Although Patch 12.0.7 might seem small within WoW Midnight update roadmap, it thoroughly tackles a number of long standing efficiency problems that have frustrated players for a long time.
The patch has now arrived on the PTR and is expected to go live around June 16th. Instead of doubling down on end game dungeon grinding, Patch 12.0.7 puts character progression and solo player experience front and center.
The following sections outline the substantive changes introduced in this patch across four key dimensions: leveling progression, gear catch-up mechanics, raid flexibility, and passive buffs.
Leveling Progression
Patch 12.0.7 implements a systemic rebalancing of experience point (XP) gains across WoW Midnight's foundational content. The goal of this initiative is to let solo players speed up their character leveling without having to depend on any special farming tactics.
These changes cover everything from standard quests to weekly events, so leveling up feels more like an organic adventure than a boring, repetitive grind.
Doubled Quest XP
Experience gains from standard quests has received a significant boost in this patch. Specifically, XP awarded for "Normal Pray Quests" has increased by 400%, allowing a single completion to grant approximately 30% of a character's current level progression.
"Delve Quests" - a signature feature of WoW Midnight - have also seen their first-completion XP rewards increased, with values now dynamically scaling according to the character's level.
When combined with 66.6% bonus provided by War Mode, players can rapidly accumulate XP during the early stages of leveling without having to wait for the weekly quest reset.
Weekly Events
XP rewards for weekly quests for all zones have been substantially increased. By combining these weekly tasks with the aforementioned, significantly boosted "Normal Pray Quests," players can earn enough XP to gain half a level with just about 15 minutes of playtime.
For players leveling multiple characters, simply completing their standard weekly quest checklist allows them to raise a new character to the maximum level in a single evening.
Gear Catch-Up
Patch 12.0.7 breaks away from the traditional reliance on group-based content for gear acquisition, specifically opening up pathways to top-tier progression for solo players. Additionally, "Turbulent Timeways" event serves as a consistent source of high-level gear for all characters.
Hero Track Gear
The "Turbulent Timeways" event is typically set to stay active for the whole patch cycle. The gear rewards granted by the weekly quest for all Timewalking Dungeons have been upgraded from Champion Track to Hero Track. Furthermore, this event now offers an experience bonus of up to 30%, further accelerating character progression.
This means that players need only queue up to complete a few Timewalking Dungeons - or, during specific weeks, Timewalking Raids - to acquire Hero Track gear for any of their characters.
This change significantly lowers the gear threshold required for characters to become "Season 2 ready," making it particularly ideal for players looking to gear up multiple characters across their Warband efficiently. For those with extra WoW Midnight Gold, you can further speed up gearing through Auction House or vendor upgrades.
Ritual Sites
Previously restricted to group content, Mythic Crests have been made accessible to solo players in Patch 12.0.7 through the introduction of Ritual Sites system.
The patch introduces new Tier 6 Ritual Sites; while their difficulty is elevated compared to the previous Tier 5, the increase in enemy strength remains moderate.
This content features no weekly lockout limits and requires no entry keys (similar to Mythic+ keystones), allowing players to challenge the sites repeatedly without restriction.
The currency obtained from these sites can be exchanged for Mythic Crests or WoW Midnight Gold, enabling solo players to complete their endgame gear upgrade progression with no need to participate in Mythic+ Dungeons or Raids.
Raid Flexibility
A flexible group size mechanism for Mythic Raids is coming in Patch 12.0.7, finally addressing long standing guild raid management problems. At the same time, an all new passive buff system called The Omnium Folio grants every character permanent ability boosts that do not depend on the gear they have equipped.
The raid zone featuring the new boss, Rotmire, now permits entry for groups of any size ranging from 15 to 25 players. The encounter mechanics automatically scale skill damage and effects to adapt to the actual number of players present.
This design resolves the inherent conflict of the traditional fixed-20-player Mythic format, where understaffing prevents progression while overstaffing results in idle players. Should players respond positively to this flexible model, later raid tiers could implement similar flexible rules, which would fundamentally change how raid management works in WoW Midnight.
Passive Buffs
The Omnium Folio is an account-wide power system that allows players to earn upgrade points by completing a simple weekly quest.
Players can freely mix and match from a variety of stat boosts, damage types, and ultimate abilities, all of which apply as passive effects. Whether a newly max-level character is attempting high-tier Delves or venturing into Raids, this system directly boosts damage output and healing throughput, while also providing defensive mechanisms akin to Cheat Death.
It occupies no gear slots and requires no additional manual input; in effect, it lowers the difficulty threshold for all endgame content, enabling new characters to participate in high-difficulty activities much sooner.
The changes introduced in Patch 12.0.7 for WoW Midnight focus on reducing repetitive burdens, broadening solo progression paths, and streamlining raid management.
These adjustments do not rely on the introduction of new zones or classes; instead, they improve the overall progression pacing of the entire expansion by refining its core underlying mechanics.
