MLB The Show 26: Should You Sell Your Cards Now or Hold Them for August 21 Collection?

August 21 Collection could shake up MLB The Show 26 market. Here's what to keep, why WBC cards are getting expensive, and how new players can catch up without wasting Stubs.

Aug 18, 2026 Author: EZG Views: 74

MLB The Show 26 is now in its mid-to-late season, and Diamond Dynasty card pool is growing increasingly large, with the price difference between early content and new cards becoming more pronounced.

Veteran players who have been playing for several months are starting to consider how to utilize their resources, while new players are also considering how to catch up using the existing content.

MLB The Show 26: Should You Sell Your Cards Now or Hold Them for August 21 Collection?

So, should you sell your cards now? Which cards are worth keeping? And how can new players catch up more efficiently? EZG will discuss these questions below.

Don't Rush to Sell

The new Collection for MLB The Show 26 in Diamond Dynasty will launch on August 21st. The official requirements and ultimate rewards haven't been announced yet, so many players have already started selling cards they don't need right now to prepare stubs.

However, I don't recommend clearing out your MLB 26 binder too completely right now. The cards you sell now might be exactly what the next big collection needs, especially Legends and Flashbacks Collection. Once the collection opens, demand will probably increase, and the prices of these cards might even rise further.

Cards like World Series Rewards Jason Varitek rarely see their prices drop easily before Rewind event. Trade Deadline Collection is a good example. This collection is relatively well-designed, allowing you to acquire the cards you need through various means.

If the new collection on August 21st has a similar design, then there's even less need to sell cards now to prepare for Stubs. Of course, collection priorities vary from person to person. If you're chasing the big MLB 26 collection, then the most important thing right now is to hold on to your key cards.

As for cards that are definitely not going to be used in MLB 26 and won't have a significant impact on future collections, you can sell one or two to start the new collection.

WBC Price Increase

Old World Baseball Classic cards are getting more and more expensive, and the reason is quite simple. These cards, previously included in packs, are no longer readily available through stable acquisition channels. MLB 26 market supply is dwindling, while we need them to complete our collections, naturally driving up prices.

This is a classic case of supply and demand. Some 84 Overall World Baseball Classic cards are now priced around 25,000 MLB The Show 26 Stubs, and sell orders are scarce. These cards aren't particularly strong, but they're becoming increasingly difficult to obtain.

This also exposes a problem with MLB 26 reward design. Even in mid-August, you can still obtain numerous Standard Packs from Program Path. For new players, Standard Packs still have some value, helping to complete Live Series collections and offering a chance to unlock high-value Live Series cards.

However, for veteran players, Standard Packs are largely useless. Most High Overall Live Series cards are now inexpensive, with only a few maintaining their high prices.

By September, there will be a significant increase in 99 Overall cards in MLB The Show 26. Instead of continuing to release Standard Packs, the official team should consider bringing back some older packs that have been removed from the acquisition channels.

Put these early contents back into Mini Seasons, Diamond Quest, or Conquest rewards. This won't disrupt Marketplace; instead, it will make it easier for players to complete their collections.

While MLB 26 Vault Packs have started appearing, their quantity is limited, and the card pool is random, making it difficult to truly solve the supply shortage problem. What we need is not occasional Vault Packs, but a more stable mechanism for bringing back older content.

How to Catch Up?

If you've just started playing MLB The Show 26, or are already far behind, don't rush to open Marketplace. You need to focus on completing offline content first. Mini Seasons, Diamond Quest, and Conquest are all worth prioritizing.

Their value isn't just in the cards they give you; they also provide XP, Wheel Spins, Packs, and MLB 26 Stubs. These rewards accumulate gradually, easily creating a snowball effect.

You might get Standard Pack, or you might open Deluxe Pack, Premier Pack, Ultra Pack, or even some Promo Packs that are no longer available through normal acquisition channels. If the card you get is worth a good price, you can sell it to continue adding stubs.

If you're just starting out, Live Series shouldn't be your primary goal. Especially high-priced cards like Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge, which will significantly increase the cost of the entire Live Series. Spending over a million MLB 26 stubs to complete a collection, only to find you don't even have the players you actually want to play, is not a worthwhile investment.

Legends and Flashbacks Collection can also be put on hold for now. A more practical approach is to focus on the regularly released Promo Collections and then decide which players are worth pursuing based on your roster.

If you see a card around 35,000 stubs on MLB 26 Marketplace that you really like, you can buy it immediately. Conversely, if a card is only for collection and its price is already ridiculously high, there's no need to force it. After all, the most important aspects of MLB The Show are the roster and player experience.

At this stage of MLB The Show 26, while stubs are important, what's truly scarce are those cards that have been removed from regular acquisition channels and may not be easily obtainable in the future. Therefore, both new and veteran players should remain patient and manage their resources wisely.
