Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.5: 3 Underrated Builds With Serious Endgame Potential

PoE 2 Patch 0.5.5 brings new endgame challenges. Frostbolt Blood Mage, Ember Fusillade Stormweaver, and Spark Ritualist may be underrated, but their damage, clear speed, and scaling potential make them worth trying in Forbidden Rites Event.

Patch 0.5.5 didn't balance existing skills, and the game environment didn't undergo a radical transformation. What truly changed was the late-game landscape. The rework of Trial of Chaos, new ritual encounters, and The Viridian Wildwood mechanic all altered how players explore the map and challenge bosses.

This means that builds excelling in sustained damage, area control, and consistent damage output are becoming more important than ever.

Next, I'll introduce three underrated builds in PoE 2 Patch 0.5.5, detailing their performance in the early stages of Forbidden Rites Events, boss fights, map exploration, and scaling. Each build has its own unique style, and its strength far exceeds what its popularity suggests.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.5: 3 Underrated Builds With Serious Endgame Potential

Frostbolt Blood Mage

If you're looking for a frost caster with both ranged attacks and excellent battlefield control, this build definitely deserves more attention.

The core skill of Frostbolt Blood Mage is Frostbolt. You can fire Frostbolts across the battlefield, controlling groups of enemies while attacking them from a distance, preventing them from being overwhelmed.

This positioning advantage is especially significant in higher-difficulty endgame content. You don't need to frequently engage dangerous enemies in close combat; instead, you maintain distance and reposition yourself when necessary.

At the same time, this cold-focused playstyle gives this build an advantage that pure damage builds lack: control. Slowing and freezing enemies creates more attack opportunities and makes it easier to deal with dangerous groups of enemies.

In terms of clearing maps, this build is very simple and straightforward. Push forward, fire Frostbolts at the next wave of enemies, and continue pushing, letting your Frostbolts cover the entire area.

When facing bosses, you need to maintain ranged pressure while focusing on positioning and dodging boss mechanics. This is where Blood Mage shines. Once the life-cast mechanic is established, this build has room to grow further.

Blood Mage ascendancy converts life into spellcasting energy, and Leech and Remnant mechanics ensure near-instantaneous life regeneration during sustained combat. Ultimately, this build maximizes casting speed and damage output without the limitations of traditional mana management.

I believe Frostbolt Blood Mage build performs exceptionally well across the board in PoE 2 Patch 0.5.5. This build can equip Lineage Support gem around level 65, significantly boosting its power and making it suitable even in the late Forbidden Rites event.

Other key legendary gear required includes Snakepit, Rathpith Globe, and Rakiata's Flow. Generally, this requires approximately 30-100 Path of Exile 2 Divine Orb, but for a higher configuration, 300-1,000+ Divine Orb are needed.

Ember Fusillade Stormweaver

This build may seem simple at first glance and easily overlooked by players, but once you get into it, you'll discover its power.

The core of this build is Ember Fusillade, which doesn't rely on a single powerful spell attack. Instead, it creates multiple fireballs, builds up attack pressure, and then deals damage to the target, combining area coverage and burst damage.

On farming maps, you can build up embers, unleash damage, and then keep moving, overwhelming hordes of enemies with a barrage of projectiles. The same mechanics are even more effective against stronger enemies. You need to be prepared to deal damage, adjust your positioning, and unleash the barrage at the right moment.

In PoE 2 0.5.5, the entire build will be further enhanced as your spell damage, elemental infusions, critical strike mechanics, and gear are improved. Once optimized, it will have true endgame potential.

The key to Ember Fusillade Stormweaver is utilizing the Elemental Infusions from Orb of Storms and Frost Bomb skills to amplify damage. Therefore, the support gem Rising Tempest is very useful here, as it increases elemental damage based on the type of elemental skill recently used.

Then, you also need to maintain high mana to trigger Zenith support gem bonus, and Sione's Temper helps you release more projectiles faster. In short, this build requires only a moderate investment to achieve stable DPS, typically around 53K in a typical endgame setup.

PoE 2 Ember Fusillade Stormweaver

Spark Ritualist

In Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.5, Spark itself is a powerful skill; as long as you know how to utilize its projectile coverage area, it can unleash astonishing power. However, for some reason, compared to other Spark builds, Spark Ritualist is often easily overlooked by players.

Spark is the core of Spark Ritualist. You don't need to precisely aim at every monster; simply fill the entire battlefield with projectiles. You unleash sparks throughout the area, enemies continuously take damage, and you can reposition yourself at any time. This also gives this build excellent map farming capabilities.

At the same time, this build is equally effective against bosses. The continuous projectiles create excellent sustained pressure, and in suitable terrain, these sparks constantly traverse the area, creating multiple opportunities to attack targets. This is precisely where this build's power surpasses its apparent strength.

In addition, it possesses enormous scaling potential. Spell damage, projectile input, critical strike chance, casting speed, and skill levels all increase significantly with gear upgrades, providing an extremely strong late-game foundation for Spark Ritualist.

The build's key gears are Unfurled Finger, which provides a third ring slot, and Mystic Attunement, which increases the bonuses provided by rings and amulets by 25%. Then, Rathpith Globe is your core damage gear, increasing critical strike chance and critical strike damage based on your maximum mana.

This article introduces three powerful builds in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.5 that have been underestimated. If used properly, these builds will likely exceed many players' expectations. Don't hesitate, go try them out! Good luck!
