Give me mechanics unique to each Ascendancy that define character building. Give me a reason to sit there staring at my Ascendancy tree and think about which option is the right one.

Melee Problem

I think there are too few melee options in Path of Exile 2. While not all melee builds are weak, they generally feel slightly weaker than ranged characters. This is because ranged characters have a significant advantage: they can stay away from monsters. This creates a huge defensive barrier and makes the gameplay smoother.

Melee builds have to be close to damage sources, and the penalties are too severe. As well as weak melee defense system makes the melee experience terrible. This needs some fundamental changes before Patch 1.0 is released.

Visual Clarity

Currently, some Atlas nodes no longer just increase rewards but directly determine whether certain basic drops will appear. However, some rewards only enter the drop pool after the corresponding node is selected. Tablets

The previous weapon had a fatal flaw: a 50% reduced projectile range, making it difficult for your character to maintain a safe distance from enemies in PoE2 combat and limiting Kite's abilities.

However, the new weapon configuration effectively solves this problem. Legacy of Quill Rain, a rune that can be socketed into the bow, further enhances the build's attack speed, allowing the character to maintain safer ranged attacks while better utilizing their inherent ranged attack advantage.

The main effects of Legacy of Quill Rain are:

• 50% increased Attack Speed
• 20% less Attack Damage

Acquisition Method

Legacy of Quill Rain cannot be obtained through random drops in Path of Exile 2 0.5.0; you can only craft it using Aldur's Legacy rune.

First, you need a Unique Bow - Quill Rain and an Aldur's Legacy. Socket Aldur's Legacy into Quill Rain, which will break and generate Legacy of Quill Rain rune.

Additional Projectiles

Therefore, players hope that Patch 0.5.5 can improve this situation in two ways: either add new skills to existing weapons, providing better tools for clearing maps and fighting bosses; or completely rework existing skills to make them more suitable for the combat requirements of PoE 2.

Simplify or Enhance DoT Mechanics

DoT mechanism is a complex and controversial issue in PoE 2. Many players believe that the current three main DoTs - Ignite, Poison, and Bleed - have two core problems: the mechanism is too complex and the strength is insufficient.

Take Poison as an example: Poison is a Chaos Damage DoT, its base damage is based on Physical and Chaos damage dealt on hit, and it can only stack 1 layer by default.

Therefore, to design a qualified poison build, players need to pay attention to multiple attributes such as the amount of damage dealt on hit, the chance of poisoning, the maximum number of poison stacks, the duration of poisoning, and the strength of poisoning.

In contrast, an Energy Shield build may only need to stack high shield value and damage bonus.

Therefore, players hope that Patch 0.5.5 will simplify DoT mechanics or directly enhance DoT damage, narrowing the gap between it and direct damage builds.

Buffing Weak Ascendancy Classes

Ascendancy Classes are the core mechanic for character building in PoE 2. Players need to complete Trial of Ascendancy to unlock Ascendancy Classes and obtain 8 Ascendancy Points to unlock powerful Ascendancy Passive Skills.

The problem is that the strength difference between different Ascendancy Classes is huge: some Ascendancy Classes only require 2 Passive Points to achieve powerful combat capabilities, while others may not even provide equivalent strength even after using 8 Passive Points.

For example, Monk's Invoker provides powerful elemental damage and defense bonuses, while Acolyte of Chayula's Embrace the Darkness build is relatively weak, requiring players to use a large number of Path of Exile 2 Currency to compensate for its weakness.

Players hope that Patch 0.5.5 will add game-changing Passives Skills - just like Gemling Legionnaire, who was revitalized with several new and powerful Passives Skills in Patch 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients. 

Strengthening Weak Defense Mechanisms

Currently, the strongest defense system in PoE 2 is Energy Shield - because it is effective against all damage types and can be easily stacked to extremely high shield values through attributes such as Intelligence.

This contrasts sharply with Armour and Life mechanics. Armour's damage reduction is significantly reduced against large amounts of physical damage and is almost powerless against elemental damage and Chaos Damage.

As a result, players are forced to choose Energy Shield as their primary attack method because it is so powerful. Therefore, players hope the developers will strengthen weak defense mechanisms in Patch 0.5.5:

Increase Life generation, make Armor more effective against high physical damage, allow Armor to provide some reduction in elemental damage, and make hybrid defense systems using Life and Armor more feasible.

In short, these are the five mechanisms or gameplay elements that players generally hope will be strengthened in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.5.

The developers have indicated they will strengthen some of these gameplay elements, but whether they will ultimately be strengthened remains to be seen until Patch 0.5.5 is officially released.
