mean the pitch is easy to handle. This is what makes it unique: reading the pitch doesn't necessarily translate to a corresponding advantage.

Normally, the pitcher changes their attack method using different pitches like fastballs, sliders, changeups, and curveballs, while the batter judges the next pitch based on the pitcher's motion, pitch speed, and trajectory. Theoretically, if the same pitch is used consecutively, the batter should be able to gain a greater hitting advantage through anticipation.

However, circle changes currently create continuous timing pressure at MLB 26 Legend level. Even if the batter prepares for a slowball in advance, they might still encounter timing problems due to hitting too early; if they choose to wait, they might miss fastballs or other suitable pitches to hit. This reduces the strategic flexibility that Pitch Mix should offer.

This disparity is particularly pronounced in Weekend Classic games. Against pitchers who frequently use circle changes, games easily devolve into offense and defense revolving around slow-pitch timing. The consistently high usage rate of a particular pitch in MLB The Show 26 ultimately affects not only the strength of that card but also the strategic gameplay inherent in the entire mode.

Pitcher

The dominance of circle changes directly affects current pitcher selection. In the challenging environments of MLB The Show 26 Weekend Classic and Ranked modes, pitchers with excellent breaking balls, consistent control, and the ability to consistently influence batter timing are more valuable.

Jonathan Broxton's fastball can reach a maximum of 103 MPH, disrupting batting rhythm with extremely high speed, but he is not a must-have pitcher in the current MLB 26 meta.

CC and Trevor Hoffman have recently gained more attention, leading to a greater demand for MLB 26 stubs, largely because of their ability to constantly alter the hitting rhythm with breaking balls.

The significant speed difference between a fastball and a circle change is particularly important. Fastballs create pressure for quick reactions, while circle changes force batters to extend their waiting time; the combination of both makes timing judgment much more difficult.

How to Counter?

In MLB The Show 26, facing a circle change isn't simply about improving reaction speed, but readjusting your timing. Even if you know your opponent likes to throw circle changes, don't prepare for every pitch as a slowball.

Because once a fixed anticipation is established, your opponent can easily create a greater timing difference by changing their pitching rhythm using MLB 26 fastballs or other pitches.

Besides the pitch type, pitching position is also crucial. If circle changes frequently land deep in the strike zone, prioritize PCI contact quality rather than striving for a perfect-perfect.

Especially after two hits, it's crucial not to over-pitch just because you've missed a few slow balls. Otherwise, you'll easily lose your hitting rhythm while waiting for the next breaking ball.

The most common problem with circle changes is impatience. After several missed pitches, players often instinctively swing prematurely, only to be further outpaced by slower balls. Maintaining a consistent hitting rhythm is more important than simply guessing what the next ball will be.

If your opponent has been using circle changes extensively, you can narrow your anticipation range, focusing your attention on their most frequently used pitching area while preserving space to react to fastballs.

The goal isn't to completely predict the next ball, but to reduce the impact of circle changes while avoiding losing your ability to handle other pitches in MLB 26 because of over-anticipation.

The current Weekend Classic has proven that pitchers who can control the batter's timing in MLB The Show 26 are gaining increasing competitive value. From a broader perspective, the circle change trend in Weekend Classic is also worth noting for MLB The Show 26 development team.

If a pitch type can maintain extremely high usage for an extended period and continue to generate significant timing pressure even when identified early, then the issue is no longer simply that a particular pitcher or card is too strong; rather, it indicates a shift in the balance of the pitch mix itself.
